So Far Away- Martin Garrix & David Guetta
"The love if a family, is life's greatest blessing."
ââââââââââââââ-
"Mom, why'd you open my curtains it's too bright...." I mumbled into the pillow, sore but comfortable.
Comfortable - why was I comfortable?
I opened one of my eyes and looked around. My room, I think I'm in my room. How did I get in my room? I'm hungry....I need food.
I opened my eyes and stared into the warm sun that was hitting the end of my bed. The warm glow flowing through the windows as the sun rised from over the frozen, naked trees.
I placed my hand on my shoulder blade where I had noticed that the majority of the pain had disappeared but instead was replaced with a tenseness from having a knife in it. I groaned as I rubbed my hand over the sore spot and pulled the white covers off my warm body.
I looked up the my clock which had broken at some point, since it couldnt be 3pm. Could it?
The clock had frozen at this particular time and the batteries must've needed changed, but I couldn't have changed them...I wasn't here. Placing both legs onto my carpet, I embarced the soft feeling it left on my toes.
I made my way to my window where I stood as I felt the warm, winter sun hit my entire body. A smile crept up my face as I embarced the little things in life. A warm bed, the light...even my frozen clock.
A familiar face walked through the door as I broke out of my haze, the room was silent. A glass of milk that was most likely for me fell onto the carpet, as a warm pair of arms wrapped around me and began shaking. I couldn't control the tears that were running down my face.
"Mom," I sobbed into her arms as she brought me over to the bed, and made me sit as she stroked my hair as I lay in her arms. Her arms that I had missed being in, she was my mother and seeing her again had made me feel feelings I don't even think had been invented yet.
"Hey baby," she sobbed with me, running her hands through my hair. " I missed you..."
I sat upright, at least my arms were less...
t-rexy?
"Mom I can explain everyth-"
"You don't need too." She cut me off, lifting my head upwards of of her lap so I could now face her, " I already know everything."
I just stared at her, and took in her scent to make sure I wasn't going completely crazy. She was human, 100% human.
"Mom...how long have you known," I sobbed into her arms. She smiled faintly at me, and I rocked back and forth in her arms like a child once again.
"They told me exactly who you were the day the northern-moon pack handed you over to me and told me to look after you." She sighed,"My boyfriend was driving your parents to somewhere safe when they were attacked, he was a werewolf. He was pronounced dead at the crash...as was what was left of your mother." She stopped, her grip on my hands getting tighter.
This was difficult for her to do.
"Your dad was out of it, running his mouth about how you've both disappeared and were gone when he had woken up." She sighed as she pulled me closer." He was never the same after that."
"The government elders decided that the best thing to do when the leader of the northern-moon found you in the woods, was to hide you. Keep you safe." My mom was now silent.
"They told me that I'd have to help you after you turned for the first time, and developed your abilities. But I got scared...and I got Em to reach out to the Iron's family to bring them here. If I couldn't protect you, then they would." My mom had tears falling down her red cheeks, a painful part of her past had came back to haunt her because of me.
"None of this was planned Ce..."She cried, "none of this was meant to happen to my baby."
" I don't blame you mom, I don't blame anyone for what happened. It's over and done with now so lets leave it in the past and move on - because I'm here, and I don't plan on running off again anytime soon." I comforted her, which resulted in a weak smile and a small laugh between both of us.
"So....what have I missed over the past month?" I quietly asked her, she looked downwards for a split second before explaining. "Do you remember the night you went missing? Can you still remember that?" She asked me vaguely.
"Of course"
She sighed, "That night Em was injected with an unknown liquid which made life slightly harder to deal with." She stopped for a breath. " whatever it was...it made Em completely mortal, she lost all and any contact she had with the other side." I sat and processed this. Em was mortal? Human...?
I stood up, perhaps a little too quickly as my head began spinning. "Mom where is she now, I need to be there for her" I rushed. My mom then quickly jumped beside me to steady me, careful that I was not to fall.
"Em's at the Ferolc Kingdom Ce, shes trying to undo whatever they did to her...whoever they are...", she faded off.
Catori.....I needed to go and see Rose and Aidon as quickly as I could. Shoving on my pink, fluffy slippers I ran through my door and straight to the stairs - slowing down slightly as I didn't want to trip and fall to my death. It would be too ironic to die now, espically after all I'd been through.
I grabbed the handle on the front door and pulled it towards me as I stepped through and closed it. I stopped once I had realised that outside, everything was completely white...I'd forgotten about the snow. Because of course I did, in my head it was still November and being stuck in a dark room in a damp cage for a month does that to you.
Figuring that if my feet got a little wet from the snow it wouldn't make much of a difference, I'm sure you can imagine the sounds coming out of my mouth as lunge after lunge the cold water dampened my feet further.
Like the ninja I was, I made to Rose and Iron's door unscathed. sorta...I was freezing.
I placed my hand against the door and tapped roughly on it three times, leaving a short interval for someone to arrive at the door and open it for me, its not like I was counting every second it was out there.
I was currently at thirty-four.
The door was opened by a shocked looking Rose who immediately threw me into her arms and ushered me through the door.
"How are you doing sweetheart?" She asked, a great big smile on her face. "You look so much better." she assured me, placing her hand on my cold shoulders.
Rose was a very pretty woman, I had always noted that. she had always been very kind to me and I greatly appriaciated that, she was almost like a second mother to me...or third. You know what I mean.
She then summoned her family with a loud shout and Aidon appeared from the kitchen with a cup of tea and a dumbfounded look on his face. He quickly made his way towards me and I couldn't help but laugh as he practically threw his tea at a table and gave me a large hug.
"Its so good so see you looking better," he smiled, sitting down on the couch and patting It as she issued me to sit down. I followed his instructions as another figure appeared from around the corner. The only difference was this time, he dropped his tea and his cute, little mug smashed into sharp tiny pieces.
He murmered my name under his breathe and a swear word which wasn't very nice.
He stood there, looking as if he was trying very hard to resist doing something. There was a large lump In his throat which he swollwed down and it was almost as if his beautiful blue eyes had become ever more slightly watery. He was breathing quickly and looked as though he was longing for something.
Our reactions to each other were very similar. He took my breathe away, he made my blood become a million degrees just from a single look. Part of me wanted to pounce him, the other half felt as though he had seen him in a long forgotten dream from another time.
"Hunter, take a seat." Aidon smiled as he motioned his head at the couch opposite us. Hunter did, but very slowly without breaking eye contact with me for one second. We were glued to each other. I couldn't help it, everything about him screamed perfection. From the way his jaw moved when he swallowed to the flicker of gold in his irises. I had no control over it, but I wanted this boy. And from the look he was giving me I'd say the exact same about him.
Rose came back into the room after cleaning up Hunter's mess and sat beside me, offering me a cup of tea and a Jaffa cake....I love Jaffa cakes.
"Cece what is it you came over to do? Is there something you would like to tell us? Perhaps ask us?" Aidon questioned, his thick English accent almost becoming thicker. I looked at him and smiled as I thought of how to phrase what I was going to say. I took in a deep breathe and began to speak.
"When I was captured, it was by some sort of shapeshifter girl named -"
"Catori" The so-called stranger finished for me, looking at me with deep sympathy before staring down at the ground. I continued on, taking note of the black hoodie that he was wearing.
"When she captured me, she told me something....." I paused, nervous at my own words and the sick twisted feeling I had in my gut. "....she told me that I was the reincarnation of.....Cecilinda. Is this true?" I engaged - not even sure if I wanted to know the answer of not.
It was sinisterly quiet until Rose spoke up.
"Cece...if we could tell you we would....but we don't know for sure." Rose seemed to mumble under her breathe, ashamed that she couldn't offer me a proper answer. Not gonna lie, I was furious about Rose not answering me properly...afterall, they seemed to know more about own life than I did. Everything I had learned - had been from them. What a twist it would be if it was all a lie....or even worse. They worked with Catori . Of course, now - I'm being paranoid and over-thinking things. As per usual.
"Aidon and I have never been to the kingdom," Rose gently smiled. " We Sean's our time together as Alpha and Luna of a small pack just north of it actually."
" You'll find answers to if you are the reincarnation of Cecilinda there."
I could hear faint mumbling from hunter.
"Oh yay, add that as another thing to the list about things about my mate I wasn't informed off. At this stage I've got a better chance at getting a date with jesus himself over the werewolf princess with superpowers who also happens to be the reinencarnation of the first ever wolf who was alive like A THOUSAND YEARS AGO so that's like weird and...." He rambled on as I stared at him. He was talking to himself, and it was sorta cute. Rose realised what he was doing as quickly gave him the look.
I had only realised how long we had been quiet when I knocked myself out of my daze. Everyone was quiet and awkward - expect Hunter. He sat with a grin on his face watching me. His deep blue eyes blinking so often as his thick, dark lashes caressed under his eyes every time he shut them. They had a glint of sadness to them, a small spark of pain - but it seemed to be only me who picked up on this. I gave him a sympathetic look, then realised I was intruding on this familys personal space. I was still in my pajamas after all, but it seemed that Hunter definatly did not mind.
I stood up and flashed them a smile as I gave both Rose and Aidon a hug. I needed to head back to my own house, afterall I had too much to think about. As I picked up my mug I made my way into the kitchen to wash it in the sink, turning on the cold tap and adjusting the tempreture by turning the nozzle. I froze when I could feel someone behind me, staring a hole right through my back. My heart was beating to fast for me to even think of who it could be - it was practically ringing in my ears.
Slowly, the hands touched my wrists with its fingers, drawing circles gently as goosebumps appeared up and down my arms. I wasn't even going to lie about how it felt, every second the hands touched me my breathing increased, every second they were near me my heart seemed to stop. How could a person have such an impact on me?
They continued drawing cirles up my arms until they reached the bottom of my neck, where the hands then jumped down to my waist - rubbing circles along my pelvis. I shut my eyes and breathed heavily. Slowly, the hands turned me around and moved up to my face where they cupped my head. I wanted to break away, but I couldn't reisist their touch - it was intoxicating.
I opened my eyes as the other body crept closer to me, trapping me against the counter with the sink in it. I looked up and stared into a pair of broken blue eyes. They threatened to leak with broken, beautiful and damaged tears. Hunter's tears.
He took a single starnd of hair from my face and placed it behind my ear as he sighed and stared down at the floor. No words needed to be exchanged, I knew exactly how he was feeling and damn was he in pain. it was showing in his eyes. I could practically feel it.
Quickly, he slithered his arms around my body and pulled me in close, not giving me a choice in the matter. I let him, I didn't know why. I didn't know him and certainly didn't remember him. But it felt right, totally and completely right. I didn't want to budge...I didn't want to leave his arms.
He brought his head down to my neck and placed it there, just breathing in and out. It tickled a bit, but seeed to help Hunter calm. I shut my eyes...I honestly could've just stayed there and not left - thats how comfortable it was, and don't even get me started on the smell. He smelt amazing.
He stood up straight and looked at me, as if he was taking a mental picture of me for his brain before he swollwed hard and began stroking my cheek. Hunter then released a soft sigh which he sad seemed to be holding in.
"You still don't remember me....." he spoke softly, his smoth voice like honey. I looked at him strangely before quietly replying. "H-howd you know?....."
He gave a faint smile and once again cupped my face, hey - I wasn't complaining.
"You don't look at me the same way...." He closed his eyes and placed his forehead to mine, causing me to feel his warm breath against my face. "You look at me now the same way you did just after we met. you have forgotten our past Cece." He stopped as the tears threatened to escape, And our past is what makes us who we are. What we are...."
I had no words to say. I didn't know what to say honestly.
Quickly, Hunter backed away from me and left the room. I listened to him as he made his way to his front door and left. I stood there, shocked.
If I could express the guilt I felt in words...it would take me an entire story, and we don't have time for that.
I made my way towards to door, still leaving my mug in the sink. Unwashed.
Rose caught me on the way out as she was picking up pieces of Hunters broken mug. I was going to run after hunter. We seriously needed to talk - properly. I needed to know how he felt and what I could do about it. Heck, I don't even know how I feel.
Rose looked upset about something, she had the exact same look in her eye as hunter. The resemblance was uncanny.
"Cecelia theres been a message delivered..." She stopped at looked up at me. "Its from the Ferolc Kingdom.
*****
The smell of the woods was amazing as it was masked by the faint smell of winter. The joyful scent entered in and out my nose again. calming me as I felt home again. I was home.
I wondered through the trees, careful not to slide on any ice which might decide to pop up and say hello to me. There was a good 3 inches of snow which covered the ground like a warm blanket, masking it from the cold tempretures which gave me goosebumps. But then, at the moment - a lot of things were giving me goosebumps.
I was following his smell. Hoping to come across hunter. But so far I'd gotten nothing. No signs except the footprints that he had left for me to track. I stopped and breathed out heavily when I noticed that the footprints had stopped, and instead become large paw prints instead.
I continued walking, too frustrated to realise I was on a bit of ice until my smart, clumsy self happened to slide backwards and begin to fall. I thought I'd caught my balance with my feet, but in reality...I'd probably just made the fall a lot worse for me.
I'm not gonna lie I screamed. But not from me hitting the ground. It was from another pair arms catching me from behind - that's what was scary.
All of the air exited my lungs in one swift moment as I was caught mid-air and placed gently onto the ground by the strong pair of arms. ( They had to be strong...if they weren't then they defiantly wouldn't have caught me)
"Damn princess that could've hurt if I wasn't here to save you." A familiar voice spoke over-sarcastically. I turned around and wrapped my arms around the trouble-maker.
"You don't need to be so sarcastic jay, I've dealt with worse as you already know." I giggled. giggled? really....im not five anymore. I need to get myself under control.
He placed both hands up to his heart and pretended to look hurt, this was the first time I'd ever seen him properly in any source of light. And damn, did it get me off-guard.
He had long blond hair which was naturally light but towards the ends was white as if he had dyed it when he was younger. Dark brown eyes with thick brown lashes and eyebrows, with high cheekbones as he was extremely underweight - I could see thst from just looking at him. The boy needed some food. I also felt bad for the long facial hair that had grown on his face. He was in the cages 5 years, they obviously wouldn't let him shave, he probably didn't even know how to.
"Well...." he stuck out his bottom lip. " You have gravely insulted me...I refuse to be your friend now princess." He stated while walking away.
"Jay"
"yes"
"shut up "
"nope"
I rolled my eyes at him. He was a serious pain, but he was also a friend wh was there for me. I suddenly realised that if he was out here than he must've slept here, all 30 of the people in the cages must have been out here too. I tugged on jays arms and quickly asked him.
"Jay where are the others?" He smiled at me, entwined his hand with mine and began dragging me on my merry-little-way towards where a greyish brown smoke was appearing.
Jay took me to a clearing in the woods and we came across about 8 people or so that had slept on the snow, barely dressed. All Looked at me with smiles as they saw me, and the young girl about 14 ran up to me and threw her arms around me. A giant smile on her face.
"Hey Cecelia!" she shrieked as I wrapped my ars around her aswell.
"Hey"I smiled, "where is everybody else?" I asked, curious as to why our numbers were so low. Jay then came up beside me and put his hand on my shoulder. "The rest tried to make their way back to their homes and packs, all you see here is everyone that had decided to stay with you princess. they want to follow...you."
Did my blood freeze at this particular moment. yes, it did.But I decided to announce the news Rose had given me at this point, I felt it was nessasry.
"I have something important to say." I began, clearing my throat. "My father wants me back now that they know I'm alive."
"They're going to make me queen."
