681 He Was The Problem
The meeting was finally over and while everyone was taking their leave, Marcel remained in his seat and so did Daniel. Anyone who saw the scene didnât interrupt knowing that it was better to leave the father and son duo to their antics. And if they were, to be honest, it was their drama that made meetings like this interesting, and their family would be a lot boring without the both of them.
Moreover, if Marcel and Daniel ended up killing each other, it was in their favor. With both of them out of the picture, it was a dream come true. So why would any of them stop them? It was none of their business. Even Victor left the both of them alone knowing that his presence was not appreciated anymore and went to see his mother. They needed to have a long talk about loyalty and where to place it.
Even when the both of them were left alone for a long time, father and son didnât say a word to each other for over five minutes, the both of them were left to their own thoughts until Daniel decided to break the silence.
âAre we going to remain like this forever?â He asked him.
âNo,â Marcel said, âI was thinking of giving you a ten minutes silence for landing that appointment. Brilliant, donât you think so?â
Daniel took a deep breath, âYour sarcasm is beginning to get on my nerves, Marcel and I donât like it,â His voice held a note of warning.
âAhh, is that so? Thatâs practically the same way I feel about you breathing the same air I do. Itâs good to know Iâm not left alone in this suffering,â He answered cheekily.
âSuit yourself then,â Daniel gave up on him. The boy was too damn stubborn and temperamental.
âYou shouldnât give up easily, father, Iâm not yet done with you. Weâre working together on Elijahâs case, remember? Weâre practically partners now. A dream finally come true, right?â It took everything in Marcel not to lunge at him from across the table and satisfy his fist on his face. Daniel was like a bug crawling up his back that he couldnât reach no matter how much he stretched. It pissed him off, greatly.
.....
But Daniel told him, âThat temper of yours is going to ruin you one day. I told you, emotions would do nothing but blinds you to reality.â
âAt least itâs better than being a busybody. I would have suggested that you go settle down with another woman. However, I wouldnât even bestow such cruel fate to any women out there.â
âOh, donât worry, if youâre worried that I would take another wife that would birth me a son and compete with your spot, you have nothing to worry about. Your mother is the only woman that would bear that title of my wife, so donât be scared.â
âNot even Natalie?â Marcel mentioned that name and he saw something flash in Danielâs eyes but only for a moment because he was quick to put his mask back on. So much for preaching on emotions.
âWhy should I bother about Natalie when I have my daughter-in-law, Arianna,â
Marcelâs emotions changed at once and Daniel smirked, knowing that he got him where he wanted.
âEven I know not to cross the line, Marcel. Give me a little credit.â
Marcel stood up, banging his hand on the table hard.
âWhat do you want?â
Daniel stood up too, staring him down.
âPerhaps, for you to show a little gratitude!â
âYeah, gratitude for what? For bringing me into this world?! For tormenting my mother every breathing day of her life because you couldnât be with the love of your life....â Marcel trailed off, working his jaw with his eyes closed as he fought to remain in control.
âGod, youâre so pathetic,â Daniel muttered when he saw him in that state. He trained him better than this. Daniel was utterly disappointed with him.
âIâm honestly done with you!â Marcel couldnât stand to be in his presence anymore. That man wasnât worth his attention.
He picked up his phone and turned to leave when Daniel said, âI hope to see Arianna with a child soon as you said.â
And that did it.
Marcel lost it.
It all seemed like a movie as he jumped over the table, to Danielâs side. He charged at his father who dodged the first blow and hit him instead. Unlike Marcel who was red with anger, Danielâs mind was as clear as day, and could see Marcelâs mistakes, giving him the upper hand in the fight.
He easily maneuvered all of Marcelâs moves, beating him up instead. But that did not last for long, because with the small distance between them, Marcel speared him to the table, and started hitting him.
Daniel fought back but he was pinned to the table and couldnât escape. He received all of the blows to his face as Marcel let out all of his frustration on him.
âMarcel!â
Victor was the first to notice what was going on and ran over to separate them. But even when he managed to pull them apart, Marcel was back to beating the old man again. It was chaos.
âShit!â
Adele was the next person to head into the room and didnât need an invitation to stop the fight. She ran over and with her help, Victor was able to keep Marcel away from his father this time.
âLeave me!â Marcel roared, blinded with fury, âLet me finish that bastard once and for all!â
âCalm down!â Victor told him, âKilling him would not solve your problem!â
âReally?â Adele eyed him. It was obvious to everyone that the problem was Daniel.
âWell, killing your father is not worth it! Think. about the consequences, â Victor said just as Daniel began to laugh hysterically and all of them turned to look at him.
âNow this is what Iâm talking about! A real man solves his problems with his fist, not being a pussy about it!â
Thanks to that statement, there was silence for half a second before Marcel bounced on him once again.
