Chapter 13 A Tinge Of Sweetness Julianâs lips met Annaliseâs lips. Just as he extended his arm, wanting to hold Annaliseâs neck, her phone rang. âLittle fairy, you have a phone call. Little fairy, you have a phone callâ¦â
Julianâs gentle smile widened as he heard Annaliseâs ringtone.
The more he looked at Annalise, the more he found her cute. âAhemâ¦â Annalise felt awkward as she heard her ringtone.
She instantly picked up the phone and answered the call.
Her expression turned grim when she heard Benjaminâs voice from the other end of the call. âWhatâs the matter?â
âAnna, where are you? Iâll go over and find you. Itâs been a whole day and night since I last met you.
Have you calmed down?â Benjamin asked.
Annalise smiled. âCalm down? So, all this while, you thought I was mad at you? Listen carefully, Benjamin. Iâm now a married woman, so Iâd like to ask you kindly to stop calling me. Besides, I donât think there is much between us to talk about.â
âAnna, donât say such things in a fit of anger. I know that what I did hurt you deeply. Hence, I apologize for what I did. Why donât you let me make up for it? Head over to Tayhaven in a moment, and thereâs a surprise waiting for you from me. I guarantee that you would love it, Iâ¦â
âYou idiot!â Annalise cut Benjaminâs words off and hung up the phone call.
After ending the call, she was still furious, and her expression was very dark, appearing very scary.
Her fury was stronger than her feeling of sadness and disappointment.
She was angry toward Benjamin and herself. Benjaminâs shameless attitude pissed her off.
On the other hand, she was infuriated at herself for failing to recognize how horrible Benjaminâs personality was. Despite dating him for one year, she did not realize that Benjamin was a scumbag.
âLittle fairy, you have a phone call⦠Little fairy, you have a phone callâ¦â Annaliseâs phone rang once more. Annalise fell speechless. She felt so awkward that she was embarrassed to look at Julian.
âHe must be laughing at me for being so childish,â Annalise thought..
She answered the call, and it was Benjamin again. âAnna, Iâm sorry. I promise that I will never make the same mistakeâ¦â
Annalise ended the call.
As soon as she ended the call, the phone rang again. Before Benjamin could say anything, Annalise retorted fiercely, âAre you done with your blabbering? Listen carefully, Benjamin. I, Annalise, have broken up with you. In my dictionary, breaking up with someone means that I am no longer related to them in the slightest. I will never interact with the person for the rest of my life. Even if we meet by coincidence on the streets, we wonât acknowledge each otherâs presence.â
Annalise was irritated, so she walked forward while shouting into the phone.
âAnna, youâre still so reckless. Why donât you take a few more days to cool down? Iâll contact you by then. Anna, if you calm down and think it through, youâll understand that once you lose me, you will never find a man better than meâ¦â In Benjaminâs opinion, Annalise needed a few days to cool down.
Then, she would realize that she couldnât bear to leave him.
âI am very calm right now! Benjamin, do you know what an egomaniac is? You are one! Goodbye, loser!â Annalise hung up the call in rage.
Only then did Annalise recognize that she was holding Julianâs hand. She didnât know when Julian began. holding her empty hand, lacing his fingers with hers. On top of that, he was also helping her carry her bag.
âUm⦠When did I give him my bag? When did we start holding hands? Was he the one who held my hand first, or was it the other way around? How far have we walked while holding hands?â Annalise questioned in her heart.
âAh, I-Iâm sorry!â Annalise felt awkward as she tried to withdraw her hand.
To her dismay, Julian held on tightly.
The smile on his face had disappeared, and his expression was slightly dark.
Annalise was confused about what was happening.
âWas I the one who grabbed his hand first? Is that why heâs upset?â Annalise thought. She loosened her grip. but Julian still held on to it tightly.
Annalise smiled while trying to pull her hand once again. âExcuse me, Sir Parks. Could you let go of my hand?â
âWas that the jerk from yesterday?â Julian asked with a jealous look.
Annalise wondered if her eyes were fooling her when she saw the jealousy in Julianâs eyes. She believed that she was overthinking.
âYes,â she replied.
âYouâre a married woman now, so you should avoid him,â Julian said.
âSir Parks, weâre in a fake marriage!â Annalise explained.
In addition, even if they were a true married couple, Julian shouldnât have any qualms regarding Annaliseâs attitude toward Benjamin.
âSir Parks?â Julian repeated Annaliseâs way of addressing him. He was even more displeased when he heard her call him that.
âAhem, Mr. Parks!â Annalise swiftly changed her way of addressing Julian.
âWell, am I, someone on your marriage certificate, no match for that scumbag?â Julian asked from the bottom of his heart.
âOf course not! That jerk is trash!â Annalise felt disdain at the mention of Benjamin.
Although the mention of Benjaminâs name still made Annalise feel uncomfortable and painful, she forced herself to think of the man as useless trash.
âWell, that means that Iâm worse than trash,â Julian said.
âWhy would you say that?â
âYouâre calling that jerk by his name, but youâre calling me Sir Parks?â Julian complained.
Annalise was now more shocked.
âIs this guy really the eldest son of the Parks family? The one who acted cold and aloof in front of Abigail?â Annalise asked herself inwardly.
He was currently behaving like a spoiled brat who was asking for candy.
Most importantly, his unhappy expression and grumbling tone wasnât incongruous at all.
âHow would you like me to address you?â Annalise asked. She looked at Julianâs distressed face, and without her knowing, there were hints of resignation and affection in her tone and on her expression.
It was as if she gave in and let Julian have his way after seeing him pout.
âCall me Julian!â Julian replied.
Worried that Annalise might disagree, he quickly added, âMy grandpa calls me that too.â
âI guess Iâll stick to calling you Mr. Parks,â Annalise said.
âCalling him Julian would be too intimate,â she mused.
âDoes that mean Iâm on the same level as that piece of trash?â Julian asked.
âOf course not,â Annalise responded. âBut our marriage is just an act, and we wonât have anything to do with each other in the future!â she continued in her heart.
Julian held tightly onto Annaliseâs hand and stopped walking. His gaze was fixated on Annalise.
Annalise met his gaze, and her heart skipped a beat. She immediately turned away.
Just as she was about to give in and call Julian by his name, Julian changed the topic. âIâll stay here for a little while longer. Firstly, Iâll help you obtain the company. You should prepare some documents that are beneficial to you tomorrow and hand them over to me.â
Iâll take it slow. Once we get to know each other more, Annalise will naturally be willing to call me by my name,â Julian thought.
âYou donât have to do anything. I can deal with it.â Annalise denied his offer.
âThis is part of our agreement.â Julian was insistent.
Annalise nodded. âAll right.â
Julian would assist Annalise in obtaining the shares her mom left for her. In return, Annalise would ward off any of Julianâs future pursuers without a second thought.
Annalise was indeed a person with righteousness.
âMy grandpa will return to Jadeborough tomorrow noon, Come with me to send him off,â Julian said.
Even though it was a request, Julian spoke in a soft tone, with a hint of pleading.
