Chapter 391 Would She Forgive Him?
âOh, sure. No problem.â
Frances hurried to the kitchen and grabbed a plate. She sat uncomfortably before Damien.
She didnât hesitate because she thought she had misheard, but rather because she was taken aback.
Frances had been Damienâs housekeeper for almost six years.
It was the first time Damien had spoken to her in such a friendly manner and invited her to dine with
him.
His sudden kindness left her stunned.
Even so, she only ate the side dishes and didnât dare to touch the fish Cherise cooked for him.
âYou donât have to be so formal.â
Damien chuckled and shook his head helplessly.
Seeing Francesâ reaction, he couldnât help but wonder, âAm I that unapproachable?â
Frances seemed afraid as she dined with him.
However, she was different when she was with Cherise.
Cherise would even hug Frances and act cute with her.
âNoâ¦..
Frances met Damienâs gaze.
But she immediately looked down again. âMr. Lenoir, you used to be intimidatingâ¦â
âYou didnât interact with any staff in the household except Mr. Kolson and Mr. Hampson.â
âBut even when someone as close to you as Mr. Kolson made a mistake, you made him run in the rain
as punishment.â
âThatâs why you were unapproachable.â
Damien closed his eyes and thought. He vaguely remembered the incident Frances mentioned.
However, he hadnât punished any staff for a long time.
âYou became a completely different person after you married Mrs. Lenoir.â

âMrs. Lenoir is kind and friendly. You gradually became more compassionateâ¦â
Frances realized she had overstepped her boundaries and added cautiously, âMrs. Lenoir has had a
tremendous influence on you.â
âSheâs⦠similar to the late Mrs. Lenoir.â
The late Mrs. Lenoirâ Frances mentioned was Damienâs mother.
Damienâs hands trembled slightly.
âI almost forgot you used to work for my mother.â
He sighed and looked at Frances. âIf my mother were alive, would she forgive the caused the fire that
injured me and my sister?â
person who
Then, he realized his question was too ambiguous. He added, âI meant the person who set the fire, not
the person who ordered it.â
âYour mother was friendly.â
Frances took a deep breath and closed her eyes to think. âWhen she and your father had just gotten
married, your fatherâs ex-fiancée hired someone to hit your mother with a car.â
âAlthough your mother wasnât injured, she would have died if the person had accelerated.â
âLater, the personâs family came to beg for mercy. They said the person did it to save his motherâ¦â
Damienâs temple throbbed. âWhat happened next?â
âYour mother forgave the person, sparing them from the death penalty. They were sentenced to a few
years in prison.â
âYour father argued with your mother about this. He said she was too soft-hearted.â
Frances smiled as she reminisced. âIn the end, your mother retorted, Whatâs wrong with being soft-
hearted?â
âShe angered your father so much that he wouldnât eat for two days.â
Frances was so absorbed in her memories that she forgot to be cautious around Damien. âAt the time,
your mother whispered to me that everyone faces difficulties in life.â
âThe driver of that car didnât intend to harm her. Otherwise, they would have driven much faster.â
âThey only wanted to earn money to protect their loved ones. Thatâs why they hardened their heart to
hurt others.â
âPeople like them are quite pitiful.
