"Shift."

I whine, as Shiva has disappeared into the back of my head and left me to fend for myself. I don't want to have to stand here naked in front of these two strangers just because I can't control my wolf. I also don't want to anyone except my mate to see me, and the tattooed, coffee coloured man is making me uncomfortable.

I start edging towards the woods, hoping to get behind a tree but a low, warning growl from my mate has me frozen in place.

My mate storms towards me, his eyes blazing with fire, and he barks out a word so forceful, I can feel the human inside me being forced to appear. "SHIFT."

I watch as the fur on my legs disappears, and my paws elongate into my slender fingers, claws retracting back into my hands and my nails reappear. My teeth slowly slide into my gums until I'm naked and shivering, surrounded by two strange men who are staring at me hungrily.

I curl into a ball to hide my nakedness, goosebumps raising on my skin. I look up and lock eyes with my mate, his jaw set and his eyes black. I send him a pleading look and his jaw ticks. "Jasper, look away."

His friend looks at him funny but turns away nonetheless. My mate growls but removes his tshirt, revealing his toned, muscular chest. He tosses his shirt to me and I catch it, pulling it over my head and letting it fall below my knees. "Thanks."

His scent has stuck to his shirt like glue and it's overpowering my senses. His heavy musk of man, pine and sandlewood has my head going dizzy, the need to be close to him pulling deep in my stomach, so I settle for burying my face in his shirt and inhaling.

"No problem." He says, his voice strained. His eyes aren't looking at me and his mouth is set in a thin line, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallows harshly. "But now we have to talk about how you almost killed my beta."

I look at the floor, letting my hair down in front of my eyes so he can't see me. "It was an accident..."

"Oh it was an accident." He snorts coldly, laughing sarcastically at my comment. If only he knew. "Jasper, we have to let her off now because it was an accident."

"It was!" I snap, pushing myself up from my seated position on the floor to glare at him. His eyes drop to my bare legs and a husky growl falls involuntarily from his lips. "My wolf took control and wouldn't give it back. You're lucky I managed to get through to her or you wouldn't be standing here, laughing at me."

My mate growls, his nostrils flaring with his anger. "Don't talk to me like..."

A rustle in the bushes from behind me stops his sentence, and reflexes have him pushing me behind his back, his Beta Jasper stood defensively by his side.

A growl emits from the undergrowth, and the power behind it has me bending at the knee, submitting before I get myself in more trouble.

My mate looks at me like I've lost my mind, but when my father emerges from the thick undergrowth, his murderous facial expression aimed solely at me, it's like a switch goes off in his head. "You're Piers Lattimore's daughter."

"The one and only." I grin sheepishly, before standing up from my kneeled position and start heading towards my father. "Hi daddy...."

"Go home." He growls viciously, his tone so furious it has me flinching. Despite it hurting me, I know he was worried about me, worried people would find out about my violent other half, so I let it slide. He's in full alpha mode now and he can't control how he's feeling.

A snarl sounds from behind me, and I whip around to see my mate snapping his extended canines at my father, his eyes red. "She's mine."

"Alpha Kaden, just because she's on your territory doesn't make her yours." My father barks back. My eyes widen when I hear the name roll off his tongue.

My mate is Alpha Kaden Thorne of the Dawnstar pack, a pack notorious for it's fearless warriors and violent alpha.

I look with wide eyes at Kaden, who looks like he wants to take on my father. "Kaden." I say quietly, trying the name on my tongue now I know it's important, and his eyes come to land on me. They immediately soften, and I take a step towards him.

"Stop." My Dad growls, his hand whipping out grabbing a hold of my arm. Kaden let's out a growl so dangerous and possessive that it has my dad letting go. "What the..."

"My mate is Alpha Kaden." I blurt out, and watch as every pair of eyes lands on me.

Oh boy.

I'm sitting at home in my room, waiting to be called downstairs. My father and my mate are in the council room arguing about me, and even without my increased hearing I can hear their shouts of anger.

Kaden wants me to go back to Dawnstar with him, both to pay for my crime of attempted assault and to take the spot as Luna by his side. My father however, needs me here to ascend him as alpha otherwise the CrescentMoon Pack becomes alpha-less.

"Just give the alpha role to your Beta's son!" Kaden yells, his voice angrier than I've ever heard it. "Her place is with me, her mate, and with my pack. They need her more than she is needed here."

I have a fistful of Kaden's shirt in my hand as I play with the hem. I got home and I showered and got dressed, but I felt an urge to pull his giant, black tshirt back on so I did.

"That's wrong and you know it." My Dad growls, and a fist slams down on a table, presumably his. "She has much to learn that you can't teach her, she needs to step up as Alpha here because there's nobody good enough to take her place!"

I roll my eyes, finally sick and tired of their bickering over me, when I'm not even involved in the conversation. I sit up from on my bed, and pull up my sweatpants that have ridden down on my hips, before storming down the hall.

I barge into the council room uninvited, to find the two alphas nose to nose, looking near enough ready to rip each other to pieces. "What the hell are you two doing?! The whole pack can hear you two bickering like children, you're supposed to be alphas for crying out loud! Calm down!"

They both look and me and immediately take steps back, the power and anger in my voice having an effect on them without even realising. Kaden's eyes rake over my body, his eyes going black with lust at the sight of me in his shirt. My dad's chest is heaving, and his anger doesn't seem to lessen when he sees the way my mate looks at me.

But before he opens his mouth, I stop him by raising my hand. "You're fighting over where I should go, but have you even considered how I might feel about the arrangement." I look towards my dad, who's eyes look down at the floor because he knows I'm right. "Dad, you're asking me to stay here and leave my mate, and you know that I can't do that, because you couldn't."

I take another look at Kaden, who's still stood shirtless, his toned body making me almost drool. I quickly shake my head, but don't miss the sexy smirk on his face. "And you're asking me to leave my role as Alpha, and abandon my responsibility to my pack, to come with you."

He growls, but once again I silence the men with my hand. "Don't growl at me Kaden, if I asked you to leave DawnStar, and come and rule as Alpha beside me here, would you?"

His eyes are angry at my obvious disrespect, but he keeps quiet and I turn my attention back to my father. "Nevertheless, I want to go with Kaden."

"You'd leave your pack to struggle without an alpha so you could be with your mate?" My Dad fumes angrily.

"Yes." I say bluntly. "You have three good prospects that I can think of straight off the top of my head that would be better alpha's than I ever could be, your pride just won't let you see it."

I write down the names Lyle, Sophia and Harry (Dad's betas son) on a sheet of paper and pass them to him. "Make your choice and train them Dad because I'm going with Kaden."

And with the I spin on my heel and leave, leaving two very surprised alphas in stunned silence.

I couldn't stay in the house when the air was so thick with tension you could cut it with a knife, so I left.

I pulled on some shoes and I walked straight out of the door towards Sophia's house. I had mindlinked her whilst I was pulling on my vans that I was on my way over, and she promised me that her mate wasn't there and they weren't shagging or anything disgusting.

You see, I've been basing my knowledge of the mate pull on my parents and Sophia, because they're the only people I know who have found them, besides the obvious adults in the pack.

Sophia and my parents are the people I "study" so to speak, and when I saw how Kaden reacted to me I was shocked, purely because the mates I've seen can't physically keep their hands off each other.

Seeing Kaden shrug me off, turn his head away from me like I was nothing to him, like I meant nothing, it hurt. I was also confused, as to how he could physically ignore the bond, until I saw his eyes.

If I looked past the anger, no fury, I could see lust and restraint he held and I knew that if he wasn't an alpha then he would've been all over me.

I knock on Sophia's door, and I hear her barrelling down the stairs towards me, taking the steps what sounds like three at a time.

"Bîtch get in here!" Sophia chuckles grabbing me by the hand, pulling me inside with the full force of her wolf behind her. She literally rips me off my feet and drags me inside and upstairs into her room. "You have to tell me everything."

So I dive into the story starting from finding the rogues. Sophia knows all about my inability to control Shiva, so she isn't surprised when she finds out I couldn't stop killing, but she is more than surprised when I tell her about a particular Alpha.

"Should've known he'd be the passive possessive type." She scoff, digging her spoon deep into her Ben and Jerry's ice cream. "Most Alphas are."

"Oh I know, have you met my dad." I laugh, shoving a spoonful of cookie dough into my mouth. "But they were arguing over me like I wasn't even to be considered. So I put them in their places."

Sophia grins, a small amount of ice cream dribbling down her chin but she doesn't seek to care. "Have you been able to talk to Shiva?"

I shake my head, rubbing a hand through my hair. "It's like she disappeared completely at the sight of our mate, and I haven't got her back since."

"Maybe this is a good thing." Sophia shrugs. "Maybe you can learn to shift without her taking the reigns?"

"Maybe..." I mumble, my voice fading away as I hear the one of another inside my head. He doesn't sound angry, or upset. Just passive. That definitely worries me, because my father is very rarely void of emotion.

"You can come home now, Lola because we definitely need to talk."
