Livianaâs POV
âAm I not rightâ¦your majesty?â he whispered to my ear.
I gulped.
He chuckled and it sent shivers down my spine.
My jaw clenched as I glared at him while he had a smirk on his face.
âPardon, your highness? I couldnât quite understand what you meantâ I played innocent.
King Luis smirked at me then he looked at Luan.
âSon, why donât you get your mate and I a cup of teaâ he said to Luan.
Luan glanced at me with a worried look.
âNowâ King Luis said with authority.
Luan sighed as he made his way to the kitchen.
As soon as Luan left, King Luis turned his head to look at me with a serious expression.
âDo you really not know? Or are you playing dumb?â he said in a dangerous tone.
My brows furrowed at him.
âMe? Why would Iâ¦play dumb, your highness?â I asked back with a smirk.
He squinted his eyes at me.
âDo you really expect me to believe that by the way youâve acted towards me?â he said as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
âWhat do you expect? You and your men came in my pack territory without a notice. Twice. Iâm Alpha to this pack. Do you expect me to be so welcoming and respectful when you canât give me the same respect?â I said with a chuckle of disbelief.
âHow dare you speak so freely to your kingâ he said in disbelief.
âI was never one who cared about the royal family matters. I didnât consider anyone my king. Why should I now?â I said and he looked at me with amusement.
âYouâre different. The bad kind of differentâ he said.
âIâm not sure whether I should be impressed or threatened by youâ he continued.
I chuckled.
âWhy would you be threatened by a pack Alpha? Do you perhapsâ¦â I paused as I stepped closer.
The Kingâs guards immediately drew their swords as they pointed it at me.
The King motioned for them to stay put and stay back.
I smirked.
âPerhaps youâre hiding something. Something you did but refuse to let anyone knowâ I said and I saw an unreadable expression flash on his face.
But it was gone as quickly as it came.
âAm I rightâ¦your highness?â I said and I saw his jaw clench.
The Kingâs eyes glowed as he grabbed me by a neck.
âHow dare you!â he growled at me.
I smirked as he tightened his hold on me.
âFather! Liviana!â
I heard Luan shout and the sound of glasses shattering on the floor.
He was stopped by the guards as he was coming to us.
âHow can you disrespect royalty?â King Luis hissed at me.
âLike I said, I donât care who you are. In my eyesâ¦youâre just a threat to my peopleâ I said.
His grip tightened on my neck even more.
I smirked as my eyes glowed bright gold before King Luis.
King Luisâ eyes widened in shock and he let me go.
I can feel the burning sensation by neck caused by his grip.
âLiviana!â Luan shouted as he came rushing to my side in worry.
Then, he turned to look at his father.
âWhat are you doing? Why would you do that to my mate?!â Luan growled at him but King Luis ignored him.
King Luis stared at me in shock.
âI suggest that you leave quietly while Iâm being patient and nice. Youâ¦wouldnât want to face the wrath of the first female Alpha of Lunar, donât you now?â I said.
King Luis glared at me as his eyes glowed for a moment.
âIâll be backâ he said as he walked away and his men followed him.
As soon as he was out, my knees weakened and Luan caught me but I pushed him away from me.
I let myself sit on the floor as I held my chest.
My heart was pounding so fast that it can burst out any minute.
âWhat happened? Why did my father do that?â Luan asked worried.
I looked at him.
âHe knowsâ I simply said as I forced myself to stand back up again.
Luanâs eyes widened.
âWhat? How?â he asked in shock.
âHow would I know?â I said as I took a step but almost fell so Luan held me.
I pushed him away again.
âDonât touch meâ I said.
âLivianaâ Luan said softly and I glared at him but didnât say anything.
I carefully took another step as I walked away from Luan.
I went outside and went to the training grounds.
I needed to get my frustration out on something.
I trained for hours.
Then, it suddenly rained but I still didnât stop.
I had pent up frustration and I needed it out.
Because if I donât take it out, itâll eat me up inside.
âAHHHHHHHâ I screamed as I punched the punching bag and it left a hole in it.
I kept punching it and destroying it until it was scattered into pieces.
Then, I fell on my knees as I punched the ground multiple times.
I couldnât feel anything but frustration.
I didnât even feel the pain even when I could see my bruised and bloody fists.
Tears began to burst out from my eyes as my screams were replaced with sobs.
âLivianaâ
Someone pulled me to stop me and lifted me off the ground.
I turned to look at the person with a glare.
But then, I saw my father.
My dad.
The only King Iâll ever actually consider.
âOh sweetieâ he said and my eyes softened.
âDadâ I sobbed and he hugged me.
I kept crying and crying while I was in my dadâs embrace.
I felt so tired.
So burned out.
So drained.
Like I had no more to give.
I was slowly losing it.
I was slipping away.
I could feel it but refuse to acknowledge it.
âShhhh itâs okay. Iâm here. Dad is hereâ Dad said as he caressed my back.
I kept crying and the sky cried with me.
âIâm sorry, Liviana. Iâm sorry. I was insensitive. I really was. Iâm sorry. Dad is sorryâ he cooed.
I calmed myself down.
After a while, we found shelter from the rain.
âAre you okay? Are you not hurt?â Dad asked as he checked my body for any injury.
Then, he looked at my fists and he sighed when he saw the stains of b***d left.
He reached out for my hands and held it.
âYour mom was really right when he said we were alike in personalityâ he said with a slight chuckle.
âWhat made you so upset? What did that man do? Did he lay his hands on you? I should kill him for making you upsetâ he said angrily.
I sighed as I lightly squeezed my dadâs hands.
âCalm down. How did you know he was here?â I asked him instead.
Dad sighed.
âFatherâs instinct. I sensed there was something wrong so I came rushing here. Then, I smelled the familiar scent of the royal guards and that manâ he explained.
âWhat did he do to you?â he asked worried.
I looked at my father.
Should I tell him?
What if he does something that can put him in danger because of me?
What if he gets caught again?
What if he loses control?
What will happen then?
Itâll all be my fault.
âHe just came to visit Luan. Thatâs allâ I lied.
I couldnât tell him.
How could I when I know very well of his capabilities?
I donât want to risk it.
âThen, what made you so upset?â he asked with his brows furrowed.
âWell, one he came to my pack without prior notice and he looks down on me and men. Of course, Iâd be upsetâ I said.
Iâm sorry, dad.
I canât put you in danger again.
I dont want to.
âThat punk. Youâre better than him by more than a million timesâ he said with a scowl on his face.
I chuckled.
âAre you not mad at me anymore?â I asked him.
Dad looked at me softly.
âHow can I ever be mad at you? Youâre my daughter. The one and only. How can I manage to get mad at my princess?â he said as he carefully pulled me for a hug.
âIâm sorryâ¦for hurting you that timeâ he muttered.
âDonât worry, Iâm fine. I was more worried about you and Luanâ I said.
Dad sighed.
âI canâtâ¦approve of him yet, Liviana. But I trust you and I know you wouldnât make an unwise decisionâ he said.
âI trust youâ he muttered and looked at me.
âThank youâ I said and smiled.
Dad and I stayed in the shade as we waited for the rain to stop.
I refused to go back to the pack house just yet.
âSo, how are you and your mate?â Dad suddenly asked.
I sighed.
âWeâre not exactly okay after that day. Heâs mad that I kept a secret from him. Heâs been ignoring me a lot and I had enough of itâ I said.
âHow childishâ Dad said and I laughed.
âArenât you the same? You literally attacked him without much thought when you found out who he wasâ I said with a chuckle.
âThatâs differentâ he said as he looked away.
I laughed.
âBut he really is a good person, Dad. If he wasnât, I donât think I would still be here nowâ I told him.
âStillâ¦I canât trust him yet. I canât trust anyone else yet until Iâm sure no one can try to harm you ever againâ he said.
I smiled.
âI can protect myself well, dad. You donât have to protect meâ I said.
âI will protect you. No matter what you say, I will protect you. For as long as I can, I willâ¦protect my daughterâ he said while looking at me.
And I will do the same to you.
I willâ¦protect you, dad.
No matter what it takes, I willâ¦protect everyone.
Even if it means I have to sacrifice my own life.
I donât care.
As long as, my loved ones are all safe.
Nothing else matters.
Thatâs my purpose.
