Livianaâs POV
âSheâs here. Why is she here?â
That voice.
I know that voice.
âShe shouldnât be hereâ
Paâ¦
âWhoâs here?â
Another voice?
But whose is it?
âLiviana. Sheâs here, your highnessâ
Your Highness?
Does that meanâ¦
âMy daughter? Sheâs here? My daughter is here?â
My fatherâ¦
King Kale Alaric.
âWhy is she here?â
Theyâre here.
Somewhere.
âIâ¦I donât know, your highness. But Iâd know that scent of her anywhere. Liviana is here in the palace. And thereâs something else thatâs changed about herâ
Pa, where are you?
âWhat is it?â
I need to find where these voices are coming from.
But I can only see darkness.
âLiviana has found her mateâ
I gasped awake.
Luan immediately looked at me worried.
âWhat happened? Are you okay?â Luan asked frantically.
I ended up dozing off while we were in the balcony.
I looked at Luan as I bit my lower l*p to hold back my overwhelming tears.
Theyâre alive.
My fathers are alive.
And theyâre here somewhere
They know that Iâm here.
âWhatâs wrong, baby?â Luan asked softly as he cupped my face in worry.
Instead of answering, I hugged him.
I canât tell Luan just yet.
I needed to confirm it myself.
âHey. Whatâs wrong? Tell meâ Luan cooed as he caressed my hair soothingly.
I shook my head and looked up at him.
âNothing. I just feel relieved that youâre beside me. Thatâs allâ I said.
Luan smiled as he planted a k**s on my forehead.
âThe things you make me feelâ he said with a chuckle.
I smiled.
âShall we go on inside?â I asked him.
Luanâs brows furrowed.
Heâs probably confused.
âI thought you didnât want to go back in there?â he asked.
âI changed my mindâ I said with a cheeky smile.
Luan chuckled and pinched my cheek.
âOkay, then. Letâs go back insideâ he said and intertwined our handa together as we stood up and went back inside.
I need to find where they are.
I remembered that Pa said earlier that I was here in the palace.
ââ¦But Iâd know that scent of her anywhere. Liviana is here in the palaceâ
That means theyâre in the palace too.
But where?
Iâm sure that this place is huge.
We got inside and people greeted Luan as we passed while they looked at me up and down.
If I could only gouge their eyes out, I probably would.
This is exactly why I hated this type of people.
Also the main reason why I was never aware of the royal family.
I never bothered to know about them.
Well, until I ended up being mated to one and being one myself.
I guess now itâs pretty ironic when you think of it like that.
âYou guys are back. I thought our miss Alpha here didnât want to go back here insideâ Abe said.
âWhat can I say? I changed my mind. I wanted to experience the party a littleâ I lied.
An amused smile crept on Abeâs face and I chuckled.
Not really.
I had other things to do in mind.
And thatâs to find wherever my fathers were in this place.
âYour Majestyâ
We all turned to look at who called Luan and saw Luanâs uncle who is also the father of the Haymesâ siblings.
The 3 lowered their head while I only stared at him with a blank face.
He didnât quite have a good impression on me.
Not after he stepped into my territory with his men and physically tried to threaten me and my pack.
âMiss Crestâ he said and slightly bowed his head to acknowledge me.
âI believe we got on the wrong footâ he said.
I smirked a little.
âI believe so, mr. Haymesâ I said and he slightly chuckled.
âI apologize. I did not know you were the his majestyâs mateâ he said but I didnât sense any type of sincerity in his voice.
In fact, it even sounded like he was mocking me.
I almost frowned but stopped myself.
I only gave him a fake smile.
Then, he turned to look at Luan again.
âYour father is calling you, your majesty. Heâs in his studyâ he said.
Luan tensed up a bit so I lightly squeezed his hand on mine and used my other hand to caress his arm soothingly.
I felt him relax a bit and he nodded at mr. Haymes.
âIâll be there in a momentâ Luan said and mr. Haymes nodded then walked away from us.
Luan turned to me.
âI need to talk to my father for a bitâ Luan said.
I reached out to him and touched his face.
âGo ahead. Take your time even. I donât mind at all as long as you come backâ I said as I caressed his face with my thumb.
Luan smiled as he placed his hand on my mine while I touched his face.
âIâll be back as soon as I can. Stay with my cousins while Iâm goneâ he said and I nodded.
Luan kissed my hand and then my forehead then walked away from us as he made his way through the crowd and to his father.
âLuan looked nervousâ Abe voiced out.
âHeâs always nervous when the King asks him to talk because itâs so rare for them to talkâ Beau said with a shrug.
I guess Luan really doesnât have a close relationship with his father.
I think I understand why.
Itâs not that I can relate to him.
But I do understand after only seeing him earlier.
âUhm hey. Excuse me for a moment. I think I need to go to the bathroomâ I told them.
They all looked at me.
âIâll go with youâ Cassandra offered.
I shook my head.
âItâs fine. I can go by myself. You guys just stay here and enjoy the party. Iâll be back as soon as I canâ I said.
They looked at each other for a moment as if contemplating if they should let me go alone or not.
I gave them an assuring smile and just left.
I need to find them quickly.
I need to atleast know where theyâre located and the rest can be planned later on.
For now, my goal is to see where theyâre being held captive in.
I was finally able to get out of the ballroom without being noticed by everyone.
I reached a hallway and looked left and right.
Then, I took out a mini spray from the inside of my gown which was stuck on a band in my thighs.
I sprayed a generous amount on me and used up the whole bottle to mask my scent.
Earlier before we went here, I only used an ample amount to hide my own scent but leave Luanâs mixed scent with mine.
Now, my scent is fully masked including Luanâs.
Theyâll never know whatâs coming for them.
Or in this case, whoâs coming for them.
I closed my eyes tightly and took a deep breath.
I need to find their voice again.
I need to find their link.
Please.
I need to find them.
âItâs gone. Livianaâs scent suddenly disappearedâ
There.
âWhat do you mean? Did she finally leave?â
Found it.
âNo. Sheâ¦she masked her scentâ
I opened my eyes and followed my senses to track the link down.
âWhat? Why would she do that?â
To find you.
âLiviana, this is a bad idea. Youâre putting yourself in dangerâ Amaris spoke up in my mind.
âI need to find them, Amaris. Iâm not leaving this place until I see them. If you donât want to help me, then so be it. But Iâm not letting this opportunity go just because Iâm scared of putting my life in dangerâ I replied to her.
âIs this what you really want?â she asked.
âYesâ I answered firmly.
âThen letâs do it togetherâ she said.
I smiled.
My eyes glowed gold as I let Amaris help me to track the link down easier.
âI donât know, your highnessâ
We reached a big double door and stopped in front of it.
Amaris and I took a moment to smell if anyone inside but there was no one.
We looked left and right then entered the room.
It was a library.
My brows furrowed as I looked around.
There must be a hidden passage here somewhere.
âDimitri, please. Try to look for her scent againâ
I walked down the different aisles in the library until I found one that caught my attention the most.
âIâll keep searching, your highnessâ
Bingo.
I walked up to it and halted.
I searched for a way to open the passage up.
I smirked when I found it.
Got it.
I tilted the book and the shelf slightly opened.
Again, we used our senses to sniff out if there are anyone else.
And there are.
I smelled 1â¦
2â¦
3â¦
4â¦
5â¦
There are 5 of them and then thereâs Pa and King Kale.
âLiviana, we donât have a plan. We canât just barge in thereâ Amaris reminded me.
Right.
I shut my eyes tightly in frustration.
Then, I took a deep breath.
âMom? Moon goddess?â I tried to reach out.
âMom? Moonââ
âLivianaâ the moon goddess came.
I found myself in the meadow as I looked at the moon goddess with a frown on her face.
âIs this why you decided to go to the party?â she asked in disbelief.
I smiled at her nervously.
âPlease, moon goddess. I canât just leave here now. Please. I need your helpâ I begged.
The moon goddess sighed then approached me and held my hands.
She closed her eyes and my hand started glowing.
âI canât do anything else more than thisâ she said as she opened her eyes and looked at me.
Then, she looked at my hand.
âUse it to erase the memory of the people who will see you. You canât get caught, Livianaâ she said.
I nodded and gave her a small smile..
I opened my eyes again.
Now, we have a plan.
I went inside of the passage and slightly closed it.
I removed my heels, gathered the skirt part of my gown to shorten it and made my way down some stairs quietly.
I cautiously made my down.
The scents were getting stronger and I knew I was getting closer.
âBe careful, Livianaâ Amaris reminded me.
Finally, I saw the first target.
I looked at the man for a moment as I red his movements.
Then, I found a blind spot.
I quickly leaped at his direction and landed behind him.
He reacted a second too late and I quickly knocked him out with one strong blow.
I checked his pulse and luckily, he was still alive.
The manâs nose started bleeding.
Dang it.
I reached out for the handkerchief in my band and wiped the b***d off his face.
Then, I quickly healed his nose.
After that, I placed my hand on his head anf closed my eyes.
I searched for his memory.
I quickly found the one that I was in when he saw me.
I erased it.
Then, I dragged him to the side.
Perfect.
I continued my search.
The other scents became stronger and stronger.
They were in the same area.
4 vs. 1
After a while, I was able to see them.
The 4 guards were standing beside 2 doors.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
If I was able to hear my fathersâ link, that means I can reach them as well if I try hard enough.
I clenched my fists as I focused and searched the link.
âDid you find her?â
Yes!
âNot yet, your highnessâ
Now, all I need to do is reach out.
Focus.
You can do it, Liviana.
âIâm hereâ I was finally able to call out.
âLivi?â Pa replied.
âLiviana?â King Kale replied.
âYes. Itâs me. Iâm hereâ I replied.
âWhat are you doing here, Livi? Itâs dangerous. Go back!â Pa instructed.
âLiviana, dear, please. You canât be hereâ King Kale said.
âNo. I need to see you both to know if youâre okay. I wonât leave until I doâ I said and cut the link.
I opened my eyes as it glowed bright gold.
Iâll risk it.
There was a loud thud followed by loud growls coming from the back of the doors.
The guards became distracted with the commotion.
Itâs my cue.
I swiftly made my way to the guards even before they knew what was coming for them.
I grabbed 2 guards and smashed their heads on the wall.
Out.
The other 2 guards looked at me in surprise.
I smirked and immediately lunged at them even before they could react.
I kicked one guard and covered his mouth before slamming his head on the wall taking him out.
Another one down.
The last guard looked at me terrified as he pointed his sword at me.
Even before a word can come out of his mouth, I grabbed his sword and then his head and slammed it on the floor.
Finished.
I huffed as I let go of the sword.
Easy.
I turned to look at the doors and saw that they were all locked.
I took out a pin from my hair and started to easily unlock each one of the locks.
When I finished it, I gulped as I slowly opened the door.
And there I saw him.
The same pair of blue eyes like mine with a disheveled black hair and a beard growing on his face while he was on chains.
He looked at me both in shock and in awe as his eyes watered.
âLivianaâ he muttered.
I covered my mouth with my hand as a sobbed threatened to come out and my eyes watered.
âFather?â I said and a tear fell from his eyes.
âMy daughterâ he said and I ran up to hug him.
He hugged me back despite the chains in his hands.
âYouâre really hereâ he whispered and I nodded.
âI amâ I whispered back.
âBut you shouldnât be here, Livianaâ he said and cupped my face.
I sniffed.
âYou have to leave nowâ he said firmly. I nodded.
âI will. But I need to see Pa firstâ I said and he sighed.
âQuickly. Then leave immediately and never come backâ he said and my brows furrowed.
âI canât do that. Iâm going to set you both free the next time that I come backâ I said with determination.
âNo, Liviana. You canât. I donât want you to put your life in danger for usâ he said.
âAnd I canât let you live like thisâ I told him.
âLivianaâ¦â he said softly and I took a step back while I held my head high.
âI will get you out in time. My mind wonât changeâ I said.
My father sighed in defeat.
âThen, weâll wait patiently for youâ he said with a small smile.
I smiled and hugged him again.
âMy daughter has grown up to be a brave woman. Iâm gladâ he whispered and I smiled.
âNow, go and see Dimitri quickly before you get into more troubleâ he said and I nodded.
I pulled out 2 more pins from my hair and placed it on my fatherâs hand.
âIâll reach out to you guys again before I come hereâ I said and he nodded.
I went out of there and locked the door again like it was locked earlier.
Then, I started to unlock the locks from the next door and opened it immediately.
Pa lifted his head up and looked at me in shock.
âPaâ I said and ran up to him.
âLiviâ he said as he caught me in his arms.
Like King Kale, he was chained as well.
Theu both had disheveled hair and a beard.
âWhy did you come here? Itâs dangerous, Livi. You need to leaveâ he said as he held my face.
âI know. I know. Iâm leaving. But Iâll come back for both of you soon. So please wait tell thenâ I said.
Pa stared at me for a moment.
âNothing will change your mind now, right?â he asked and I nodded.
Pa sighed and gave me a small smile.
âThen we have no choice but to wait for youâ he said and I smiled.
Pa hugged me tightly.
âNow, go. Donât get caughtâ he said and I nodded then gave him two more pins that I took out from my hair.
I looked at him once more before leaving.
Again, I locked up the doors.
I looked at the men who were knocked out cold on the ground.
I quickly healed their injuries and erased their recent memory of my presence.
Then, I ran back up to leave that place.
I found them.
Now, I just need an escape plan.
