Livianaâs POV
âMy father wants to personally meet youâ he said and it was as if the time stopped and so did my breathing.
The King wants me to meet me?
âThereâs a party in the palace tomorrow night. He expects the both of you to be presentâ Beau voiced out.
âMy father invited you to the party, Livianaâ Luan said.
I gulped.
âWhat?â I spat.
âThe King wants to meet youââ
âI heard and understood it the first time. What I mean is why? Why so suddenly and why in general?â I said with my brows furrowed.
âWell, for one, because he was in the dark with Luanâs mate situationâ Abe said.
âTwo, heâs the only childâ Cassandra said.
âAnd three, heâs the first prince and the next kingâ the 3 of them said in unison.
I massaged the bridge of my nose in frustration.
Of course.
What answer did I even expect?
âLivianaâ Luan said softly as he placed his hand on my back.
I looked at him with my âwhat are we supposed to do nowâ look.
âCan we talk in private?â I said or more like demanded. Luan nodded.
Theresa came in with the helpers and served breakfast to the guests while I dragged Luan to the meeting room for a private âtalkâ.
As soon as I closed the doors, I turned and looked at him with a glare.
âWhat the hell happened and why do I need to meet your father so soon?â I immediately asked.
Luan sighed and reached out for me.
I stepped back and he sighed.
âI went to the palace last night. I had to tell my father about us because if I didnât, my uncle willâ he started.
âI told him that youâre Liviana Crest, the Alpha of Crescent Moon pack. He also asked who your parents are but I said theyâd been long goneâ he explained.
âWhat else?â I asked him.
âHe asked how and when we metâ he said.
âWhat did you tell him?â I asked a little nervous.
If the King happens to know that day and finds out that itâs also the same day as the day of my birth and if he knows of my existence as King Kale Alaricâs child, he may soon find out my secret identity.
âI told him we met as soon as I started schoolâ he said and I sighed in relief.
I bit my lower l*p.
âI canât meet your father, Luan. I shouldnât. Itâll be too riskyâ I said.
âDonât you trust me?â he asked hopeful.
âI do. I trust you. But I canât say the same to your fatherâ I said and eyed him.
âHave you realized yet why my uncle doesnât trust you?â I asked him. Luanâs brows furrowed confused.
âIt wasnât just because of you, Luan. At first, he simply didnât trust you because we just met. But the main reason why he refuses to acknowledge our relationship is because he probably because of the fact that your the Kingâs sonâ I told him.
âWhat do you mean?â he asked confused.
I sighed.
âMy uncle Dante doesnât trust the King and he most likely despise him. Thatâs why heâs just as hostile to youâ I said.
âHe probably knows something we donât know. I donât think heâll telk me anytime soon but his actions tell me thereâs something really important
I leaned on the meeting table as I put my hands on my head.
Why does this have to happen to me?
âLivianaâ Luan called softly as he tried to reach out to me again.
I motioned for him to stop.
âCan you please leave me alone for a moment? I need some time to think and cool offâ I said.
Luan sighed and nodded before leaving the room with a disappointed expression.
I closed my eyes tightly as I took deep calming breaths.
After multiple failed attempts, I decided to leave the meeting room.
I went out from the back door and immediately shifted to my wolf.
I sprinted into the woods and into the direction of my âsafe placeâ.
I needed a better environment to take everything in.
And I definitely needed someoneâs guidance for this one.
After a while, I finally arrived at my safe place.
I jumped to the water and shifted.
I stayed below for a little while until I fan finally feel my lungs give out.
I emerged from the water in my human form.
âA lot on your mind, I seeâ
I turned and saw the goddess sitting comfortably by a rock.
âHello, dearest Livianaâ she said with a smile on her face.
I swam to the side and into a bush.
I dried myself off and put on a pair of clothing that I kept in this place.
I go here often to swim or maybe just enjoy the scenery when I need to empty out my mind and think.
âHow are you, moon goddess?â I asked as soon as I got out of the bush.
âShouldnât I be the one asking you that question?â the moin goddess said with a chuckle.
I sighed.
âAnyway, Iâm fine, dear. Thank you for asking. Now, come here and sit with me. Iâm sure you need to vent out a few concerns of yoursâ she said.
I made my way to the moon goddess and sat beside her.
âHow are you, my child?â she asked softly.
I looked at her and my eyes immediately watered.
âMoon goddess, Iâmâ¦scaredâ I confessed.
The moon goddess gently pulled me to her and placed my head on her shoulder as she wrapped me in her embrace.
âShhhh. Itâs okay. Youâre safe here. No one can hurt you hereâ she cooed as she gently caressed my hair.
I took deep calming breaths while the moon goddess whispered assuring words to me.
After a while, I was finally able to calm down.
âWould you like to tell me now whatâs bothering you exactly?â the moon goddess asked as she tucked in a lose strand of my hair behind my ear.
I took a deep breath.
âThe current King knows meâ I told her.
The moon goddess sighed.
âAnd?â she said.
I gulped.
âHe wants to meet meâ I told her.
âAnd what do you think about this?â she asked.
âIâ¦Iâm not sureâ I said as I looked down.
Itâs not that Iâm scared of my safety. Iâm more scared of what can happen to the people around me. Iâm scared of what can happen to my fathersâ I admitted.
It was never about me.
I wasnât afraid of getting my life in danger.
But I was terrified of the fact that the people I cherish most may get harmed if my real identity is found out.
Because I can defend myself, Iâm worried they may target everyone else I care for.
âAre you ready?â the moon goddess asked and I looked up at her.
âI am. But the people around meâ¦Iâm afraid Iâll drag them into thisâ I said.
The moon goddess held the side of my face.
âWill it make you feel better if I tell you that I promise to keep them safe for you?â she asked.
I looked at her for a moment and nodded.
âThen so be itâ she said.
âYouâre bound to cross paths sooner or later. Take this as an opportunity. A stepping stone to who youâre destined to beâ she said encouragingly.
I nodded.
The moon goddess is right.
I wonât be able to avoid this forever.
âIâll meet himâ I stated and the moon goddess.
âThatâs our Livianaâ she said and gave me a k**s on the forehead.
After that, I returned to the pack house on bare foot.
Luan has been trying to reach out to me almost as soon as I left the pack house.
He mustâve felt that I left because of the mate bond.
I finally let him in.
âLiviana, where the hell are you?!â he mind linked in frustration.
âI just went out to clear my head. Iâm on my way back. Just wait for me at the pack houseâ I replied.
âYou shouldâve atleast told me you were going to leave. I was worried, Livianaâ he said.
I sighed.
âIâll be there soon. Letâs properly talk thenâ I said and cut the link.
I walked faster and finally reached the pack house.
Luan burst out of the door and our eyes met.
He immediately rushed to me and engulfed me in a warm hug.
âYou made me worryâ he whispered.
I can feel his overwhelming feelings of my sudden departure.
It wasnât like I was gone for long.
But even I felt empty during that little time that I was apart from him.
âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to worry you. I just needed to empty my head a bit and calm myself downâ I said apologetically.
Luan sighed.
âItâs okay. But please give me a heads up next time. You suddenly ran away and I thought you were really mad at meâ he said with a pout.
I chuckled.
âRunning away isnât something I do. I simply âwent for a runâ. Those are two different things, misterâ I said and we both chuckled.
âSo, weâre you able to think?â he asked. I gave him a small smile and nodded.
âIâll goâ I said and he smiled.
Luan gave me a peck on the lips.
âDonât worry, okay? Iâll be there by your sude every second of the partyâ he assured me and I smiled.
âYou betterâ I said and we both chuckled.
Abe, Beau and Cassandra came out.
âHey, lovebirds. Are you going or what?â Abe asked.
âWeâre goingâ Luan said with a smile.
âGreat! Itâll be less boring with Livi thereâ Cassandra squealed and rushed to my side as she clung onto my arm.
âTell me again why you guys had to come with Luan to tell me about the party?â I asked.
They clearly didnât need to come as a group to simply invite me now, did they?
âThatâs because weâre here to help you prepare for the party, sillyâ Cassandra said.
Oh that.
âAnd to have a little briefing when meeting his highness, the King of Lunarâ Beau added and they all nodded in agreement.
And well, that too.
âWhatâs the plan first?â I asked.
âShopping, of course. You need something extravagant to wear to the party as his majestyâs dateâ Cassandra said.
I frowned.
Shopping is my least favorite thing to do.
But I guess the situation calls for it.
âIâll get dressed nowâ I said with a sigh.
âTerrific!â Cassandra squealed excitedly.
I stomped my way inside of the pack house.
I can tell that this is going to be a long, tiring and frustrating day.
Iâm sure of it.
This is really my decision huh.
Amazing.
