Livianaâs POV
I looked at myself in the mirror.
I wore a black sleeveless bodycon dress that ended mid thigh and a pair of black heeled boots then tied my hair in a high ponytail.
It was a gift from Katie.
Then thereâs a knock on the door and the door slowly opens revealing El.
âLiviâohâ¦wowâ he said when he saw me. I chuckled.
âYes?â I asked crossing my arms. He lowered his head and I saw him flush red. I laughed a bit.
âA-alpha, beta Edmond asked when you wanted to hold the n-next meeting?â he stuttered and cussed under his breath.
âTomorrow morningâ I said and approached him.
El stiffened.
I quickly got hold of his face and squeeze it while looking at me as I laughed teasing him.
âLivi!â he whined clearly embarrassed.
âWhatâs wrong with your face?â I teased. He frowns and looks away.
âWhere are you going?â he asked looking away.
âDinner with Howlâ I said casually and put on a pair of black sandals with just the right amount of heels on it.
âHowl?! As in Tyler Howl?!â he exclaimed. I nodded.
âWhy?â he asked baffled.
âI made a stupid deal with him to swich tents with Blake because I thought Luan would kill him if they were in the same space for 3 daysâ I stated. He laughed.
âI think Luan really would haveâ he said. I looked at him amused.
âWhat?â he asked innocently.
âDid you just call Luan by his first name?â I said with an amused smile. He chuckled.
âYeah. Heâs pretty cool. I know heâs just kissing a*s because of you but itâs alrightâ he shrugged. I laughed.
âAre you serious, Livi? Wonât your mate be furious?â he asked. I nodded.
âOh heâll be infuriated, El. But I donât go back on my word. Heâs gonna have to deal with itâ I said then left the room.
I went out and walked to the gates then saw Howl leaning on his car as my guards watched him closely.
âYour guards are goodâ he told me chuckling.
âThey never once removed their eyes on me since I got here. I feel fluttered that they see me as a threatâ he said.
âOh Iâm sure you and I both know that you are a threatâ I said and he smirked.
âHow am I a threat to your pack?â he asked amused.
âWho said it was to our pack?â I said.
He must have gotten the hint and grinned.
âIâm a threat to their Alpha?â he said.
âPersonally to me, not really. To them, probablyâ I said and he opened the door for me.
âWhy would that be?â he asked.
âWell, letâs start off with you not being my mateâ I said as I met his gaze.
âFair pointâ he said before closing the door.
We drove to a fancy restaurant downtown and ordered stake.
âSo, Alpha Crest, tell me. Who are you really? Or what are you really?â he said taking a sip of wine.
âWhat do you mean, Howl?â I asked raising a brow at him.
âYouâre the first female Alpha. You defeated 5 Alphas and probably more before that night to keep your title. Not to mention, you ripped apart a group of rogues all by yourself. I donât think thatâs very common even for an Alphaâ he said and smirked at me.
He was there that night when Blake was attacked.
He was there and he mustâve seen it all.
âWhat are you saying, Howl?â I almost hiss at him.
âHow did you do that? How did you heal your human friend like that? I saw everything, Crest. I knew something was up the first time I saw you shift that night in the ceremony. Your wolf wasnât the same. I need to know how and whyâ he said with the same intensity.
I clenched my hand on the table.
âI donât know what youâre talking aboutâ I said in gritted teeth.
âYouâre a bad liarâ he said.
âYouâre a bad dateâ I hissed at him.
Then, our steak came and I let go of the table as the waiter put down the plates in front of us.
I sighed frustrated.
I need to calm down. This man is definitely trying to get in my head.
I shouldnât let him.
âOkay. Since you donât seem to be too happy about talking about that topic, maybe I should just bring up an agreement perhaps?â he said cutting into his steak.
âAgreement?â I said with an eyebrow raised at him again.
âAn alliance through mating between your pack and mineâ he said casually. I almost laughed but kept my composure.
I put on an indifferent expression as I cut my stake and took a bite.
âAlliance through mating you say?â I said.
âYesâ he said.
âAnd with whom exactly?â I said uninterested.
âYou and me, obviouslyâ he said eyeing me. I tightened my grip on the knife and fork I was holding before letting out a fake laugh.
âYouâre not my type, Howlâ I said taking another bite of the steak without looking at him.
Once I did look at him, he was frowning.
âYouâre mateless, anyway. Donât tell me youâll stay mateless and lead your pack until youâre dry and old without an heirâ he said it like he was convincing me.
âWhat do you know about me and my personal life?â I asked chuckling at his words.
âYouâre unmarkedâ he pointed out.
âDoes that necessarily mean that itâll remain that way?â I asked him. He raised his brow at me.
âI didnât think youâd be so interested in me, Howl. I thought Alpha Trevor would emphasize the importance of our culture to you or maybe you just chose to ignore itâ I said wiping my mouth. Howl was glaring at me now.
âTell me, Howl. What do you like so much about me?â I teased slightly leaning in to him. He smirked.
âI donât know, Crest. You tell me. Whatâs so likeable about you that weâre in this situation right now?â he taunted leaning closer to.
Then a loud growl echoed in the restaurant. We all turn to the direction of the sound and see an infuriated Luan.
For the goddessâ sake.
