Livianaâs POV
*knock knock
âCome inâ I said and the door opened then Ellie came in rubbing her eyes.
âHi, Liviâ she said softly and approached me. I smiled and put her in my lap.
She snuggled to me hugging me. She mustâve just woken up from her nap earlier.
I looked at the person by the door.
âHowâs school?â I asked.
âBoringâ he said chuckling.
âThe only thing I look forward to is football practice. Well, not until Howl acts like a total a**â he complained. I covered Ellieâs ears.
âWatch your language, Elâ I reminded him.
âSorryâ he chuckled.
El is Ellieâs brother. Heâs a year younger than I am and Ellie is only 3 years old. They are both Edmond and Theresaâs children.
âWe both know heâs always been like thatâ I said. He nodded in agreement.
âAlpha Trevor isnât like that thoughâ he said. I agreed.
Tyler Howl is the son of the Sin Pack. Heâs bound to be the next Alpha when he turns 20 which is the usual age for being an Alpha.
Yes, I know Iâm not 20 yet.
âHow about you? How has school been?â he asked.
âThe usual except of the new guysâ I said.
âOh I think Iâve heard about them from the others. They said they were extremely intimidating and scary and gave off a really strong scent and auraâ he said. I nodded in agreement.
âI doubt theyâre scarier than you when youâre in your Alpha mode thoughâ he said chuckling. I rolled my eyes.
Iâve been with El almost all my life and heâs seen a lot of my sides. A lot more than Blake and Katie.
âYouâre turning 18 tomorrowâ he reminded.
âItâs not a big dealâ I said.
Itâs actually a really big deal.
âYeah, rightâ he said chuckling. I frowned.
âBy the way, you do realize youâll be able to find your mate now, right?â he said. I cringed at the thought.
âI donât need oneâ I said.
I know very well that once I turn 18, Iâll be able to sense my mate if I ever found them.
âSo youâre just going to keep your fake scent on wherever you are?â he said.
The fake scent he was pertaining to was the one I wore at school, when I go out and when there are visitors.
It was a scent specialized to hide my own and Iâve been using it for as long as I can remember.
I didnât exactly know why I had to use it but I didnât bother ask my father.
The only ones who know of my true scent are the pack leaders, their family who lives in the pack house and the pack warriors.
âYour mate wonât be able to find you, you knowâ he said.
âI donât care. I said I donât need oneâ I told him. He sighed.
âWhat if you find your mate then and your mate doesnât recognize you?â he kept nagging.
âIâm sure I wonât find themâ I lied.
âOkay, Alphaâ he said with a sigh.
The last thing I want is someone to distract me from the pack. The mate bond is crucial or so Iâve been taught but it doesnât really make sense to me. Or atleast not much.
A lot of things hasnât made sense to me since I was little.
I never knew my mother. My father left almost 2 years ago and hasnât come back yet. I became the acting Alpha since then and as far as I know in our culture, Alphas are men.
I donât claim the position of Alpha fully yet. Iâm still hoping and praying to the Goddess of my fatherâs return and give him back his title.
Until then, I will be Crescent Moonâs Alpha.
We had dinner together in the dining room and I went straight to my room after the meal.
I immediately fell asleep.
The next thing I know, Iâm in a familiar forest and I smiled when I saw my wolf.
âAmarisâ I called her. She turned to me and gracefully approached me as I caressed her cream colored fur and stared at her blue eyes.
âYouâll be 18 soon, Livianaâ she reminded me through mind link.
âDonât even get me started on that topic, Amarisâ I said.
âWeâll be able to find our mateâ she said.
âWe donât need oneâ I told her.
âYes, we doâ she replied and whined.
âI need to focus on the pack. My father hasnât come back yet, remember?â I reminded her. Amaris lowered her head upset.
Iâm sure she wanted to complain but chose not to. Sheâs been anticipating to have a mate like any other wolf.
Also, the return of my father must be a factor that worries her too. But I shall hold on to his promise of coming back. I am his daughter and I trust him more than anyone in the world.
I woke up.
I was all hot and sweaty.
I looked at my bedside table and saw that it was almost 12am.
My body was burning up.
Do I have a fever?
I stood up and opened the balcony door to let some air in and turned the AC to the highest setting.
Why is it so fcking hot?
I looked at the clock on my bedside table and once it changed to 12am, I screamed at the sudden burning pain that traveled through my body.
Fck!
It was like I was being burned alive. I fell on my bed and squirmed and rolled in pain on the floor.
I screamed more as it got worse.
What the hell is happening?
The door burst open and Edmond came in and rushed to me with a worried and frantic look.
âL-liviâ¦â he said holding me as I squirm in pain.
âI-it h-hurtsâ I said as a tear fell from my eye and another scream escaped my mouth.
Then I felt myself shifting so I pushed Edmond away.
I shifted to my wolf and I immediately felt the pain stop and subside. I panted.
Edmond looked at me in shock. His expression was both confused, shocked and terrified.
âY-your wolfâ he muttered.
What about my wolf? Heâs seen it many times.
I walked to the mirror in my room and even I froze at the reflection that stared back at me.
This is not my wolf.
Amaris had cream colored matted fur, blue eyes and a smaller physique than this one.
The wolf Iâm seeing right now has a white shiny fur, golden eyes and a physique 3 times larger than Amaris.
âItâs me, Liviana. Itâs Amarisâ I heard a voice in my head.
âAmaris? What happened? Why do youâ¦look so different?â I replied to her confused.
âI donât know either. After that painful fit, I justâ¦changedâ she explained.
I turned to look at Edmond again.
âIâm going for a run. Donât follow meâ I mind linked him. He nodded nervously and I jumped out of the balcony.
I ran and ran until I reached the lake. I walked to the platform and stared at the water confused.
I donât think this is a common change when I turn 18. Amaris became totally unrecognizable.
Or atleast Iâve never heard about it before.
Then a alluring smell invaded my nose.
*sniff sniff
âItâs mate! Mate is near!â Amaris said.
My eyes widened.
Oh no.
No.
I ran.
âIâm sorry, Amaris. We canât right nowâ I told her.
âNo! No, Liviana! Please! Itâs mate!â Amaris begged.
âSome other time. Just not today. Iâm sorry. I canât yetâ I felt guilty but I canât. All of this is already confusing enough.
Finding my mate so soon is not what I need.
âNo! Liviana!â she whimpered.
âIâm sorryâ I finally said.
I ran and ran until I could no longer smell it.
I was exhausted and confused.
I took a cold dip in the tub to try and get rid of the fatigue and then dressed up to go back to bed like nothing happened.
