Livianaâs POV
âImpressive speed. Still not fast enough for me thoughâ I said as I succeeded in dodging each and every guard and warrior attacking me.
âYou guys have improved a lot. Iâm impressedâ I said with a chuckle.
They were about to lunge at me again butâ¦
âLiviana!â
Everyone stopped and I turned around and saw my grandmother coming towards my direction.
Uh-oh.
The guards and warriors stepped back as they bowed their heads in respect.
âHi, grandmaâ I said with a nervous smile.
My grandmother squinted her eyes at me.
âWhat are you doing here?â she asked.
âUhmâ¦â I said looking around.
There was no one to save me from my grandmotherâs wrath.
Rainer and Luke werenât here.
And I wasnât supposed to be here either.
âLivianaâ my grandmother warned.
I chuckled nervously as I clung onto her arm.
âI was only going for a work, grandmaâ I said.
She rolled her eyes at me.
âI should have locked you up in your room. What did I say about training before your coronation day?â she scolded me.
I pouted.
âYou said not toâ I said.
âExactlyâ she said as she shook her head in disbelief.
I pursed my lips as I got dragged back to the palace.
It was my last day as princess of Halo.
Tomorrow, Iâll no longer be just Haloâs Princess.
I turned 21 a few months back.
I couldnât keep still in the palace.
I was a little anxious and I wanted to distract myself a bit so I came out to train with the guards and warriors.
My grandmother strictly told me not to train before.
She said that she didnât want me getting in trouble before my special day.
But I was too overwhelmed to remain in the palace.
I sneaked out of there without Rainer but I was sure he already knew.
In fact, Iâm sure Rainer knew that I wouldnât stay in place before tomorrow.
He just let me do what I wanted to do because he knew how I was feeling.
As long as he knew that I wouldnât get hurt, he just lets me do anything if it makes my mind feel at ease.
My grandmother and I reached the palace.
She turned around to face as she held both my hands.
Then, she sighed.
âLiviana, I understand that you must be feeling anxious and overwhelmed for tomorrowâ she started.
âBut I donât want you to get hurt before your coronation dayâ she said.
âSure, you know how to fight. You know how to defend yourself. You can take down a group of warriors and guards alone. Youâre an amazing fighter and I get thatâ she continued.
âBut what if something unexpected suddenly happens? What if itâs not just a wound that will heal quickly? What if you get seriously injured? What if something so horrible happens unexpectedly?â she said worried.
I sighed as I hugged my grandmother.
She was right.
A lot of things can happen unexpectedly.
She was just worried for my safety.
For her granddaughterâs safety who just so happens to be the only heiress to the throne as well.
âIâm sorryâ I apologized.
My grandmother nodded as she caressed my hair.
âI just donât you to get hurt, sweetie. I donât tell you this but I hate it when I see you getting injured in training. Even if you can heal yourself with your powers. I still hate it because I know that you feel painâ she said softly.
âI couldnât take care of your mom the way a good mother should have taken care of her child. I will forever regret thatâ she told as her voice broke.
âI couldnât take care of your mom when she was still here but I can take care of youâ she said as she started to cry.
I caressed my grandmotherâs back as she cried.
So this is how my grandmother felt.
All those years, she seemed to be blaming herself for not being able to keep mom here in Halo and protect her.
After that, I went back to my room.
Rainer and Luke were already there.
Luke was sleeping soundly in my bed.
He must have been tired from playing earlier.
âHow did it go?â Rainer asked as he sat on the couch with a book in his hand.
âYou told the guys to take it easy, didnât you?â I said.
âNoâ he answered quickly.
I rolled my eyes with a chuckle.
âIf thereâs one thing that youâre bad at, itâs lyingâ I told him as I gave Luke a k**s.
Rainer chuckled as he closed his book.
âI couldnât afford getting you riled up before tomorrowâ he said.
Of course.
I made my way on the couch and saw beside Rainer.
âDid they really go easy on you?â he asked.
âHmmm. At first, yesâ I said.
Then, I looked at Rainer.
âThen, I found a way to provoke them and they ended up taking me seriouslyâ I said with a chuckle.
It started off with the guys just playing around with me.
I found it suspicious from the very start.
But then when I did things to provoke them, they eventually forgot whatever Rainer told them.
âThey still couldnât beat me thoughâ I said with a shrug.
Rainer laughed as he shook his head.
âOf courseâ he said with a proud smile.
Then, Rainer just stared at me for a moment.
âYouâre really going to be the queen by tomorrowâ he said.
I sighed as I laid back on the couch.
âYeahâ I said as I nodded.
âThen, a week after tomorrow will mark your 3rd year in Haloâ he said.
I bit my lower l*p and nodded.
âYeahâ I said in a low tone.
âAnd youâll be coming back to Lunar for the first time in those 3 yearsâ he said.
I nodded again as I closed my eyes.
âYouâre not really anxious about the coronation tomorrow, are you?â Rainer suddenly said.
I looked at him.
âYouâre actually anxious of whatâs going to happen after your coronationâ he stated.
I looked away.
I hate how Rainer can see through me like Iâm made of glass.
No one else could do that except Pa because he raised me.
But Rainerâ¦
Iâve only known Rainer for almost 3 year.
Still, he knew anything and everything about me like I was some open book.
But then again, I was thankful.
I was relieved.
There was someone who understood me.
Someone I didnât need to lie to.
As much as I hated having someone who can see through my facade and my weaknesses, Rainer was an exception.
I trusted him more than I trust myself.
Thatâs just how it was.
âDo you think weâre ready?â I asked him.
Rainer raised a brow at me.
âDo you think weâre not?â he asked back.
I shook my head.
âOf course not but I want to know what you thinkâ I said anxiously.
Rainer eyed me.
âI think weâre more than ready. Are you?â he said.
I sighed.
âPhysically and mentally, I amâ I stated.
âEmotionally? Iâm not too sureâ I said.
âCome hereâ Rainer said and pulled me in to his chest and hugged me.
âEverything is going to be just fine. Weâll be there with you all the way. Iâll be there for you all the wayâ he said as he caressed my head.
I nodded.
âThank youâ I said.
Rainer nodded and planted a k**s on the top of my head.
âTake a nap. I know you didnât sleep well last nightâ he said.
I chuckled as he stood up and dragged me to the bed to lay beside my son.
âHave you been spying on me?â I accused him.
âNoâ he answered way too quickly.
I rolled my eyes playfully as I chuckled.
âCreepâ I joked.
Rainer chuckled as he tucked me in.
âIâm going out to check on the warriors and guards. I might also help with the preparations for tomorrow. And you. Youâre going to restâ he said.
I chuckled and just nodded.
I cuddled beside Luke.
âRest wellâ Rainer said and caressed my hair before leaving.
Time will pass by and by tomorrow, I will no longer be just âher majesty, Princess Livianaâ.
This is the last day.
Before the end of tomorrow, Iâll be someone who will lead a whole territory.
