Livianaâs POV
I looked at myself in the mirror.
Itâs the day before my princess coronation.
But today is an important days as well.
The day that I prove to everyone that Iâm worthy of my title.
âLiviana?â Rainer knocked on the bathroom door.
âGive me a secondâ I said.
I washed my face and went out.
Rainer held Luke in his arms.
âYou okay?â Rainer asked.
I nodded with a smile.
âOf course. Why wouldnât I be?â I said as I took Luke from Rainer.
Luke wrapped his arms around me for a hug.
âMamaâ he muttered.
I looked at him with a smile.
âYes, baby?â I said.
Luke looked back at me with a pout.
âMamaâ he said again and hugged me.
It was even tighter this time.
Like he didnât want me to go.
I sighed as I hugged Luke.
He must be sensing it.
âLetâs goâ I told Rainer and went out the door.
We needed to drop off Luke in his room with Kaley and grandma.
We made our way through the hallway and arrived at Lukeâs room.
The guards opened the door and we came in.
Kaley and grandma were already waiting inside.
âLuke, baby. Go play with aunt Kaley and grandma while mommy is gone, okay?â I said as I gave Luke a k**s.
Luke looked at me with his puppy eyes.
I sighed.
I leaned my forehead onto Lukeâs and smiled a little.
âMommyâs going to be just fine, okay? Iâm going to come back as soon as I can. I promiseâ I whispered.
Luke hugged me again and I hugged him back.
After a while, I gave Luke to Kaley.
âWhat are you guys up to today?â Kaley asked innocently.
I gave her a small smile.
âOh you know. The usualâ I said with a shrug.
Kaley chuckled.
âLet Luke and I give you a visit some time, okay?â Kaley said.
I nodded.
âSure thingâ I said with a small smile.
âLiviana, be careful, okay?â grandma reminded.
I nodded.
âYes, grandmaâ I said and gave her a k**s.
I kissed and hugged Luke goodbye and left with Rainer.
We were both quiet as we made our way out of the palace to go to the training grounds.
Iâm sure that Rainer wanted to stay something but he couldnât.
We were almost out of the palace when Rainer suddenly stopped me by holding my wrist.
I looked at him with a questioning look.
Rainer just stared at me for a moment.
He wasnât even saying anything.
âWhat?â I asked.
Rainer gulped.
âYou donât need to do thisâ he said.
I gave Rainer a small smile.
âI do need to do this, Rainerâ I told him calmly.
Rainer shook his head.
âNo, you donât. Itâs your birth right to be here in Halo. You donât need to do any of this, Livianaâ he said.
I held Rainerâs hand that was holding my wrist.
âAre you worried that Iâll get hurt?â I asked him.
Rainer sighed and looked away.
âI donât want to ever see you in the same situation you were in when I found you for the first time. I canât see you like that. I donât want to see you like thatâ he muttered.
I smiled slightly.
In any other occasion, I wouldâve been pissed at him because he seemed like he was overestimating me.
But Iâll give Rainer some slack.
He has never seen me in combat before and heâs seen me when I was at the verge pf death without even knowing what had happened to me then.
Itâs only normal that heâll be this protective of me.
âDo you not trust me, Rainer?â I asked him.
Rainer looked at me.
âOf course, I do. You know that I doâ he said.
âExactly. Then, just trust me. Itâs not like Iâm doing something that can cause my life, Luke. Itâs just a little fight. And youâll be there too. What are you so worried about?â I said.
âIâm worried about you getting hurtâ he said.
âIâm bound to get hurt when Iâm training, Rainer. Itâs inevitable. Itâs also a way for me to improveâ I told him.
Rainer frowned.
âAlso, you should get used to seeing me get hurt. There will come a time when you wonât be by my side to guard me and fight my battles for me like this oneâ I said.
Rainer looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed.
âWhy canât I? Iâm not planning on going anywhere else but by your side, anyway. Why wonât I be able to guard and protect you? Why wonât I be able to fight your battles for you? I can do all that if I need to. So why wonât you let me?â he said.
I just looked at Rainer for a moment.
He was feeling worried, frustrated and anxious of the situation.
Heâs this type of person to me.
Rainer is fearless.
But when I look at his eyes now, I can see fear.
Was it because of me?
âI want to guard and protect you and fight your battles for you. Canât you let me do that?â Rainer said.
I gave him a small smile and moved closer to him.
I wrapped my arms around Rainerâs waist to hug him.
Rainer tensed up.
I placed my head on his chest with a smile on my face.
âI know that you can always guard and protect me, Rainer. I trust you with my life. I really doâ I started.
âBut I canât let you fight my battles. I wonât let you fight my battles. I refuse to let you fight my battlesâ I said.
âWhy?â he asked.
We were still in that same position.
âBecause Iâd rather let myself get hurt than see any of my loved ones get hurt. I can bear any kind of pain if itâs me. But I wouldnât be able to take it if itâs the people I cherish in my lifeâ I said.
Rainer and I were quiet for a moment.
I slowly pulled let go of Rainer and stepped back.
But Rainer pulled me again and hugged me.
He didnât say anything.
He just placed his head on my shoulder.
âAtleast try not to get hurt so much. Or else Iâ¦Iâll need to come get youâ he muttered.
I smiled and nodded.
Rainer raised his head again and sighed.
We finally went out of the palace and made our way to the training grounds.
From the distance, I can already see people by the training grounds.
When we arrived, they turned to look at us and bowed their heads in respect.
My eyes landed on someone.
Rainerâs father.
Rolan Black.
The reason why Iâm in this situation right now.
Flashbackâ¦
âRainerâ
Rainer and I both turned to look at who called Rainer.
It was his father.
His eyes landed on me and I saw his eyebrows furrow.
âPaâ Rainer said.
âWhatâs her majesty doing here?â Rolan asked with a raised brow.
âSheâs trainingâ Rainer said.
Rolan looked me up and down.
I almost chuckled in disbelief.
He was being awfully obvious about his dislike towards me.
âNow why would her majesty need to train?â Rolan said eyeing me.
I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
âBecause I want to. Is there a problem with that?â I said.
Rolan chuckled.
âOf course not, your majesty. Itâs just that I didnât think a princess like yourself would do something like trainingâ he said.
I chuckled.
Then, I looked at him with a raised brow.
âThatâs probably because you donât even know me, Rolanâ I said giving him a small smile.
I stepped closer to him and leaned forward.
âThatâs why you judge me so easilyâ I said.
Rainer lightly pulled me back.
He gave us a confused look.
âWhy are you guys being like this all of a sudden?â Rainer said.
I glanced at his father.
âYour dad hates meâ I pointed out.
Rainerâs eyes widened.
âNo, he doesnât! Who told you that?â Rainer said.
I looked at Rainerâs father.
Rainer turned to look at his father as well.
âTell her, Paâ Rainer said to his father.
Rolan looked at me dead in the eyes.
âI donât hate you. But I donât like you eitherâ Rolan said straightforwardly
âPa!â Rainer scolded his father.
I slightly chuckled.
âLivianaâ Rainer said and looked at me with apologetic eyes.
âDonât worry, Rainer. Your father is allowed to feel how he feels. I donât mind at all. I respect thatâ I assured Rainer.
Then, I stepped closer to Rolan.
âHe probably feels that way because he doesnât know me at allâ I said with a small smile.
I leaned forward a little.
âBut not knowing me doesnât make me a bad person, mr. Black. And not knowing me doesnât make me a push over eitherâ I said.
Rolan smirked.
âYou talk big for someone who hasnât proven anything, your majestyâ he said.
I smiled.
âIf thatâs the only reason why youâre so against me, then let me change that a little bitâ I said.
Rolan raised a brow at me.
âA matchâ I said.
âIt can be any of your men. It can be you. It can even be both. It doesnât matter. Iâll still take you onâ I told him.
Rolan smirked.
âArenât you overestimating yourself there, your majesty? This is your first day training and youâre already asking a senior warrior for a matchâ Rolan said.
I chuckled.
âLike I said, Rolanâ I said and smiled as I looked into his eyes.
âYou donât know meâ I said.
Rolanâs smug smile faded.
âWhen will this match be?â he asked.
âThe day before my princess coronationâ I said.
Rolan smirked and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
âAnd what do I gain from this exactly, your majesty?â he suddenly asked.
I chuckled in disbelief.
This old man, really.
âIâll refuse to be crowned as Haloâs Princess until Iâve proven myself worthy of my titleâ I said.
Rolan smiled.
âLivianaâ Rainer said and held my arm.
I only looked at Rolan with an expressionless face.
âThen, a match it isâ he said.
Rolan and I stared straight in each otherâs eyes.
Iâm not going down without a fight.
End of Flashbackâ¦
Rolan turned to look at us.
He smirked when he saw me.
Weâll see whoâll be doubting who when this match ends.
