Liviana’s POV

“Hi, baby. Did you get a good sleep?” I cooed when Luke woke up.

I carried him in my arms and gave him a k**s while he sleepily placed his head on my shoulder.

“Let me hold him” Rainer offered.

I shook my head.

“It’s fine. He’s barely awake. I’ll carry him for a while so let’s go down to attend to the guests” I said.

Rainer nodded and we went down together.

I carried Luke around as we attended to the guests.

After a while, he started playing with the other pups while Rainer watched over him.

“Queen Selena was right, you know?” Kaley suddenly appeared beside me.

“Right about what exactly?” I asked curiously.

“Rainer looks perfect for you” she said as she nudged me teasingly.

I chuckled.

“We don’t have that kind of relationship” I told her.

Kaley pouted.

“But you look so cute together” she said.

I looked at her with a small smile.

“I’m waiting for someone else, Kaley. Even Rainer knows that” I said.

Kaley just looked at me for a moment thena small smile formed on her face.

“Is it Luke’s father?” she asked curiously.

I turned to look at Luke and nodded.

“Was he…your first love?” Kaley asked again.

I chuckled a little and looked at her.

“Well, something like that” I said.

Kaley smiled as he looked at Rainer’s direction.

“But we’ll never know, right? You and Rainer really have some good chemistry. Who knows what the future will bring?” she said with a shrug.

I just chuckled.

The idea didn’t even cross my mind.

Yes, I’m very thankful of Rainer but I know my limits.

I also know my feelings.

It’s still Luan.

I wouldn’t want to hurt or waste the time someone like Rainer.

He doesn’t deserve that.

He’s a really amazing person who deserves so much better than I’ll ever be.

I sighed.

“Dear, can you come for a second” my grandma suddenly appeared.

“Of course, grandma. Is everything okay?” I asked.

“Everything is fine, darling. Your grandfather and I just need a private chat with you for a moment” she said.

I nodded.

“Okay, grandma. I’ll just quickly let Rainer know so he and Luke won’t ask where I suddenly disappeared to” I said.

Grandma nodded with a smile.

I excused myself and went to Rainer and Luke.

“Rainer” I called out softly.

Rainer turned to look at me.

“Yes?” he asked.

“I’m going to a private talk with my grandparents. Can you please keep looking after Luke for me?” I said.

Rainer nodded.

“No problem. Just take your time. It must be something important if they wanted a private talk” Rainer said.

I nodded in agreement.

“Thank you. I’ll be back as soon as I can” I said.

Rainer nodded.

I left to go see my grandparents in the balcony.

Grandma and grandpa stood side by side as they waited for me.

“Grandpa? Grandma?” I said to get their attention.

“Liviana, come here, dear” grandma saidas she motioned to me

They moved to make space for me and I stood between the two of them.

“What is it that you want to talk about, grandpa and grandma?” I asked curiously.

“Well, Liviana, your grandfather and I have been thinking about this for a while” grandma started.

I glanced at both of them curiously.

“As you know, it is your birth right to be crowned as Halo’s princess. And since you’re also the only heiress to the throne, it is a must for you to be officially crowned as royalty” grandpa continued.

I listened to them as they spoke.

“We’ve been keeping you in the palace long enough. At some point, we need to make everything official because as you see, your grandmother and I are already aging” he kept going.

That’s true.

My grandparents have really ruled for quite a while since my mother’s absence.

Someone was bound to take over the throne.

And I happened to come to the picture.

It was part of my fate.

But I wasn’t exactly sure if I was ready yet.

“But we will not be rushing you in taking over the throne immediately, dear. We just wanted to let you know in advance to prepare you” grandma said.

“We also guide you throughout your journey, Liviana. There is nothing to fear. All we ask now from you is to let us atleast crown you as Halo’s Princess because that’s part of your birth right as our granddaughter” grandpa stated.

“You can take your time in deciding what you want to do regarding the throne, darling. Your grandfather and I are no way in a rush. We know how much of a big responsibility it is” grandma added.

I looked at them for a moment.

“Grandpa, grandma…” I said as I glanced at the both of them.

My grandparents looked at me with hopeful eyes.

“I do want to take over the throne and lead Halo” I said.

A smile of relief immediately formed on their lips.

“But I do need a little more time to prepare myself. I haven’t been here long. I haven’t proven anything or done anything for the people of Halo. I want to be deserving of the throne. I wouldn’t want to take it just because it’s my birth right” I told them.

My grandparents nodded.

“Ang also, grandpa and grandma…” I said as I looked at them again.

“I plan on taking over the throne on my own. I do not wish to be betrothed to anyone just for connections of sorts. I strongly believe that I can be an effective leader with or without a partner” I firmly said.

My grandparents glanced at each other and at me.

“Of course. As you wish” grandpa said with a smile.

That was awfully easy.

I expected them to atleast somehow oppose to the idea.

I guess I judged my grandparents wrongly.

“But still, may I ask why, dear? I’m quite curious, you see” grandma asked curiously.

I chuckled.

“I do not wish to be paired up with someone who I do not love, grandma. I also do not want Luke to grow up having a father figure who I barely know just because I was fixed married to that man” I explained.

My grandparents nodded.

“Just like your mother” grandpa said chuckling as he gave me a gentle pat on the head.

“Bit what if you do like the person we’ll set you up with? Hmmm…. someone like Rainer perhaps?” grandma suggested.

“Selene” grandpa scolded.

“Grandma” I scolded.

Grandma pouted making us chuckle.

I smiled and nodded.

“Liviana, is there really nothing going on between you and Rainer? You both seem to be very fond of each other, you know?” grandma kept asking.

“Grandma, Rainer and I do not have that kind of relationship. I really am so thankful for him for staying by Luke and I’s side all the time all this time but there’s nothing romantic going on between us” I cleared out.

My grandmother sighed.

“Oh well, we’ll see. Things can change in the future, dear. Who knows what can happen? Your opinion on Rainer might change. And maybe your relationship with him will too” she said.

That’s what Kaley also said.

It seems that there’s quite a number of people who look at Rainer and I’s relationship ina different way.

It wasn’t anything romantic.

I don’t think Rainer thinks that way as well.

Atleast I think so.

Or does he?

I highly doubt that.

I’m sure that Rainer is more focused on more important things unlike romantic relationships.

After all, he’s still Halo’s head warrior.

And soon, he’ll really be back to his duties.

I’ll make sure of it.

My grandparents and I decided to talk about the further details of the princess coronation tomorrow morning instead.

They wanted it to be as soon as possible and I didn’t mind at all.

High officials, Alphas from different packs and other important people will be invited.

This way, Halo will finally recognize my presence.

Personally, it didn’t matter to me.

But I think this is another step forward to deepening my relationship and connection with the people of Halo.

After all, I was destined to lead not only Halo but Lunar as well in the future.

But for now, I’ll have to focus on Halo first.

Lunar can wait.

I need more time to realize my true power first before anything else.

I cannot come to war unprepared.

I refuse to come to war unprepared.

Specially not when I already have Luke.

I returned to where Rainer and Luke were.

Rainer was already carrying Luke in his arms.

As soon as Luke saw me, he stretched out his little hands to me.

“Mama” he said.

Rainer turned to look at my direction.

“You’re back” Rainer said with a smile.

I nodded as I took Luke from him.

Luke immediately wrapped his arms ti hug me and buried his face on my neck.

I smiled.

“He’s been looking for you” he said.

I looked at Luke with a smile.

“Did you miss mommy?” I said and booped Luke’s nose.

Luke giggled.

Such a cutie.

“How did the talk go?” Rainer asked.

“It went well” I said and leaned closer to Rainer.

“Do you want to know what we talked about?” I whispered to him.

Rainer chuckled and nodded.

“Will you tell me?” he asked.

I nodded.

It wasn’t like it was some type of secret.

Rainer pretty much knows everything about me as well.

At this point, he’s like my walking diary.

Who knew I’d ever be this open and vocal to someone?

I’ve really changed.

“We talked about the princess coronation” I whispered to him.

Rainer nodded.

“Oh that” he said.

He wasn’t even surprised.

I bet he already knew.

He really does know everything.

Anyway, I looked at Luke again.

My precious little.

I realized that I cannot be reckless anymore like I was back then.
