Chapter 0403 Enzoâs POV Jazzy was put in the holding cell, just underneath the Calypso packhouse, until further notice. We kept her shackled with cuffs that kept her powers locked away and to our surprise, she told her coven to let her go. It made me think she had other things planned and it worried me.
There were guards keeping their eyes on her 24/7; she wasnât to be alone.
Not even for a second.
When we first brought her to the holding cell, Alpha Bastien and I took turns asking her a series of questions.
âWhy were you working with Paul?â
âHow did you meet Paul?â âWhat was it that Paul was after?â âWhy didnât you fight us when we took you away from your coven?â She only sat there and stared at us with an expression that could only be described as amusement. She liked watching us squirm for answers and it was seriously pissing me off.
âWhy does it matter?â She said, staring between the two of us, âYou have me in your custody and Paul is dead. Isnât that what you wanted?â âWhy did you take Hazel?â Bastien asked, narrowing his eyes at her.
âWhat issues do you have with her?â
This made her laugh, and her laugh sent a chill down my spine.
âSheâs a traitor to her kind. She deserved everything that came to her,â Jazzy said and there wasnât an ounce of I pity in her voice.
âHow is she a traitor?â Bastien asked, glancing at me briefly before looking back at Jazzy who only rolled her eyes.
âHow is she not?!â Jazzy spat. âSheâs on the side of those wretched Volana wolves.â âIs that why you were siding with Paul?â I asked, stepping toward her cell. âBecause you wanted to get rid of them.â âThat pathetic rogue wanted to become one,â she said, rolling her eyes
again. âIt was quite sad. He was obsessed. He thought if he became one, heâd be the strongest being to ever exist. I went along with it because I had him under my complete control.
Whether he knew it or not. I was going to use him to take out the rest of the Volana population.â âWe would never let that happen,â Bastien said, shaking his head at her with disgust written all over his face.
âYou wouldnât have had a choice,â she said, a smile appearing on her lips.
âHe was going to turn himself into a Volana?â I asked, confused by the statement. âHow is that possible?â âYou need a witch and a Volana sacrifice,â she said, shrugging. âof course, he wants to be the strongest, so
a simple Volana wouldnât work. He needed the strongest Volana to ever exist if he wanted to harvest the strongest power.â My heart fell into my stomach; the strongest Volana to ever exist? I could tell Bastien was equally confused because he had a void look in his eyes as he glanced at me.
âWho is the strongest Volana?â I found myself asking.
I feared I already knew the answer.
But how could it be possible? How had we not known? She just learned how to control her abilities. It wasnât possible that Lila was the strongest Volana to ever exist. There was no hint of any indication that Jazzy was talking about Paul, but I couldnât shake the feeling
that Lila was indeed different than the others even if she was you ng. / Jazzy kept her eyes locked on mine and I saw the answers written in them.
âI'm bored of this conversation, Alphas,â she said, looking away from me. âI won't tell you anything more.â âTell me who the strongest Volana is!â I growled.
Bastien held his hand up to keep from going any closer.
âOh, but Alpha. You already know,â she said, that humor back in her eyes.
âWe need to get her away from here,â Bastien said to me in a low tone.
âNow.â
I nodded and turned away and as we started walking, I heard Jazzy's chilling words from her cell.
âThe product of true love between a Volana wolf and an Alpha will become the strongest Volana to ever exist. As long as she survives... the Volana population with rise. If she ceases to exist, the population will fall.â I only froze for a moment; Bastien grabbed my arm and pulled me further away. Jazzyâs words completed and only the echoes of her laughter could be heard.
Bastien was right; we had to get Lila out of here.
Lilaâs POV Enzo wouldnât let me see Jazzy for
myself, despite the fact that I had questions as well. I felt useless staying in the kitchen with Dee while the men I were downstairs questioning their new prisoner.
âHave you heard from your mother?â Dee asked after I finished filling her in on everything that had happened.
