Chapter 34: Coiled in Obsession.

The forest was no place for a sheep.

You knew this, yet you still wandered past the fields, past the safety of your flock, drawn by the whispering winds and the scent of the wildflowers that grew thick beneath the canopy. Your hooves pressed into the soft earth as you clutched the small basket of herbs you had been gathering. The sun had started to set, casting long, golden rays through the trees.

You should turn back.

Yet something held you still. A presence.

The hairs on the back of your neck rose. It was a feeling deep in your prey instincts, a warning etched into your very soul. Someone was watching.

You turned, ears twitching, but the forest was still. Too still.

A rustle. A flash of iridescent scales in the shadows.

And then she appeared.

A woman—or at least, the upper half of one. Her long hair was the color of moonlight, cascading over soft, pale shoulders. Her golden eyes, slit like a serpent’s, gleamed with an unnatural intensity. But below her waist, her body transformed, flowing seamlessly into the long, muscular coils of a lamia. Her scales shimmered in hues of deep green and gold as she emerged from the undergrowth.

“Oh my,” she purred, her voice smooth like honey, yet holding an underlying hunger. “What a lovely little creature I’ve found wandering my forest.”

You stepped back instinctively, gripping your basket tightly.

“I-I didn’t mean to trespass,” you stammered, throat dry. “I was just gathering herbs. I’ll leave now.”

She tilted her head, an eerie smile curving her lips. “Leave? But you only just arrived.”

Something cold brushed your ankle. You looked down in horror to see the tip of her tail curling toward you. You leaped back, heart pounding. She chuckled, a sound both musical and chilling.

“Oh, you’re skittish. How adorable.” Her tail coiled around a tree, her powerful body shifting effortlessly as she leaned in. “I’ve been watching you, little lamb. You’re different from the others. So soft. So delicate.”

Your breath hitched. “You’ve… been watching me?”

She sighed dreamily. “Of course. How could I not? You stand out so beautifully against the dullness of the world. I’ve longed to touch you, to keep you, to make you mine.”

Your stomach twisted in fear. “I belong to my flock. I have to go home.”

The moment the words left your lips, her expression darkened. Her golden eyes narrowed, and her smile faltered.

“Home?” she echoed, almost tasting the word. Then, her tail moved—too fast.

Before you could react, you were yanked off your feet. A strangled cry left your lips as her thick, muscular coils wrapped around you, pinning your arms to your sides. She lifted you effortlessly, your hooves kicking uselessly in the air. The warmth of her scales contrasted with the cool night air, and her hold, though unyielding, was strangely gentle.

“No, no, little lamb,” she murmured, her face inches from yours. “You don’t belong with them. They don’t appreciate you. They don’t see you the way I do.”

Your breath came in short, panicked gasps. “Please,” you begged. “Let me go.”

She pressed a cool hand against your cheek, her thumb stroking your skin in a mockery of comfort.

“I could never let you go,” she whispered. “Not when I’ve waited so long for you.”

Tears burned at your eyes as she tightened her hold just slightly, just enough to remind you of her power.

“Hush,” she cooed. “No more worries, my little lamb. You’ll see soon enough. You were meant to be mine.”

And as the last sliver of moonlight faded through the trees, you realized—there was no escaping her embrace.

Your world had shrunk.

Gone were the open fields, the gentle calls of your flock, the warmth of the sun on your wool. Now, your world was dim, lit only by scattered patches of light filtering through the thick canopy of the deep forest. The air was damp, rich with the scent of moss and wildflowers, yet it felt stifling.

And worst of all, you were not alone.

The lamia, your captor, had made sure of that.

She had brought you here—to a secluded part of the forest, hidden away in a nest woven from silk-like vines, lined with the softest moss. It might have been beautiful if not for the suffocating presence of her coils encircling you at all times.

She never left you.

She barely even loosened her grip.

Even now, as she hummed softly, her head resting on your shoulder, her tail was wrapped snugly around your legs, her scales warm against your wool.

"Still trembling, little lamb?" she mused, her fingers playing with a curl of your hair. "You’ve been here for days, yet you still resist me. It’s quite endearing."

You shuddered. "Please, let me go," you whispered for what must have been the hundredth time.

She sighed, as if your plea physically pained her. "Why do you keep saying such cruel things?" she murmured, her lips ghosting against your ear. "Haven't I been good to you? Haven’t I kept you warm, fed you, protected you?"

Protected. As if she weren’t the danger you needed protecting from.

Your body was weak from exhaustion, from the constant struggle against her unyielding grip. But your spirit still fought. "I want to go home," you whispered.

At that, she stilled.

The air grew thick, charged with something dark.

Her golden eyes, usually half-lidded in adoration, sharpened like the glint of a blade. "You are home," she said, her voice eerily calm.

Her tail shifted, tightening ever so slightly around your waist. Not enough to hurt. Just enough to remind you of her power.

Your breath hitched.

She cupped your face, tilting it toward her. "Why do you long for them?" she asked, her voice laced with something almost vulnerable. "Do you think they miss you? That they’d come looking?"

She smiled then, but it was sad. "They won’t. You know that, don’t you?"

A lump formed in your throat.

"You’re wrong," you whispered, but it lacked conviction.

She chuckled, the sound sending shivers down your spine. "Poor little lamb," she crooned, nuzzling against your hair. "You don’t understand, do you?"

Her tail curled higher, looping around your waist, your arms. Her body heat seeped into you, her scent wrapping around you like a drug. "They never deserved you," she murmured. "Not the way I do. They let you wander too far. They never came for you. But I did."

Her lips brushed against your temple.

"I will never let you go."

Tears burned your eyes, but you bit them back.

She held you closer, as if sensing your surrender. "Shhh, no more fighting, little one," she murmured, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "It’s time to accept your place. Safe in my coils, where you belong."

Her tail coiled tighter, her warmth seeping into your exhausted frame.

And this time, you didn’t struggle.
