Chapter 267
As soon as Maggie returned to her office, her phone rang
It was a call from Isabella.
Recalling Franklinâs intention to invite her to dinner earlier in the conference room, Maggie glanced at the incoming call from Isabella and decided not to answer.
Isabella called her three times in a row. Seeing that she hadnât answered, after a while, she sent a message.
âMom, Iâm going to participate in a fencing competition next month. Can you accompany me to my fencing training
tomorrow?â
Maggie paused for a moment when she saw the message, her hand tightening around the phone.
Ever since Franklin took Isabella to Country A more than two years ago, she had missed many things regarding Isabellaâs life.
For example, over the past two years, she had no idea what courses or interest classes Franklin had arranged for Isabella.
Before she had considered divorcing Franklin, she had asked Isabella about these matters, but Isabella had been unwilling to talk to her much.
If it werenât for this message now, Maggie wouldnât even have known that Isabella had learned fencing.
She had no idea that Isabella was preparing for a competition either.
She had missed so much of Isabellaâs growthâ¦
Lost in thought, Maggie stared at the message for a long time, unable to snap out of it.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Maggie came to her senses and said, âCome in.â
It was Glen.
He had come to discuss work with her.
When it came to work, Glen was always serious.
Tomorrow would be the weekend.

After finishing the work discussion, he remembered that he had wanted to ask her out earlier but had kept missing the opportunity. So, after their conversation about work ended, he didnât leave immediately. Instead, he asked, âI went to see a play a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was pretty interesting. Thereâs another show this week. Iâm planning to go again. Want to join me?â
Maggie thought about Isabellaâs message and shook her head, replying, âI have other plans on Saturday, so I wonât be able to make it.â
A hint of disappointment flashed in Glenâs eyes. âI secâ¦â
At that moment, Isabella, still waiting for a response, sent another message.
âMom, please reply to me soonâ¦â
Maggie saw the message and quickly typed a reply.
âI know, Mom will go with you to the training tomorrow morning.â
Seeing that she was busy, Glen didnât want to disturb her further and left.
Isabella was overjoyed when she saw that Maggie had replied and immediately called her.
Maggie picked up the phone, and Isabella immediately asked, âMom, you finally have time tomorrow!â
Maggie replied, âMm.â
Isabella happily asked, âThen, Mom, what time will you be home tonight?â
âMom wonât be coming home tonight,â Maggie said, her attention on the computer. âSend me the time and address for your training tomorrow, and Iâll go directly to the place where youâre training.â
Isabella had just returned home from school.
She stood in the living room of the villa, observing the few busy servants around her. She realized that it had been a long, long time since she last saw Maggie at home.
In fact, she couldnât even remember the last time Maggie had come home.
Hearing what Maggie said, she felt a little down, but the thought of Maggie accompanying her to the fencing training the next morning cheered her up. âOkay, Iâll have Dad send you the time and address right away!â
Maggie paused for a moment and then replied, âAlright, I know, Mom.â
Then she asked, âHave you gotten home?â
âI just got home.â

âGood.â Maggie said, âMom still has work to do, so Iâll hang up now. Take care of yourself.â
âI know, Mom. You take care too.â
âMm.â
