[Donaldâs Perspective]
When the three of us reached the basement, the werewolf was unconscious.
Benjamin stepped forward to check his breathing and nodded at us to show that he was still alive.
âDo you want to give him this drug now, Your Majesty?â
Benjamin carefully took a small bottle from inside his shirt. The liquid inside was orange-red.
Benjamin said apologetically, âMy medicine isnât as pure as theirs. Perfect medicine should be pink, but to ensure effectiveness, I made some extra. It will definitely work.â
Armstrong looked curiously at the small bottle in Benjaminâs hand.
I groaned. âIf we donât give him enough drugs, will he wake up?â
âAs long as thereâs an effective constituent, itâll work. If thereâs not enough, itâll only wake him up for a short time. His life will be in danger soon.â
âThen give him a little amount that will wake him up,â I ordered.
Benjamin gave me a puzzled look but carried out the order.
I turned to Armstrong and said, âDidnât get any useful information out of him?â
Armstrong shook his head. âItâs all irrelevant,â he said. âHeâs very cunning. He was always trying to skirt the topic. He even tried to get information out of us.
......
So far we donât know anything except that his name is Blackie. Thatâs the name. We canât be sure itâs his real name.â
I turned my gaze to the werewolf who called himself Blackie, who had just been injected by Benjamin. âMaybe weâll get more answers today,â I said.
Benjamin had said earlier that the enemy was using the drug to control them, and that the drug was extremely addictive.
Benjaminâs drug could have the same effect then.
A personâs willpower might be able to fight pain and torture, but it was difficult to fight a physiological reaction. That was the scary thing about this drug. It drove the werewolfâs physical reaction, making human nature submit to bestiality.
This captive in front of me had hurt Margaret and almost killed her. Whatever I did to him was reasonable.
In fact, it was a mercy that he was still alive. If he hadnât been useful, I would have torn his throat out in the forest and made him pay for his sins with blood.
And I had to admit that although this behavior was cruel, it was extremely effective. Because of this, the use of this drug should never be extended. Once more people knew that such a thing existed, someone with ulterior motives would use it for evil. It would cause social unrest and affect the stability of all werewolf packs.
âItâll take some time for him to recover,â Benjamin judged, flipping Blackieâs eyelids. âAbout 10 to 15 minutes. The dose I gave him will keep him awake for an hour, but Iâm afraid heâll only be able to communicate effectively for half an hour. The second injection has to be done within 12 hours at the latest, or heâll be dead.â
âWe have enough time.â Armstrong and I looked at each other.
I asked Benjamin, âHow much of this drug did you make?â
âBecause itâs only in the experimental stage and I didnât make much. I only used it for research and didnât think that it would be useful. At the moment, thereâs only a sufficient amount. If I inject all of it into him now, it can probably last until his next attack. Itâll be about a week.â
Benjamin hesitated, then said, âBut Iâm not sure that the current method of multiple injections in small doses will affect him. If the cycle is shortened, then the timing is still uncertain.â
âA week⦠Given our situation, we might not keep him alive until then,â Armstrong said.
I did a mental calculation and asked, âBenjamin, you didnât take long to make this drug, did you?â
Benjamin nodded and said, âTheyâre all common materials. Itâs not complicated. The difficult part is how to improve the drug.â
âThatâs enough for now. You can continue your research, but donât make any more drugs. If there are any failed experiments, you have to destroy them,â I said solemnly. âI told you before to keep this a secret. Do you remember?â
Benjamin said quickly, âI havenât told anyone about this.â
I nodded slightly. âThatâs good. You have to keep it a secret in the future. This drug is too dangerous. It canât be used by someone with ulterior motives.â
âI understand, Your Majesty,â Benjamin said.
âAhâahâ!â
There was a sudden muffled roar in the room. All three of us turned to look. Blackie slowly opened his eyes in front of us. His blood-colored wolf eyes glared at us.
