Max sat in the backseat of the car with Elly and left for Lorenz Mansion.
"Look I understand what you did and why you did...but you didn't have to go that farâ¦" Max looked at her with a bitter face. He didn't like the noble society and didn't treat himself a noble as well.
It wasn't a surprise that he let it slip from his mind earlierâ¦.and ended up not realising that the place wasn't suitable for a person of his stature...and even if he wanted to go, he shouldn't have done it so openly....
"How did I take it so far? I only said you were my boyfriend. There shouldn't be much of a problem..." Elly replied as she looked at him.
"You really have no problem with this thing? You really don't wanna get out of this mess? Such an important decision of your life and you don't even get to decide it yourself...don't tell me you are fine with it." Max asked as he looked at her with a frown.
"I am fine with itâ¦." Elly replied as she looked outside the window.
Max looked at her and couldn't help but ask with a frown, "Don't you ever wanna speak your mind?"
"Why does it matter to you? You want to break the engagement...you shouldn't be concerned with me in that caseâ¦.do what you think is right..."
Max's frown deepened and he grabbed her arm and turned her towards him, "Why do you keep acting like thatâ¦say it clearly...I don't want your grandpa and all...I just want to know what you are thinking..."
Elly shook his hand off and looked at him, "Fine, I will do it now!! Don't go looking for those cheap girls when I am hereâ¦Why can't you just accept this?!''
"You really think we are a good match?'' Max asked as he looked at her
"We aren't the worstâ¦besides, arranged marriages are common in noble society....this is how it would have been for meâ¦.if it wasn't you, it would have been someone else and I still would have done the sameâ¦.."
"I wanna move ahead with it...if we don't even try we won't get anywhereâ¦.it's true that I don't love you but what's so strange about it we have been friends for less than a week.....but still when I found out it was you, I was relieved. After all, it could have been a lot worse...but I think I celebrated too earlyâ¦it would have been better if it wasn't you...at least I wouldn't have a false hopeâ¦but it's not the first time that my hopes got shattered...I guess I need to get used to it now..." Elly said and turned her head away.
"Anyways, even if you plan to break the engagement. You are free to do and I won't blame you...but until you can do so...please refrain from any action like that of todayâ¦."
Max looked at her, but didn't reply. He could understand her words. This was what he was afraid of...he might not be emotionally invested in this but what about herâ¦.he is not taking it seriously but she definitely was.â¦.he wasn't used to the way of nobles society and didn't care for it...but that might not be true for herâ¦.
Maybe he was doing wrong to herâ¦..but what about his own will? It was his fault for not clarifying things with the old man butâ¦does that mean he had to accept all of this now?
And there was still Lisaâ¦.you can't just f*cking ask him to be with two people at the same timeâ¦
Max began to have a headache. Why were things not going his way?
He looked at Elly who had turned her head away. But what was he supposed to sayâ¦how could he comfort her when he was source of her problemâ¦..
The two kept a silence all the way to the Lorenz House.
"It doesn't seem like they are in the best moodâ¦" Loren Lord said as he snooped on them from the window.
"And whose fault do you think it is? They obviously had a fight over itâ¦" Sirius looked at him, the old may was playing a fool pretending not to know.
â¦.
As soon as Max entered the mansion, he went towards his room.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"You look tense? Is everything fine?"
Max turned his head on hearing the voice and his eyes flickered for a second.
It was Ifrit.
"No, it's nothingâ¦" Max replied as he scanned him. Unexpectedly, he couldn't feel any demonic aura from him at all.
Why did he retract his aura?
Max was not sure. He still couldn't figure out anything about this person. He worked like any other guy and there was nothing suspicious about him.
"Well, it's fine then...anyway, Sir Sirius has called for youâ¦" Ifrit said with a smile.
Max nodded and went towards Sirius's chambers wondering what it was nowâ¦
...
On the other sideâ¦
"You are back, Elly?" Lisa asked as he looked at her.
But Elly ignored her and directly walked into the washroom and slammed the door shut.
Aria and Lisa exchanged a look. This wasn't like herâ¦..
Elly held her head inside the washroom a bit was depressed. She didn't know why she said all those thingsâ¦.
It wasn't like her to lose calmâ¦.
"What am I doing?"
â¦.
Max looked at the two people in the room. Well, he was expecting to see the Lorenz Lord soon. Just what forced the old man to give her granddaughter to a guy like him who already had someoneâ¦.
Just what was this person looking forâ¦..
"Siriusâ¦." Lorenz Lord spoke.
Sirius stood up and then left the room. The old man then looked at Max and asked, "Why don't you take a seat? I am sure you have some questions in your mind as wellâ¦"
Max sat in front of him.
"Go aheadâ¦" the old man said as he looked at him.
"Why me?" Max asked as he looked at him.
"Because you can protect her and probably keep her happy as well...at least you won't make her sadâ¦.I believe itâ¦'' the old man replied.
"I think there are a lot of people who could do better than me in that aspectâ¦." Max replied.
The old man shook his head, "I want to protect her from the Ancient Familiesâ¦you still think there are a lot of people?"
Max's brows twitched when he heard that.
"Why do you need to protect her from the Ancient families?"
The old man looked at him, "Has she told you about her parents?"
Max shook his head.
The old man sighed and then finally he began to talkâ¦.
