Alex slowly walked towards the booths in the back silently hoping that no one was there, but to her dismay, two figures sat I the farthest booth talking in hushed tones. It seemed as if a tense conversation was taking place, as if her gaze summoned their attention, both figures turned to stare at her. Black swiveling pools of darkness collided with her own icy blue ones. it was too late to turn around now, Alexandra thought as she made her way further to the back and maneuvered towards them.

"do you guys need anything?" she asked with her usual fake cheerful tone once she was close enough to the table, both of the figures' gazes were still locked on her and it gave her an irksome feeling inside, a feeling that screamed 'RUN' to Alex, but she simply ignored it., she turned to face the figure on her left. a man, no more than thirty years old, sat hunched forward with his elbows on the table. His face was quite beautiful with a chiseled jaw and slightly tan complexion, his lips full and seemingly firm stretched into a fine line, chocolate colored eyes showing compassion contrasted drastically with his furrowed eyebrows and almost frustrated expression.

She turned to the left to look at the woman who'd locked eyes with her a few moments ago and was met with the same ruthless gaze, her charcoal hair was loose and cascading down one of her shoulders, her fair complexion free of any blemish and her dark tinted lips almost temptingly kissable. A fleeting thought passed through her mind, 'this woman is breathtaking' she thought 'but not as beautiful as Asha'.

As soon as she'd realized what she thought she shook her head in an effort to chase the thought away. The man that had sat silent so far cleared his throat loudly breaking the star contest between Alex and Ishtar. The blonde snapped her attention towards the man and gave him her signature 'faux' smile. He faintly smiled at her

"no, we're good" he began "we'll be sure to cal you if we do" he concluded and flashed the blonde a warm smile that didn't quite reach his eyes but she didn't fuss over it and took her leave, walking away from the strange duo.

After that weird encounter, the remainder of the day passed by in a blur and before she knew it, Alex was packing up and walking home. Something about the quietness of the night made her feel like she belonged there, in the warm embrace of darkness. Once she was inside her all too familiar apartment, Alexandra walked straight towards her bedroom. The sun had set and the hustle and bustle of the crowd would soon diminish and fade into silence. She grabbed her towel and her shampoo and body gel walking towards the bathroom for a warm shower.

Asha sat in her office doing paperwork and sorting the various businesses belonging to the vampire elders when Elia walked in followed by four vampires. Asha looked up and motioned for them to have a seat. She then proceeded to pile the paper and lock them into a drawer in her desk away from prying eyes.

The redhead vampire leaned back in her seat and looked at the vampires " I've called you here today because of your re-assignment. This mission will only concern the people in this room, you will report only to me. With that said I'll begin briefing you on your mission" she spoke, her tone confident and resolute, as if her moment of weakness from the previous day had never existed. Elia sat in Asha's office listening to her explain and stress how important this assignment was and how severe the consequences be if Amira, David, Genevieve and Gordon were to fail.

After she was done speaking and the vampires had accepted their mission, everyone exited the office leaving Asha and Elia to talk in private.

"so this is why you wanted these specific vampires. I see why you chose them, very strategic of you Asha" Elia said with a slight smile gracing his lips

the redhead nodded at him and reached for her pack of cigarettes lighting one and slipping it between her lips. She took a drag of it and exhaled the smoke after a few seconds.

"this is crucial Elia, the coming days won't get any easier" she explained and took another drag, puffing the smoke in circles then resumed " you should go and spend time with Cheyenne, she probably misses you, I know I've been keeping you apart with your tasks" she added and smiled at her friend. It's true he was a fourth generation vampire but his loyalty earned him a place at the top of Asha's ally list.

After her warm bath, Alexandra snuggled under her heavy quilt as she felt the exhaustion take over her body and sleep creep up on her. Her breaths soon became deep and relaxed as she fell into peaceful slumber, but the serenity she was feeling didn't last long and just like most nights, her dreams had morphed into a horror show.

She ran and ran but something or rather someone was gaining up on her, she bid her feet to go faster but as she ran he felt her limbs going numb from the exhaustion. She spared a millisecond to look back but was met with darkness, Her feet gave out under her and she fell toppling to the ground. In a moment's clarity she saw him. tall, muscular and blond. It was Gabriel, but somehow he was different, his smile wasn't charming and irresistible, it was closer to cruel and malicious.

His teeth that she remembered as straight and pearly white were jagged and sharp almost like an animal's. he let out a blood curdling laugh as he approached towards her and in a blink of an eye he was on top of her. It was like all of a sudden she was paralyzed and all she could do was watch. Pain shot through her neck as she begged him to stop but her pleas fell upon deaf ears, slowly everything began to blur and merge with the darkness surrounding them, the last face she'd seen floating from afar was Asha's and then everything went black.

Alex woke up startled, a cold sweat covering her body and her hand clutching at her neck, she didn't know what she was dreaming of, she couldn't remember anything. None of it made sense. Asha told her she'd fell but she was guessing it wasn't true. Then he remembered, Asha. The day they'd met they had kissed twice and nothing had ever felt more real or more satisfying to Alex. She brought her hand to her lips as she remembered their kisses but shook her head to snap herself out of the daze.

Alexandra hurriedly got dressed with whatever she could reach, grabbing her phone and keys she left her apartment and opted for a walk, some fresh air might help clear her mind, she thought.

as she began walking she thought of everything that's happened, how she ended up at the club that night, how fun Gabriel was. She took a deep breath and sighed, she couldn't believe how low she had let down her guard last night, he seemed like a nice guys and so easy to talk to. Ten Asha popped into her mind. She'd been thinking about the redhead constantly, and a subtle urge deep within wanted to see Asha again.

She didn't even notice where he was going, she let her feet take her wherever seemed fit ad once he looked up she was shocked to see that she stood in front of club V. it looked as gloomy as ever on the outside but she knew better. She debated whether to cross the street and go inside to see the beautiful redhead or turn around and head home, her internal struggle lasted mere minutes but to Alex, her uncertainty made them seem like hours. With shaky determination she took the few steps across the street and walked up to the scary looking bouncer guarding the door

"hi" she spoke t first waiting for the man to reply, he glanced at her and then returned his focus straight ahead

"um...I'm, I wanted to ask is Asha....I don't know her last name works here and if it's possible to talk to her" she spoke looking at the bouncer who didn't chance a second look at her until she said Asha's name. he then began to frown his features going from serious to curious and frowning

"what's your business with her?" he asked, his voice deep and rough and just as scary as his threatening posture

ale didn't know how to answer that until she remembered it was none of his business " take me to her, and I can tell her my business" she replied almost confidently but on the inside she was cowering in fright. He looked at her for a minute and his frown deepened.

He brought his hand up to his mouth and spoke into the intercom "inform Asha she has a visitor" he looked at Alex ""you. What's your name?"

she frowned looking at him, how rude! She thought but brushed the thought aside "Alexandra" she answered and waited, the guard added her name, as if Asha would remember her. But to her surprise the guard nodded and took her by the arm, which seemed like a vice grip, and brought her inside the club.

Soon enough she was being dragged up the all too familiar red stairs and downs a narrow hall, as soon as they reached the final door the guard let her go and glared at her one last time before turning and leaving her alone. She pondered a moment but knocked on the door nonetheless.
