Chapter 13: Ch .8.

Alexandra was sucked into one of her panic attacks, her shaking form pressed up against the head board and her knees brought up to her chest. Asha was confused as to what was happening, one minute Alex was fine, leaning in to kiss Asha and the next she was a crying panicking heap, balled up and shivering. The redheaded vampire slowly made her way onto her knees on the bed and approached the scared form cautiously, Asha lifted her hand to place it on the blonde's cheek but Alexandra flinched away.

"Ssh Alex, its only me" the vampire cooed softly into Alex's ear in an attempt to sooth the panic coursing through her veins. The blonde barrista was caught in her own nightmare, the red hallways of club V were blurry and the loud thump of music were like a distant memory but the evil intentions that lingered in the monster's eyes as it stalked towards her terrified Alexandra. She felt everything as if it was happening all over again; With each step, those glowing steel eyes came closer and sharpened fangs glistened in the dark. Alex was cornered and the creature kept coming closer, its features starting to get clearer; the dim light reflecting off porcelain skin and golden hair inspired dread in Alex, the chiseled jaw and sinister smirk paralyzing her completely.

Asha wrapped her arms around the quivering barrista and whispered to her soothingly even though she remained unresponsive. The elder vampire was extremely worried that what happened in the club was haunting her beloved human but there was no way to be sure unless...

Asha hesitated, asking jade to do this was beyond immoral; she would be breaching the blonde's subconscious and manipulating her thoughts which was both forbidden in most cases and morally wrong but the vampoire had no other choice. It was either tell Alex her worst nightmare was true and possibly be forced to let the girl go or she could induce her subconscious into blocking the memory as if it had never happened.

Asha sighed still rubbing the girl's arms soothingly, Alex's breathing had gotten slower and her sobbing reduced into whimpers. The blonde had fallen asleep in Asha's arms but the vampire had wished it was under different circumstances.

Circe was still engrossed in the search of her book while Iris walked around the massive hall.

"What do I need the blood for?" The tattooed vampire wondered "and would anyone I've sired be affected by this ritual?" She added examining a blue whithered herbology book on one of the lower shelves

Circe didn't reply while she kept looking for the spell book that she needed but it was nowhere in sight. She sighed audibly and headed towards the pile of books stacked near the desk, with one flick of her wrist the pile levitated off the marble floor and a single book isolated from the pile that then set itself back onto the floor. Redd flipped through the book in a languid manner scanning over the pages for a moment but came to a stop. The witch read the spell over silently while iris stood there awkwardly

"The blood is for your recovery process, you'll be weak after the ritual, you will also need a few things to complete the ritual. But for the potion i need you to provide me with a few things" Redd explained as she read over the potion. These ingredients were nearly impossible to find

"What do you need?" Caldwell spoke up calmly

"The blood of the original immortal or the one who sired you, not much just a vial or two, a phoenix's ashes fresh after its death and freshly extracted Brugmansia Sanguinea poison" the witch explained thoughtfully, mentally going through her inventory search I for the rest of the ingredients

"How about everyone I've sired? You never answered me" iris insisted but the witch sighed

"It's very rare for a vampire who has sired someone to still be sired to their creator, the fact is you may break your bond to your sire and that could free those you sired too but it can also mean that anyone you've sired might suffer separation pain" Redd explained to the raven haired vampire.

Iris stared at her in bewilderment "separation pain?"

"Extreme pain, almost paralyzing, due to the breaking of the bond. It's like having a part of your soul ripped from you. Separation pain usually subsides after a few days if you're strong enough to sustain it, of not it may kill you"

Would iris really put Adriana and Gabriel at risk? Could she really risk their deaths just to free herself from Sekhemet? She was doing this to protect her lover but she may just end up killing both him and Adriana, who's only fault was that she was still too young to survive without the sire bond.

Iris had a lot to consider but she needed to get the requirements ready, the blood of an elder or original immortal was a tough task as it is. No one could beat the original immortal, Bashaa was invincible and the elders had especially exceptional fighting skills. She needed to outsmart them if she wanted to get either of their bloods. The burgmansia poison wouldn't be easy to import from Japan either because it was an illegal and rare plant, extinct in all the wilderness of the world. Acquiring some from the black market on her own would raise a whole lot of suspicion and last but most importantly, phoenix ashes; the holy grail of resurrections. It was rumored that only a few dozen phoenixes still remained in present days, hidden somewhere in Piz Badile, the granite mountain range in the Bregaglia range on the border between Switzerland and Italy.

Ishtar and Viktor were seated across from Bashaa in one of the lounge rooms above club V, the ambient music like a soft whisper in the background. The original immortal's features were marred with suspicion and worry, Ishtar had made it quite clear that something unexpected and vile was about to happen and they were all concerned. Even though Asha wanted to keep her human away from the academy, things were going to get ugly and the redhead will need their help. The troubling images Ishtar had seen when she tasted the elder's blood rushed into her mind and a visible wave of unease crippled her for a moment, Viktor didn't fail to notice this but kept quiet. He'd been on the raven haired woman's bad side ever since they came back from the coffee shop where Alex worked.

Asha laid silently on the blonde's bed with a sleeping Alex curled into her, subtle whimpers interrupting the morning silence every now and then, she had carried the barrista down from the daybed on the roof and into her own bed some time before dawn. The redhead had stayed all night with Alex as she slept, comforting her every time her nightmares started up again. The night was long and tiresome but she just couldn't leave Alexandra alone. The vampire slid out of bed carefully, not wanting to wake alex and tiptoed into the hallway that lead to, what she assumed, was the kitchen. The apartment was average sized with two bedrooms, a living room, dining room and kitchen. Asha could tell that the entertainment room on the roof wasn't originally a part of the flat but it was a great addition.

Alex stirred in her sleep, flipping onto her side, she was still hazy from the sleep but she could faintly smell a scent of vanilla and exotic fruit that lingered on her pillow. For a brief moment she thought the previous night was a dream, the first night she'd dreamt of something different, the first time in weeks that her sleep wasn't plagued by him.

She was about to settle back into her warm sheets when a clatter caught her attention, she thought she was alone in her home but maybe not. She bolted up from her mattress and reached for the nearest thing she could use as a weapon but the oval shape and smooth texture of the object were foreign. Alex looked into her hand to find a caramel colored oval object with a gold band nearly at the first quarter of the object, the blonde frowned and attempted to pull it open. The large lower part of the object easily slid open to reveal a beautifully carved push blade, complete with Celtic designes down the middle and wave like shapes on the edges of the blade. Alex didn't know who put it in her room but whoever did was now roaming free in her apartment and proof to that were the hushed murmurs coming from behind her door.

She gripped the knife tightly with one hand and the sheath with the other, slowly making her way out of the room and towards the intruders. Both voices were distinctly female but that didn't reassure the blonde. She peaked around the corner and into the kitchen as she made her way over, hands shaking and heart pounding loudly. As she made it to the kitchen she noticed to figures, a fiery redhead and a brown haired woman that was not short of a goddess.

The redhead was shirtless with her back to where Alex stood as she whispered vehemently at the the brown haired goddess who had her eyes closed and head tilted back, apparently annoyed with the other woman but her eyes snapped open suddenly and landed on Alex, the goddess let out a loud hiss causing the redhead to spun around almost immediately

"Asha?" Alexandra was stunned for a moment and briefly distracted by the redhead's bare chest covered only by a pastel pink strapless bra with black lace

"What are you doing here and who the hell is that? And why are you shirtless?" Alex questioned hastily, nodding towards the unknown woman

"Alex calm down" Asha began to say and made her way towards the blonde "set down the knife and I'll explain" she prompted as the girl narrowed her eyes at the vampire. After a moment's debate Alex sheathed the weapon and handed it to the redhead "now please explain" she added with a heavy sigh

"This is my friend Amira, I called her so she could drop off some clothes for me so I can change" the redhead explained setting the knife down on the granite countertop

"Why would you be in my house? And shirtless, in my kitchen with your friend?" Alex asked again

"Because you drove my car last night Alex, and we came to your hou-"

Amira interrupted the redhead mid explanation "hold on a second! SHE drove your fastback? I've known you what...Two centuries and you never let me drive the fastback!" The brown haired vampire said with a hint of outrage

Asha prayed Alex didn't catch onto the time reference but knowing the blonde was too smart for it to pass by unnoticed, she prepared herself for the barrage of questions.

"First off Amira, no matter how long I've known you, you're a reckless driver so I would never hand you the keys to my baby" she paused and glared st her friend who seemed to notice what she said and was inwardly praying Alex would consider it a metaphor or something

"As I was saying Alexandra, you drove us here and were up on the roof drinking coffee and something happened, you ended up having a panic attack and passed out. I couldn't leave you out there or alone for that matter so I stayed" she smiled lightly but it never reached her eyes. Alex dismissed the thought and nodded somehow knowing Asha was telling her the truth this time.

Everyone stood there awkwardly, the silence bearing heavy until Asha remembered what she was doing before Amira dropped by

"Alex I've made breakfast if you're hungry, coffee is brewed and hot though I didn't know of you're a vegetarian so I made waffles and omelettes" Asha went on while Amira snickered loudly behind her.

The redhead turned with a serious glare aimed at the Arabian vampire "Amira you have three seconds to leave our you'll be leaving out the window"

The brown haired woman gulped loudly and complied without a second of hesitation. All jokes aside, Asha was still an elder and disobeying her had serious consequences.

Alex chuckled at how fast Amira seemed to comply and shook her head lightly "thank you for not leaving, the last thing I remember was taking you up to the roof and then nothing....you said something happened, could you tell me what that was?"

The slightest tint of a blush made its presence known on Asha's cheeks but it instantly made way to the vampire's trademark seductive smirk "I can show you better than I can tell you" the redhead whispered, still clad in only her bra from the waist up

Alex was confused at this, how was Asha going to show her? The confusion only lasted for a moment as the woman in question leaned incredibly close to the blonde, brushing their lips lightly together and murmured "just. Like. That" the vampire spoke and nibbled softly on Alexandra's lower lip, making her knees buckle beneath her.

She wrapped her arms around the taller woman's neck bringing them flush together while their tongues dueled restlessly. It reassured Alexandra to know that Asha felt the same kind of attraction as she did, even though they're basically strangers
