Chapter 41: The Big Relevation

LOVE OR REVENGEWords: 2381

One week had passed since Gayathri discovered she was pregnant, but she hadn't mustered the courage to share the news with Vivek. She had been feeling tired and nauseous, but she had brushed it off as stress and overwork.

But on this particular Friday morning, Gayathri woke up feeling worse than ever. She struggled to get out of bed, and Vivek, who was busy with his morning yoga, noticed that something was off.

"Gayathri, I've been noticing that you're not well for the past two days," Vivek said, concern etched on his face. "You're burdened with work load, both home and hospital. You have to take some rest."

Gayathri tried to brush it off, but Vivek's mother, who was watching from the kitchen, chimed in. "Gayathri, what's wrong with you? You look tired. If you're not well, you better take rest."

Gayathri forced a smile and replied, "Nothing like that, Amma. I'm fine."

But as the day went on, Gayathri's condition worsened. She made Vaiga ready for school, but when they sat down for lunch, Gayathri suddenly felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She rushed to the wash basin and threw up.

Vivek was alarmed and rushed to her side. "What's wrong with you, Gayathri? Come, let's go to the hospital. I've been watching you for two days, and you're not well."

Vivek's mother, who had been watching from the sidelines, smiled mischievously and teased, "Dr. Gayathri doesn't know the reason? Then how will her IPS husband know it?"

Vivek shot his mother a frustrated look. "Mom, tell me clearly, without making it complicated. What's going on?"

His mother chuckled and replied, "My foolish son, I think your wife is pregnant!"

Vivek's eyes widened in shock, and he turned to Gayathri, who was standing frozen, her face pale.

"Is this true, Gayathri? Are you pregnant?" Vivek asked, his voice trembling with excitement.

Gayathri nodded slowly, and Vivek's face lit up with joy. He pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her forehead.

"I'm going to be a father!" Vivek exclaimed, his voice filled with emotion.

Gayathri smiled, feeling a mix of emotions. She was happy, but also nervous about the future.

Vivek's mother smiled, happy to see her son and daughter-in-law so happy. "I knew it," she said, patting Gayathri's back. "I knew you were pregnant."

As they hugged and congratulated each other, Gayathri couldn't help but feel grateful for this new chapter in their lives.
