Within half an hour of their confrontation, Vivek left the house, wearing his police uniform. Gayathri was still trying to process what had happened.
At 4 pm, Vaiga returned home from school. "Mom, where's Dad?" she asked, looking around the room.
Gayathri forced a smile. "He's had to go out for some work, sweetie. He'll be back soon."
Vaiga looked concerned, but Gayathri reassured her that everything was fine.
The rest of the day passed uneventfully, but Vivek didn't return home.
The next morning, Gayathri was getting ready to leave for the hospital when she heard the sound of the front door opening.
Vivek walked in, looking tired but composed. His eyes locked onto Gayathri's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.
Vaiga, who was playing in the living room, ran to her father, excitedly calling out "Dad!"
Vivek's expression softened as he hugged Vaiga. "Hey, my little one! How are you?"
Gayathri felt a pang of tension as she watched Vivek and Vaiga interact. She couldn't help but remember the events of the previous day.
Gopi Anna also came that morning. As Vivek spent the day with Vaiga, Gayathri left for the hospital, feeling a mix of emotions. It was a Saturday and holiday for Vaiga.
"I'll be back soon, Vaiga," Gayathri said, hugging her daughter.
"Okay, Mom," Vaiga replied, waving goodbye.
As the day went by, Vivek and Vaiga grew closer, playing games and watching TV together.
When Gayathri returned home in the evening, Vivek was sitting on the sofa, wearing his police uniform. His eyes met Gayathri's, and the tension between them was palpable.
Gayathri felt a shiver run down her spine as Vivek stood up, his movements deliberate. Without a word, he walked out of the house, leaving Gayathri feeling uneasy.
That night also Vivek didn't came home. From Gopi Anna she understood Vivek won't come that night.
Next day is sunday.
Sunday passed quietly at home. Gayathri spent the day with Vaiga, trying to keep her mind off Vivek's absence.
Vivek didn't return home that day either. Gayathri didn't hear from him directly, but Gopi Anna informed her that Vivek had called him to say he would be away for the day.
Gayathri felt a mix of emotions: concern, anger, and uncertainty. Where was Vivek? And why wasn't he coming home?
She couldn't help but think back to their earlier days together. Five years ago, when they were married, Vivek wasn't so busy. He would spend his Sundays with her, taking her out on romantic dates or simply lounging around the house together.
