Amaris led me down the long passage at a brisk pace. I had to stretch my legs to keep up with him, barely having the chance to admire the elaborate wall tapestries and gilded framed paintings that decorated the walls.

“Where are we going?” I tugged at his jacket sleeve to get his attention.

“You should familiarize yourself with the castle. I don’t want a repeat of what happened last night.” He didn’t slow down for a second and I wondered how the heck was I supposed to know my way around if he blitzed down the passages like he was.

As if he read my mind he came to a sudden stop. “You ran right into Sorin’s wing last night.” He pointed to his right and sure enough, the passage carried on towards the east.

“Well, I didn’t know.” I muttered. I was only doing what he ordered me to do – get out of his room.

Amaris lifted my chin with his index finger, and I was dumbstruck by the tingles that ran down my skin. His eyes seemed to sear into my deepest thoughts. “I want you to stay away from Sorin and Helen. They are not your

friends.”

I had a different opinion. They seemed more friendly towards me than Amaris himself. A shudder went through me remembering how he dominated me through the night. He didn’t make love to me like I used to dream my mate would, no, he possessed me like a demon.

“Are you alright?” A frown flickered across his handsome face for a brief time. his thumb flicked across my lips, and I couldn’t find my voice, so I just nodded.

“You look very elegant.” He said as he pulled my arm through his and we carried on down a passage to the left. “These rooms are for guests.” We passed several closed doors. “Your duty as my queen would be to see that our guests are well taken care of. The staff is at your disposal. If they give you any problems, you come to me, and I will deal with it.” He opened a door to one of the rooms and we went inside. To my astonishment, he locked the door. “Of course, your first and foremost duty is to serve your king.” he said with a smirk as I looked up at him wide-eyed. My back was pressed against the door and his hands caged me in.

“I… don’t know what you mean.” I gulped; he couldn’t possibly want to… He started unbuttoning my blouse.

“Oh…”

“You’re too hot to resist.” He peeled my jacket and blouse off my shoulders in one go, capturing my arms behind.

I was powerless in his embrace, melting under the wet teasing of his tongue on my hardened nipples. My breath ragged, I gasped his name as his fingers delved into my pants, probing for my sweet spot.

Amaris jumped back to get out of the way of my claws. “Tasha? That is your name, isn’t it?” he sounded. amazingly calm considering my wolf was trying to kill him.

“Yes,” she growled deeply, threatening, and I felt hair beginning to sprout over my body. She was forcing the change.

Amaris’ wolf shone through his eyes, but Amaris kept him at bay. He held out his hands in a defensive manner. “Tasha, I would never hurt you or Raine. Calm down. Trust me.”

“No!” she snapped at him.

‘Tasha!’ I screamed at her, ‘Stop it!’

She wouldn’t listen. My clothes ripped as my bones rearranged themselves and Tasha shook herself, completing the change. I yelled and cursed at her, but she was too far gone in her anger to listen. She blocked me out.

Amaris let his wolf take control. Tasha cringed back from the giant, black wolf, but refused to submit to him although his aura was so powerful it filled the bedroom and pressed down on us. Why was my wolf so bl ody

Rage circled her, his ears and tail erect, but he didn’t growl. She kept her hindlegs close to the floor, never taking her eyes off him, waiting for him to attack. I kept praying to the moon goddess to save us, to help Tasha, to let

me take back control.

Unexpectedly Rage sat down. He just sat and watched her, his head askance. She growled low, warning him not to come too close. He didn’t move from his spot. He waited.

Her breathing and heart rate slowed little by little and still watching him, she laid down with her head on her paws. I held my breath, wishing I could link with Amaris to know what was going on.

The big, black wolf lowered his head and made a whining noise at the back of his throat. He sniffed in Tasha’s direction. Slowly he got up and moved towards her, step by cautious step.

Her growl changed into a low mewl when Rage towered above her. He wagged his tail, and panted, long, red tongue hanging out. Slowly Tasha rolled over on her back, exposing her throat and her belly to him. I exhaled a long, deep breath, thanking the goddess for mercy.

Rage licked her face and ears in earnest, and she let him. Her hold on me slipped and I took back control and changed back into my human form. Amaris did the same. Naked as the day we were born we sat facing each

other on the floor.

“I’m so sorry. I had no idea she was so angry.” I started to apologize but he stopped me by pulling me against his

chest.

“She was devastated by the rejection, she never wanted to accept it, Raine. It’s okay.” He kissed my temple. “She’s still not sure, but Rage will eventually win her over.”

‘He has to earn it.’ Tasha piped up in my head and I smiled, happy to hear her again.

“Amaris?” I needed to know what his plans with Luke was. I met his dark, intense gaze. “You won’t kill Luke, will you?”

“As long as I never hear his name on your lips again, he’ll be safe.” His mouth turned down and his eyes narrowed at me. His grip on my hips tightened. “You are mine!”

The way

he said it sent my heart racing with a mixture of fear and excitement. Being owned by him, possessed by him, it scared me but what frightened me more was not being wanted. What if he didn’t want me anymore, if I can’t give him what he wanted, an heir?

He picked me up off the floor, kicking our ruined clothes out of the way as he made his way to the bed. I felt his erection poking at my entrance and my veins flooded with desire for him.

“Now, my queen, where were we?” he chuckled as we fell onto the bed, and I gasped as he ground into my sensitive pu ssy. “So f ucking sweet…” Lifting my legs over his shoulders he pounded into me until I thought I was going to break in half. His name rolled off my lips like a water, uncontrollable and unstoppable.

“Yes, come for me, my Raine.” He panted and moaned as he burst into me, my inner walls milking him dry until we both collapsed in a tangle of limbs, exhausted but satisfied.

I woke to the sound of running water. When I sat up, I saw fresh clothes at the foot of the bed, neatly stacked, a dress for me and a shirt and pants for him. I went to the bathroom to find him under the shower, the water running down his sculpted body and long hair making him look like a g od rising from the depths of the sea. He turned to smile at me, holding out a hand. I went to him.

“Raine…” he kissed me deeply, cupping my face in his hands. He never once said he loved me, but I wanted to believe that he did. I tasted it on his lips.

“We need to get dressed. Finish your shower, I will wait for you. If I stay here with you, I’ll never leave.” He left me aching for him under the warm water. But he was the king with responsibilities, I dared not hold him back.
