Millie shot Yoel a confused frown.
As he spoke, tears started flowing down his cheeks. He regarded his wealthy peers with contempt. After years of working hard to graduate from medical school, he was finally hired by Bifrost Hospital, unlike the rich kids who relied on their families to get hired.
And that wasnât even the worst part, Joanna was his mentee when she first joined the hospital, but he wasnât allowed to criticize her. Not only that, sheâd give him an attitude every day.
Half a year passed, and Joanna picked up nothing. When his superiors did a routine inspection, they criticized him for not being a good mentor. But what could he do about it?
He shook his head, thinking that this life wasnât worth living at all.
âDr. Marshall,â Millie called out to him earnestly when he was about to leave.
Yoel came to a halt. Sighing, he slowly took off his doctorâs coat. Underneath the coat was an ordinary white tee.
She watched him tidying his hair and clutching his employee ID. He carried himself with the same haughtiness that made up his entire personality.
Millie turned to look at everyone in the office.
Sebastian said to Winston with a frown, âMr. Greer, I really canât defend Joanna anymore.â
By now, everyone in the hospital had learned about Joannaâs falsified credentials. The best solution was for Joanna to resign willingly.
From Millieâs indifferent expression, Winston knew she no longer cared about the past incident with
Joanna.
He vividly remembered her excitedly telling him she had been admitted to the medical school. She even offered to treat him to dinner, but she disappeared the next day.
When they finally met up again, she said to him, âWin, I lied. I didnât get into medical school.â
But that turned out to be a lie. In reality, she had been accepted into the School of Medicine but decided to give up her spot to Joanna. The thought broke his heart.
âDr. Lloyd,â he addressed Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded. âYes?â
âJust punish Joanna according to the rules. You donât have to be lenient.â Staring at Millie, he continued, Itâs best if you could issue a joint statement with the School of Medicine to explain the situation surrounding Ms. Caldwell-â

He frowned. âDonât you want the world to know youâre not a loser?â
âThereâs nothing wrong with that nickname. Iâm used to it anyway.â She smiled.

them wrong later.
After a short pause, Winston arched an eyebrow and let her have her way. However, he wouldnât back down on punishing Joanna. âDo not be soft on her.â
With that, he left.
Sighing, Millie wondered if he knew how to love. To love a woman was to side with her unconditionally. How could he refuse to settle the issue to protect Joannaâs dignity? He even reminded Sebastian not to go easy on her.
Seemed like he didnât know how to love at all.
She shook her head without a word. Just as she was about to leave, she heard a dull thud outside the opened windows.
Hazel leaned over the window to check out the situation. In the next moment, chaos broke out on the ground. Hazelâs shriek cut through the air, attracting all attention.
Lainey looked annoyed. âWhatâs the screaming for?â
Hazel turned with a pale and stiff expression. She opened her mouth and whispered, âHe⦠Heâs dead⦠He ⦠jumpedâ¦â
âWhat?â Lainey went over to Hazel, unhappy at the stammering. When she looked to the first floor and saw the bloody scene, she immediately turned and gulped.
She announced to everyone, âYoel Marshall jumped off the building.â
