Chapter 261
As Millieâs words sank in, the man visibly faltered. The onlookers around them exchanged looks of shock. They couldnât help but wonder if they had heard her correctly.
Noticing his nervous gulp, Millie repeated, âIf you lose, you cut off a thumb as a sign of respect for all life. Do you dare?â
Quincy chuckled awkwardly. It was as if he couldnât believe Millie could play for such high stakes. Wasnât this akin to gambling with his life?
He simply wanted to defeat this wealthy woman, not put his life on the line.
All at once, their surroundings fell eerily quiet.
Millie took a step forward and stared him down. Her smile widened as she gently asked, âAre you scared?â
Quincy was flustered. Just as he struggled to find his words, someone from behind heckled, âCome on, Quincy! Sheâs just a woman. Why are you afraid of her?â
âThatâs right! Youâve driven this route hundreds of times, surely you can beat her?â
âDo it! But we have one condition!â
At that moment, a redhead, Matt Tatum, pushed through from behind.
Millie sized him up. She figured he was a friend of Quincy.
âIf you loseâ¦â Matt pointed at Millie, his eyes glinting dangerously. âYouâll chop off a finger too!â
Millie inhaled sharply upon hearing that. Behind her, Rachel tightened her grip on her arm, worry etched across her face.
Somehow, Marvin managed to get his hands on a corn dog. At that moment, he was thoroughly enjoying it, seemingly unconcerned about whether Millie could participate in this absurd race.
âSince itâs a bet, both sides must be equal!â Matt insisted.
The crowd nodded in agreement.
âHeâs right!â
âThe loser will chop off a finger! Letâs get on with it! We donât want to waste our time here.â
âYouâre such a coward, Quincy! How could a woman scare you? Youâre pathetic!â someone shouted.
Perhaps the comment had struck a nerve, and Quincy bellowed, âFuck it! Letâs race! Iâve never been afraid of anyone!â
âThe betâs on! Come, sign here,â Matt announced without hesitation.
There were regulations at Python Mountain. Any accidents, such as car crashes or fatalities, were unrelated to the race.
And now, they were adding one more rule. If either party lost a finger, it would only be part of the bet.
Mille glanced at the contract and found no issues. Thus, she signed her name decisively, much like she had earlier that morning when finalizing her divorce application.

Quincy, however, stared at her name. He gritted his teeth, and finally, he penned his name.
For amateur street racers like him, they dreaded nothing more than being looked down upon. Quincy was a prominent figure in the racing community, after all. So, he couldnât afford to embarrass himself.
Millie watched as he finished signing. Then, they locked eyes, ready for a showdown.
Right away, Matt started shouting. âPlace your bets! Time to place your bets!â
âI bet on Quincy!â
âMe too!â
Before Millie and Quincy walked away to get ready, she turned back and instructed, âMarvin, take good care of Rachel.â
âDonât worry, boss! Enjoy yourself!â Marvin nodded.
On the other hand, Rachel frowned, looking solemn. Millie was doing this for her, all because Quincy had said she was just for show and accused her of having slept with countless men.
âMillie Caldwell, youâre a fool!â Rachel cursed inwardly
Suddenly, Matt approached them with two transparent boxes. âAre you guys betting or not?â
The red one was for Millie, while the blue one was for Quincy.
Quincyâs box was now filled with money, as people tossed wads of cash into it. Meanwhile, Millieâs box had only a few bills.
Marvin stared at Matt and yelled, âOf course, we are!â
After saying that, he threw all his money into Millieâs box.
Matt scoffed and remarked, âHey, kid. Just a friendly reminder. In this world, the only female racer who won a bet was Seven.â
