Chapter 10: CH 10

Tang Ke glanced at him, understanding what he meant.

If such an operation succeeded, it was bound to blow up the entire scientific field once it was published in a scientific journal, but if it failed, it would be lost in the crowd of papers that no one cares about.

Jiang Xu must have looked up several papers recently.

Facing Tang Ke’s inquisitive eyes, Jiang Xu said bluntly, “There have been three cases, one in which the adult died, one in which the child died, and one in which neither survived.”

The videos of the operation were not available online, and the relevant literature was also very scarce.

The few that could be found only mentioned unexplained hemorrhage, multiple organ failure, and hemorrhagic shock…summarizing the deaths in a few strokes.

Tang Ke hadn’t thought to that point before, and on hearing Jiang Xu’s words, he realized that the danger might be greater than he thought. After pondering for a couple of seconds, he said, “It can be regarded as a fortune among misfortunes that there was a successful case in country M.”

Jiang Xu was silent for a moment, his eyes falling on the thick pile of examination test results, “The condition of the fetus… is better than I expected.”

It was a faint sentence that was barely audible.

He and Shen Fangyu had drunk a lot of fake alcohol that ridiculous night, and in the past few months, he had drunk huge amounts of coffee, stayed up countless nights, and had a fight with Shen Fangyu at the boxing gym in the hospital lounge.

He didn’t expect the baby to be in such good condition.

“You heard the fetal heartbeat yourself, and you saw all the test indicators,” Tang Ke said, “Your child is as hard-boned as you.”

An unexpectedly tenacious child.

” I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.” Jiang Xu commented.

The light blue window screen gently swayed with the breeze. Tang Ke looked at Jiang Xu. The years had not left that many traces on this man, except for a calmer and steadier temperament, Jiang Xu’s appearance had barely changed from his college days.

During their school days, Jiang Xu never lacked suitors, given how good-looking he was. Jiang Xiu tugged at his hair in annoyance, “He doesn’t know.”

“Then you should tell him,” Tang Ke said, “Your situation is different from a normal pregnancy; the risk factor is so high; if something happens, you two should discuss it and make up your minds, so you can quickly come up with a plan.”

Jiang Xu bit his lower lip and said, “I can’t open my mouth.”

“It’s okay.” Tang Ke was worried that Jiang Xu’s partner would not be able to accept a man’s pregnancy. “You are a doctor, so just explain it to him. In the end, it’s just a rare disease. There are all kinds of wonders in the world. If he can’t accept it, let him come to me, and I will explain it to him.”

At the end, he remembered something and made a dirty joke: “The baby’s father must be in good health; the average man’s sperm doesn’t have the vitality to swim through that soft duct, not to mention the amount of time it takes.”

He gossiped, “Why don’t you bring him next time and let him donate some sperm to benefit our province’s sperm bank, for a small subsidy of a thousand yuan of course?”

Jiang Xu was quiet for a moment, giving Tang Ke a meaningful look.

And Tang Ke once cursed that Shen Fangyu must be one of those ten percent because the other party grabbed a basketball in front of a girl he liked, which got him a lot of glares from the girls.

“What’s that look on your face?” Tang Ke asked.

Jiang Xu coughed lightly, then said to Tang Ke, “You know the person.”

“Who? Who?!” Tang Ke said, “I don’t think he’s a classmate from our university.” He immediately went through the classmates they were good friends within his mind.

Jiang Xu looked into Tang Ke’s expectant, gossipy eyes and worried that he would go into cardiac arrest from the shock.

However, his sexual history was as clean as a blank sheet of paper, so much so that it was impossible to find a suspect at this point.

Jiang Xu had a casual opinion of sex; he did not seek it out nor resist it, and he had never thought about the kind of person he would have sex with.

Because he was busy with his studies and work, and had to compete with Shen Fangyu, Jiang Xu had never had an easy day since his freshman year of university. Every day was more tiring than his senior year, so he never found time to find a partner, and he never slept with anyone.

If he had known that his first time would be with Shen Fangyu and that he was at the bottom, he would have found a girl he liked, gotten married, and started a family. He would have stayed far away from this god of plague, preferably never seeing him in his life.

“Quickly, tell me!” Tang Ke said, “Don’t leave me hanging in suspense.”

“You really want to know?” Jiang Xu confirmed it one last time.

He faces Tang Ke, who was nodding frantically, and finally said mercilessly, “Shen Fangyu.”

With a thump, the graceful Dr. Tang fell to the ground.
