So things were good between me and Xavier, I just can't see him as much which is gonna be annoying but then again I understand. Who I am worried about currently though is West, he lied to me.
So of course I texted him about it
Me: u lied to me
West: about?
Me: Archie. he was in skl
West: oh right, yeah he was
Me: where did u actually go ???
West: home
I feel so guilty
Me: I'm so sorry
West: it's fine
I sigh because I don't know what else to do or say
Me: Thursday, I promise. Bring Archie and Cj if u like
Me: and don't say no
West: sure
"What was Xavier doing here?", Neveah asks as she lies against one of my pillows
I pause, "How'd you know Xavier was here"
"Cause that hoodie is too big on you"
"And we saw the cameras", Trinity chimes in
I feel myself panic a little, "Oh shit. Did dad see?"
"Nah just us"
"It felt like we were watching a whole movie, what was the white boy doing here too? And I thought you and Xavier weren't together?-
"It's complicated but we're back together now. Dad doesn't want that though so don't tell him, and as for West it's a long story. There's nothing going on between us"
"You said he was going through some shit-
"Don't swear. And yes, he is"
"Hmmm, you had sex with Xavier didn't you", Neveah says knowingly
"I did"
Speaking of Xavier, hes just messaged me
Zayâ¤ï¸: coming over
I frown before getting ready to type a response, but then my bedroom door opens and mama pops her head through the door. "The Campbells are gonna be here in a minute so put some joggers on or some leggings"
Ugh I was just getting comfy in my shorts
"Huh?", We all reply confused
"Oh right I forgot to tell you they're coming over for dinner"
"No you didn't", Neveah says knowingly
She knew that if I knew aunt Latoya was coming I'd find a way out of staying. "You're right I didn't. Come set the table though"
"Do we really have to come downstairs?", I ask uninterested
"Yes, you do. And Xavier will also be here so just a heads up my love"
"Right"
She gestures for us to get up, "Come on"
We went downstairs, the twins set up the table whilst I was sorting out the glasses and the drinks. I just don't think it's that necessary for us to have this dinner, I'm not even sure what my mom is hoping to get out of it.
"Pass me the water please"
I slide it over to my dad
"You alright?" He then asks me
"Yup"
"Still mad at me?"
"Yup"
"If it makes you feel better, I haven't actually stepped in yet. I'm gonna let Darnel do it"
I pause, "You told uncle D"
"Yes"

"Why would you do that?"
"Because he'd wanna know what's going on with his children, Keilyn I don't understand what's wrong I thought Xavier wanted this to be dealt with"
"Never mind", I take the glasses to the dining room
We're having to use the second dining room because it's bigger and there's a lot of us, I even went and texted Indiah to see if she was also coming. She said yes.
Pretty soon we heard a knock on the front door
"Get the door please"
"But-
Mom quickly shuts me down "Amariah, just open it"
I roll my eyes before doing what I'm told, Aidan scurries after me since that's what he always does when he hears someone at the door. I tuck a hair behind my ear as I open it, "Hey guys"
I hug uncle Darnel and he kisses my head, "You ok?"
"Mhm"
"My turn", Aidan giggles
"You're such an attention seeker" He says whilst picking him up
I gasp as I look past them with surprise, "Zi"
Zion grins, "Hey"
"Fricking hell you grew" I reply as we high five
Malik follows him in "Don't gass him"
"I didn't know you were coming"
"Surprise. How you been?"
I shrug in response, "Not bad"
And then there was aunt Latoya
"Hi sweetie"
"Hi..."
She sighs as she holds my chin, "I'm sorry about that night. I was just really stressed and I shouldn't have taken it out on you"
"It's ok"

Indiah and Xavier were the last to walk up the porch steps, my best friend looked tired and irritated whereas Zay looked like he was tryna calm her down or maybe advise her.
"Come, let's get a drink" I gesture
She comes over to me and we link arms
"Are you high?"
"Yes." Indiah answers
Xavier gives my hips a gentle squeeze as he passes and goes to join his brothers, I try not smile and instead walk with Indiah to the kitchen.
"Wait let me say hi to your mom first"
"Hold on let me get you some water, you need it"
She doesn't disoblige and instead waits for me to get her a bottle from the fridge, "What's up. You look pissed"
"Who else"
"Your mom" I say knowingly
"Yes"
I sigh, "Now what"
"What's new? She's just pissing me off. And now that Zion's home for the week we're not hearing the end of it, I hope she knows that I just don't care"
I give her a cuddle
"Oof, you look pissed" Neveah comments
"I feel it too", She replies as they do their handshake
"I missed you" My sister smiles as we head into the dining room
"You too girl"
Once all the hi's were out the way we all sat at the table, I was sat next to Indiah and Trinity. I like that Xavier was directly opposite me, I didn't think it'd be this hard to pretend to hate him. He just looks so handsome at the moment with his hair out and his pierced ear, don't get me started on the tracksuit either.
But now, back to the dinner
"Zion have you got a girlfriend we don't know about?" My mom asks with her chin rested on her hands
He laughs, "No"
"Mmm, so who's that girl I saw with you at that restaurant one time"
"Which one, Marissa?"
"Nah not her, the other one. The brunette"
"Oh you mean Rachel"
he's into white girls
"Yeah, I think it was her"
"She's just a friend"
"That's what they all say"
"Trust me if I had a girl you'd have heard about it by now"
"I know, I'm waiting on that call"
Mom then turns to Indiah, "Not hungry?"
She wasn't really touching her food or conversing with anyone, I think my mother knows that she's high.
"Not really"
"You sure, you feeling ok?"
She smiles reassuringly
"Eat your food Indiah", Latoya says with that look
I almost snorted from my dad's reaction, key word is almost. Indiah screws her face with annoyance, "Who was even tal-
"I wish you would"
"Toya it's ok", Mom assures her
"Don't mind her"
"The mac n cheese is ready, come let's go get it out the oven" She gestures
Indiah slides out of her seat and they both head to the kitchen, I always loved how understanding my mother is with everyone. It's just in her nature.
Meanwhile Latoya's rolling her eyes for God knows why, I had actually made eye contact with my dad at that point and we both had the look that said we wanted to laugh. But we didn't.
Instead I just joined in on Malik and Zion's conversation, "Ree be honest. Whose hair is longer"
I look between the two of them, "Malik's"
"Told you"
"Nah you're just saying that"
"You don't take care of your hair like me, it's short and your corners are pushing back" Malik points out
My sisters laugh
"Nah don't start that foolishness cause you know it's not"
They continue debating and at some point Xavier had to settle it, Malik in fact has the longer hair which is what he stated.
Halfway through dinner Indiah and my mom came back, Dee looked like she was in a better mood.
I was feeling bored and just felt like being a tease which is why I'm currently rubbing my foot against Xavier, honestly I didn't think he'd react but now hes gone still. For a second he doesn't do anything but as I continue to stroke it up and down against him he looks away from his brothers and at me (as a quick glance). Obviously I pretend nothings happening and just keep replying to Zion and Malik normally.
I was doing it for awhile, what took me by surprise was when he trapped my foot between his ankles. We'll always find a way to touch each other no matter what.
"What about you two?"
"Huh?", Xavier and I both reply to his mom
"How are you guys, I hope hes been treating you well"
"Uhhh-
"We're fine", He replies
I'm confused. Are we telling them we're together or not?
"Fine?", My dad says confused
"Hold on hold on, when was Xavier and Amariah a thing" Zion frowns
"Catch up, this has been ongoing" Indiah replies
"No but wait they broke up" Mom chimes in
"What?", Latoya says confused
"No no no they're back" Neveah corrects
We both roll our eyes and Trinity hits her twin on the shoulder. "Wait what?" Both my parents question
"We're fine everyone, next topic please" I announce
"No but what does fine mean?" Mom asks me
"Do we gotta do this now?"
"Well you didn't tell me anything", She defends
"We're good, we're together. It's fine"
"But why did you two break up?", Latoya questions
"Not important", Xavier replies
"Zay it is to me"
"Oh please, the other day you were willing to send me to Trinidad without a second thought"
Zion frowns, "She what?"
"Alright alright we can talk about this later, can you guys go to the front room for a sec", His dad interrupts
We all start to get up
"You can take your food", Mom adds
So we all start to leave the table, minus Aidan who's still being fed by my dad.
"Not you three", Darnel says at the last second
Me, Malik and Xavier sit back down whilst Latoya sits there confused.
"Why not us?", Malik questions
"You I'm not surprised by, but you?"
"What are you talking about?", Zay replies
He puts a file on the table (the exact same one that I stole from the clerks office) and Xavier just looks at it with a stoic expression.
I widen my eyes a little, "Where did you find that"
"What a wonderful question Amariah. See I found it in Malik's room-
"Why are you going through my shit", He says annoyed
"Hold on what is that" Latoya asks
"Your sons are still selling drugs"
Obviously this isn't news to my parents so they didn't have a reaction, however I forgot to tell Xavier that my dad gave his dad the tip which is probably what made him go through Malik's room.
They all look through the file, mostly with a bit of shock. Aunt Toya looked like she was gonna have a heart attack. "You were supposed to keep your brother out of it"
"It's not that simple", Malik replies
"If this is all on file, why haven't they been arrested?", My mom asks
"That's a stolen file", Dad says knowingly
The boys stay silent and so do I for a moment, but the way my mother was looking at me? Pfft, she definitely knew. And I can't take pressure.
"I stole it", I blurt out
"Jesus christ"
"For fuck sake Mari"
"Are you serious?"
"Oh lord"
They all loudly say in unison
I look at my boyfriend apologetically because I knew he wouldn't have said anything, he gives me a look that says don't worry about it.
"Have you lost your damn mind?", Mom scoffs
"That's a crime" Dad says annoyed
Malik starts to explain,'"She did it for us and I know you're not gonna wanna hear that-
"You're right I don't wanna hear that", She snaps
"How could you let her take this from the clerks office?", Uncle Darnel questions his sons
"They didn't know, I just took it and then gave it to them and they were mad at me-
"You think?"
I think this is the most disappointed I've ever seen my dad.
"It's not on the actual system-
"Right and you know this how?"
"I just know"
"We're going to the station, and you're gonna take this back"
"I can't"
Mom scoffs, "Yes you most certainly can-
"No like I can't, there's no footage of me stealing it in the first place. It's gone-
"That's impossible"
"Oh my God my daughters a criminal", She stresses whilst holding her face in her hands
"How'd you manage that then", Darnel asks me suspiciously
"Stop asking questions, it keeps getting worse-
"It's too late for that"
"Speak", My dad orders
"I-... someone hacked it for me"
"The only reason that file is there is because the clerk is one of Treyvon's guys. I told you he had people on the inside" My boyfriend explains to them
"What the fuck is wrong with you guys? What, do you think this is some game? You ain't criminal investigators and the shit you're telling us is serious" Darnel says annoyed
"T she could get in serious trouble, what do we do. You can't lie for her cause that could cost you your job" Mom says
"But mom nobody else knows about the files in the first-
"Stop talking"
"Go to the living room, we'll deal with you guys later" Uncle Darnel dismisses
We leave the table before joining the others in the front room, Neveah's lazed against Zion on the couch whereas Trinity and Indiah are sat on the other couch watching tv.
My best friend looks over as we sit down
"What was that about"
"Um, they know everything" I eventually reply
"Everything?"
"Yeah, everything"
Xavier rests my legs on his after sitting down and Zion sighs, "You guys are in some deep shit"
"So now what?", Neveah asks
"I don't know", I answer honestly
We could hear our parents debating in the dining room, they were being quite loud to be honest. Mean while we were all just waiting, we played a couple rounds of uno and then decided on a movie. Indiah actually fell asleep which was unsurprising to me, especially because the room was dark.
Weirdly, during the film I could see Malik and Xavier exchanging looks. I didn't wanna ask questions but it was going on for quite awhile, Zion caught on too.
I stroke his neck, "You ok?"
"I gotta go" Zay whispers
I frown, "Where?"
"Remember how I told you we were gonna try cut a deal"
I nod
"Yeah well we're gonna go now"
I don't know about this
"But our parents..."
"Just gonna have to sneak out"
Usually Xavier's calm but somethings not right, I can sense it, and he doesn't look ok
I sit up a little, "Are you sure about this?"
"Yeah. I'll call you after"
I look between him and Malik, "Alright"
Xavier kisses me softly, "I love you"
"Don't make it sound like you're not coming back"
He smiles a little before getting up and going over to Zion, probably to tell him that they're going. I sigh before facing the tv once more, hopefully after tonight this is all gonna be over.
"You ok?", Neveah asks me
"What? Oh....yeah"
She lies against me and I continue to stay deep in thought, I don't know what Treyvon truly is like but at least Xavier will have Malik with him. And obviously they must have a good plan so this definitely will work, Malik is persuasive.
I know all of this.....so why do I still feel off
Ten minutes had passed, that soon turned into twenty which then eventually became thirty minutes. By then I'd pushed back all my doubts and started feeling a little better, Zi was remaining calm so I also was remaining calm. Our parents haven't even noticed that the boys are gone so that's another good sign.
"Wait do a close up", Neveah says amused
Trinity puts her phone closer to a sleeping Indiah before taking another few pictures and I laugh a little before checking my phone which is now apparently ringing.
The number was saved as backup which is weird because I don't ever remember giving one of my contacts that name.
"Hello?"
"Amariah?"
I frown, "Uhhh who's this"
"It's Jamila"
