The MatchMaker (YEONGYU FF)Words: 24065

"You passed out all of a sudden, We need to get back to camp." Soona spoke as Yeonjun sits up. He grabs his head in pain; the temples of his head were aching.

"Did I hit the ground hard?" He says, looking around.

"Yes, Here let me help you." Soona extended her hand down; he grabs her hand and pulls himself up.

"Here, that tree has a marker; they lead back to camp." He pointed toward the tree with the arrow painted white.

"Stay close, let's get back." Yeonjun held to Soona's arm and followed along.

"Ah." Yeonjun knelt down suddenly wincing in pain.

"Yeonjun?" Soona looks worriedly at the Boy on the ground.

"Wait a second- My head hurts." He tries to get ahold of himself.

"Let's rest for a minute." Soona plops herself down to the ground as well, sitting across from him.

"Are you cold?" Soona asks the Boy, "I'm fine." He reassured her.

"I wish I brought my backpack; I had water and pain medicine.." She whispers to herself.

"How far do you think we are from Camp?"

"Maybe a mile?" Soona estimates; she slides her watch open to locate Yena.

The watch showed Yena back at the original spot for Camp, they already arrived back. They likely were beginning to worry.

"We aren't that far."

"I'll try to make it." He stands up, Soona rushes to his side, helping him along.

"Is your leg hurt too?" She looks down at him limping slightly.

"It's just tense."

"We're almost there." She stares at her watch, the glowing dot filling their eyes.

"That's impressive GPS." He looks down at the watch in awe.

"Yeah! It works anywhere."

As they walked, a slight breeze was felt; the cold air flowed through their clothes and hair.

"I think it's going to rain." Yeonjun looked up at the dark sky, the moonlight being the only light they had upon them.

"Really? how do you know?"

"The air seems cold and I can smell it." He looked around.

"You have a special sense then." She suddenly feels a wet drop fall into her nose.

"Ah it's raining, we should hurry." They pick up their speed.

The rain began drizzling down lightly first, their faces becoming damp.

"We're so unlucky." He laughed.

"I enjoy the rain; I think it's relaxing." Soona adds.

"Really? You don't mind the rain on you?"

"Not really, My outfit isn't expensive anyway." She shrugged.

"I see; what about your watch?"

"Ah, it's waterproof!" She laughed holding it up to his eyes.

"Wow, that must be expensive."

"It was a gift." She winks.

Back at the camp

"Where's Soona and Yeonjun?" The teacher looked around, holding her clipboard of names.

"They haven't returned yet." Taehyun spoke beside Kai.

"Really? Did anyone see them?"

"We did but we lost them.." Yena speaks up.

"We should look for them, it's dangerous to be alone here and it's raining."

"I'll go look!" Yena volunteered, "Me too" Beomgyu joined in.

"I'm worried for them; what If they become sick?" Beomgyu walked beside Yena toward the trail exit path.

"I'm sure they're okay. They're both strong." She reassured the worried bear.

"Soona! Yeonjun!" Soona called out. The two walked side by side and occasionally called the names of the two.

"Soona!- GUYS, WHERE DID YOU GO?!" Soona saw the two emerge from the woods.

"We got lost sorry, Yeonjun passed out earlier-

"Passed out? are you okay?" Beomgyu asks, worriedly.

"I'm fine. Sorry for worrying you." He apologized.

"Let's get you both back; they're all looking for you." Soona grabs their arms.

"Ah, there you two are! Be careful next time! We were all worried." The teacher was relieved seeing the two.

She marks through their names with her pen and closes it with the cap.

"Now, Let's all go eat our dinner; late dinner." She motions for everyone to follow her.

"I've set up tables for you all, and the booths have food all prepared. Don't worry we added tarps above the tables for the rain."

The tables were set up, with each having six chairs; there were three booths with food upon them.

"Let's sit at this table." Soona chose the table closest to the foods.

"Of course you want this one." Beomgyu scoffed.

"You all go ahead I'll go to the bathroom." Soona dismissed herself as the three helped themselves to food.

Soona walked along the low lit path toward the bathrooms.

"You really should stop going off alone." Taehyun says behind her; she froze in her steps.

She slowly turned to face him in a 180 turn, "What do you want?!" She yelled.

"Angry already? You're feisty. I was right about you." He laughed.

Soona's lips turn into a scowl, she was disgusted by him entirely.

The sound of the Men's bathroom door caused both of them to look over, seeing Soobin step outside.

"Oh, you two are here?" He looks between the two awkward people.

"I was just making sure Soona made it to the bathroom safely." Taehyun lies through his teeth.

"Okay then, let's go eat." Soobin grabbed Taehyun and pulled him back to the camp.

Soona rushes inside the toilets, afraid he'll be back. She quickly uses the bathroom and then walks over toward the sink to wash her hands.

The cold water runs over her fingers, the soaps washing down the drain. She watches as the bubbles were sucked down; she felt irritated by what just occurred.

She despises Taehyun, she didn't know the exact reason, but she knew it was a valid one.

She shuts the faucet off and dried her hands with the paper towel.

'Time to eat finally; hopefully in peace,' she thinks to herself as she exited the bathroom.

"Soona, we grabbed food for you." Beomgyu says seeing Soona return.

"Oh, thanks." Soona sits between Beomgyu and Yena.

"Try the chicken, it's a little spicy, but the flavor is so good!" Yena suggested.

As Soona was eating, she felt a pair of eyes glaring at her; she looked up across the area to the Taehyun glaring from the opposite table.

She elbowed Yena, causing Yena to jump a little, startled; she looked at Soona then saw what was going on.

"Just ignore him." Yena whispered.

Soona takes the chicken and aggressively bites into it while looking at Taehyun. He laughs suddenly, causing Soobin to look toward Soona.

"What?" Soobin asks.

"Nothing." Taehyun says, taking a sip of his water.

"Are you okay?" Beomgyu asks, looking at Soona's face. Her mouth was greasy from biting into the fried chicken intensely.

"I'm fine." She takes the napkin and wipes her face off.

"Is it that good?" Yeonjun says holding a laugh back; she glared at him without saying words. His eyes widened in suspicion, and she returned to eating.

"Drink some coke." Yena pushed the can toward her.

Soona chugged the can of coke down, the liquid slightly burning her throat. She looks at Taehyun with the can in her hands and crushes it.

"Woah! Soona." Yeonjun looks bewildered toward her.

Taehyun smirked and covered his mouth holding the laughter back.

Her grip around the can tighten while never taking her gaze off of him, the metal digging into

Her palm so hard that she began to bleed.

The blood slowly trickled down and landed onto Beomgyu's bare knee.

He looks down seeing the red liquid that just touched him; he felt a weird tingling sensation and quickly looked toward Soona.

"Soona!" Yena takes the can from her

hands.

"You're bleeding!" Yeonjun quickly takes a napkin and holds it against her palm.

"I'll excuse myself." Soona stood up walking away from the group.

"What was that about?" Yeonjun asks Yena.

"It's Taehyun." She muttered, Beomgyu looked down at his knee again and grabbed the napkin.

He wipes the blood off and throws it in the trash.

Taehyun went to stand up but Yena stands up simultaneously; they both stared at each other before he slowly sits back down.

"Where did she go?" Beomgyu looked around for Soona.

"Maybe she went to clean her hand." Yena suggested, never taking her eyes away.

"I'll go check the bathroom." Yeonjun makes his way over.

"I'll go check the tent." Beomgyu stood as well.

Yeonjun walks over toward the low-lit area, "Soona?" He called out, looking around.

He slowly opened the bathroom door and saw blood droplets on the ground. The trail leads toward the bathroom door but stopped.

"Soona, are you in there?" He knocks at the door but no response. He bends down, peeking under the door to see if there are any feet, but there's none. She wasn't there. He sighed and decided to return to the group.

Beomgyu walked toward the tent of Soona and Yena. He stops in front of the tent to see the light on inside. "Soona, are you in there?" He asked while bending down.

"Yeah." She answered blankly.

"Can I come in?" He asked politely.

"I guess." She says, He grabs the zipper and pulls it across opening the tent door.

He bent down more and crawled inside the medium-sized tent.

"Is your hand okay?" He sits across from her; she looks down at hand.

"It stopped bleeding; I was just about to bandage it up." She grabbed the bandages from her bag.

"Let me help." He takes the bandages from her hand and untraveled them.

She extends her head toward him with her palm turned upwards. He moved his hand toward her palm, his eyes looking at the extended cut, and wrapped the bandages across her palm.

"It's a deep cut; you need to put ointment daily and rewrap it." He advises her.

"I will, don't worry i'm fine now." She fake smiles toward him.

"What happened?"

"I was just angry and annoyed. Sorry for worrying you all." She sighed to herself.

"It's fine. What's annoying you?"

"It's Taehyun."

"I see. Don't worry. I'll keep an extra eye!" He puts his hand across his heart.

"I can handle him. I don't know what's his problem, though." She shakes her head.

"Oh, what's that?" Soona noticed a red stain on his knee.

"Oh, it's from when you cut your hand earlier, I tried to clean it, but I guess it stained some."

"I'll clean it off; I'm sorry about that.." She takes a wipe from her bag and gently scrubbed the light red stain off his skin.

"Are you done eating?"

"Oh yeah, I'm not that hungry.." She looks off to the left, she was hungry but she didn't want to face Taehyun.

Her stomach suddenly tells the truth by making a growling noise, Beomgyu laughs.

"You're still hungry. I can bring your food here if you want." He goes to stand up. Soona quickly grabbed his wrist pulling him back down.

"No, no, that's fine." She didn't want to risk being alone and Taehyun coming.

"Ah, you're afraid of Taehyun coming right? I'll wait here, and you can grab your food." He suggested.

'How did he know?' She thinks to herself.

"I'll be back then!" She stands up and exited the tent.

"Soona you're back! where's Beomgyu?" Yeonjun asks not seeing him.

"He's at the tent! I came to bring my food back..." She grabbed the plate.

"I see, I'll finish and come to the tent shortly." She says, stuffing the chicken inside her mouth.

"I'll be there soon too." Yeonjun added.

"I'll get going back then." Soona dismissed herself; she felt eyes on her but didn't bother to look.

"You made it back, I'm glad." Beomgyu says.

"Did you think I'd be gone forever?" Soona sits down with the plate in her lap.

"Maybe."

"So, are you excited for tomorrow?" Soona asks.

"Tomorrow? Ah yeah. I'm excited to do the two legged race!"

Tomorrow was a sports day; one event was the two-legged race between two people.

"I never tried it.." Soona trailed off, in her head she was thinking how it would work.

"It takes good teamwork and skills to be first. The first time I tried, I tripped many times."

"I'm worried then.." Soona says, thinking about face planting the ground.

"Just pick someone you know well. Yena of course." He says.

"She's not good at those things.." Soona laughed.

"I see, but if you don't choose her, Taehyun might sweep in.."

"No!" Soona yelled.

Beomgyu made the tent erupt with laughter from him and both Soona.

"I can't be with that devil!" She says, shaking her head.

"Yena is the better option then, right?"

"I'm the what?!" Yena says outside the tent; she zips it open.

"For the two legged race tomorrow!" Soona says.

"Aha, right right! Oh by the way everyone's preparing to sleep so sorry Beomgyu this is a two person tent." Yena kicks him out.

"Do you need another blanket?" Yeonjun asks Beomgyu who's already lying down.

"I'm fine but thank you." He says with closed eyes. His back was turned facing Yeonjun; Yeonjun lays down and turns the small light off.

"We're doing the race together tomorrow, right?" Yeonjun asks in the dark.

"That's right."

"I hope we win then." He says smiling to himself.

"I'm sure we'll win against Soona." Beomgyu chuckled; he was luckily Soona couldn't hear him due to how low his voice was.

The next tent over, Soona was knocked out cold asleep while Yena was also with her leg draped across her waist.

Beomgyu kicked the covers off him in the middle of the night; he felt hot all of a sudden.

He crawled near the opening and zipped it open to let the night breeze inside.

He felt the cool breeze brush his face, the hotness disappearing in minutes.

Feeling better, he zips the tent back up and makes his way back to his spot.

He lays back down and looks over at Yeonjun beside him.

He was sleeping peacefully, Beomgyu states at him for a few seconds admiring his face.

'What Am I doing?' He thinks to himself as he turns the other way.

He closes his eyes, trying to sleep, but he suddenly felt awake; he tosses back over again. His eyes fell upon Yeonjun's sleeping face once again.

'Why can't I stop looking?' He thinks to himself.

'His lips look so soft' He suddenly felt his cheeks heat up from what he just thought. He quickly tosses himself back over; his back turned toward Yeonjun.

'What is going on?' He panicked inside his mind.

Yeonjun tosses in his sleep and rolls over toward Beomgyu. He throws his arms across him and hugged him from behind.

Beomgyu's eyes widened in fear, and he felt his body tense up.

'What's going on? What's going on? What's going on?!' His mind panicked once again.

"So soft~" Yeonjun talked in his sleep while pinching Beomgyu's cheek.

Beomgyu slapped his hand away and covered his cheek.

"I'm cold!~" Yeonjun says hugging him.

Beomgyu tried to wiggle out of his grasp but to no avail. He was caught and unable to free himself of the horrible grip.

"How Can I sleep?" He says out loud.

Soona wakes up suddenly; it was barely 4:30 in the morning. Her bladder was about to explode; she shouldn't have had something to drink before bed.

She rushed toward the tent door and unzipped it; she crawled out in a hurry and ran toward the bathroom.

When she exits finally slowly was making her way back when she hears a branch crack behind her.

"Taehyun, you're not funny." She turned around to see the red-haired Boy with crossed arms.

"I wasn't being funny." He walks closer.

"Don't you ever sleep?"

"We're angels."

"That doesn't mean we can't sleep.." She sighed.

"Also, don't say that so openly; we can't tell anyone!" Soona scolded him.

"No ones around." He reminded her.

"Great." She says, rubbing her eyes in frustration. She didn't want to be alone with this freak.

"Take it." He holds out a glowing orb toward her.

"What's this?" She eyes it suspiciously.

"I forgot you're a new angel. This is a power orb. If you take it you'll gain more experience of cultivating. It's a gift from my years of course." He says smirking.

"I'm not taking that from you; I don't know what's inside." She shoved his hand away.

"You don't even accept this huge gift of 30 years of cultivation?" He scoffed.

"Shove it!" She walks away taking big steps.

"Hey!" He walks after her following behind.

"No!" She turns to speak to him.

"If you don't want to accept it then, i'll make you!" He quickly rushes over toward her, she take a step back.

"You're fast.... but not fast enough!" He tried again to grab her hand this time.

"No!" She glides away again backwards from him, her feet sliding against the dirt.

"I'm tired just take it!" He holds it out in his hand.

"Never." She crosses her arms and turns away.

"Fine. Whenever you want it then ask me. Don't say I'm a devil again." He crosses his arms and walks past her, the air blowing in her hair from him.

"What a jerk." She muttered.

Soona looks down at her hand, the cut was burning. She needed to heal it, but with so many others near, it's dangerous to try.

She decided to find a spot in the woods to heal herself.

She just needed a spot with a water source, she looks on her watch searching the 3D version of the map.

'This one isn't too far but it's secluded, so no one should see. Besides, it's late.' She thinks to herself.

She pinpointed the location and followed the points on her map.

As she walks through the woods, she enjoyed the sound of the crickets resonating throughout.

Everything was alive at this time of the day, even in the dark.

She finally reached the area, walked a little deeper, and found the water. It was a small area but secluded with a water hole just big enough.

There was a special thing angels could do; water was an excellent source to set up healing spots.

If they needed to heal or refuel their powers, they would set up areas for a short time; this is important when doing missions. She knew she had to be extra cautious, so she decided to set up a barrier so no one could enter past a certain point.

This would keep anyone and hopefully when Taehyun out.

She closed her eyes, confused to herself; she opens her hands, and the barrier sets into place.

She walked over toward the water and focused on herself once again, calling upon the realm. She breathes out slowly and moves her hands over the water.

The Water began glowing a faint green color, and she looked around. It was her first time successfully summoning such an area. She was proud of herself, which means her power was more substantial than before.

'Alright no time to waste.' She holds her hand inside the water to feel the powers returning but too slowly.

'I need to submerge myself.' She thinks to herself but worries if anyone comes up. How would she explain glowing water?

'Should I wait for another time?' She hesitates.

She slowly puts her feet inside the water, the coolness surrounding her toes.

She looks back toward her barrier; she wanted to make sure no one was around.

'It'll only be for a few minutes.' She sighs.

She slowly puts her calves in the water now, she was never taking her eyes away from the barrier as she slowly submerged herself.

As she was, she slipping slightly, causing her to go completely under the water, it was only about 7 feet deep, and her 5'7 stature wasn't any concern, but she was not good at holding her nose. She felt a familiar burning in her nose as the water enters, but she holds her breath.

She opens her eyes under the water to see the glowing particles all around; it was like being in space; she looks at her fingers as she swooshes the particles around.

She opens her palm to see her hand healing slowly; the cut was reforming itself.

She suddenly forgot she needed air and rushes toward the surface of the water, gasping for the atmosphere.

She looks back at her barrier to see a figure standing there; her eyes were blurry from the water inside.

She quickly wipes them trying to regain her clear vision.

How could anyone get it? my barriers not broken..' She was confused as to how.

The obstacle would be broken if Taehyun got inside.

'Was it Soona?' No, it can't be, she wouldn't just be standing there, and besides, she's a deep sleeper.

She rubs her eyes again, the water finally clearing somewhat. She looks back toward the barrier to see no one there. Was she just imagining things?

Suddenly her barrier breaks, the sound making her wince. She grits her teeth in anger seeing Taehyun walking towards her.

"That's a weak barrier; I can tell you're low." He laughed.

"Why can't you leave me alone?" She crosses her arms.

"You didn't invite me to your party here?" He sticks a lip out.

"Make your own." She scoffed rolling her eyes.

"Let me show you a barrier." He arms his hands toward where the old barrier was, the glowing light shooting toward the direction.

The new barrier was placed; it looked even more potent than Soona's.

"Hey! Don't trap me here!" She yells.

"Relax, I don't know those spells yet." He laughed.

"Besides, Someone else already crashed your party; I came to investigate." He looks around

"That's impossible, no one can get inside here." She laughed.

"Angels can."

"You and I are the only ones."

"You've been blind this whole time." He snickered.

"Why?" She asks eyeing him.

"Have fun getting out, both of you." He walked toward the barrier.

"Wait, you said it's not an entrapment!" She yelled splashing in the water.

"For you, it's not." He walks outside of the barrier disappearing.

"For what? Who else is here?" She looked around.

Soona slowly pulls herself out of the water and sighed. ' Why does he have to ruin everything huh?' She thinks to herself.

Suddenly a voice spoke beside her, "Soona?" The familiar voice made her freeze.

She turned around, but as she did, she tripped, falling into the person. She grabs the persons sleeve making both fall into the water.

They sink under the water, Soona opened her eyes and their eyes are locked with another.

Her eyes widened, seeing who was in front of her, his eyes widening as well.

The time seems to stop as they just stared under the water, the particles floating around them in silence.

They both surfaced for air gasping for the air to return to their lungs.

"You, how did you get here?" Soona asks.

"I jus-t c-came through..." He says struggling to form his words.

"No, this can't be. Why why?! Why are you here how?!" Soona panicking grabbing her head.

"Are you okay?" He spoke.

"No! this should be happening!" She yells out of frustration.

"What is this?" He says looking at hr water.

"How did you get in here? did Taehyun let you?!" She asks searching for the answers.

"No, I came before he did; I just walked in here.." He says.

"How HOW??" She yelled.

"Soona, You're scaring me.." He says backing away.

"Because THIS shouldn't be happening, you're like a FREAK of nature! Like someone who doesn't belong!" She says without thinking.

"Oh.." He says, looking down.

"No that's not what I-."

"It's fine." He says turning away.

"That's not- I'm just confused!" She says but he doesn't turn around.

"Don't go!" She waded through the water to him and pulls his arm.

He falls back into the water under her; she grabs his arm to pull him back up when he pulls her down with him.

She looks at him under the water; they lock eyes; suddenly, a glowing light started to emit from his wrist of his.

He holds his wrist out in front of himself and looks down at it.

Soona's eyes trailed down toward his wrist to see the initials glowing; what did this mean? Was it going away?

Soona quickly grabbed his wrist and pulled him back up out of the water.

"You- really shouldn't be here. This shouldn't.." She scans around as if there's answers somewhere.

"What is this?" He says motioning toward the water and his wrist.

"I can't tell you." She says getting out of the water completely, she walks onto the ground.

"You have to." He says following her.

"I cannot! it's forbidden!" She yelled facing him.

"I'm already here just tell me." Beomgyu says, following her again as she walked off.

"I don't understand it myself what's happening!" She says turning again.

"Well, well," Taehyun says, appearing again; he walks through his barrier.

"You! stop this!" Soona says walking toward him.

"Woah' too hostile come on we're all the same here." He says.

"Same? he's not!" She says, pointing to Beomgyu.

"He got through your barrier Soona."

"My what?"

"Your barrier, he walked right through it!" Taehyun says, pointing at him.

"That's impossible! you did something!" She accused him.

"No I didn't; I followed him after he came through." He says.

"How is that possible?" Soona says, looking between the two.

"He's one of us." He says smirking.

"No, no, that's not possible. You know the rules you know they wouldn't assign me to another angel!" Soona says walking closer.

"Every fate has its way." Taehyun says.

"Fate is what I'm doing!" Soona says.

"Angels?" Beomgyu says bewildered.

"I- No just - You should leave!" Soona says, pushing him.

"He shouldn't, he needs to hear this." He stands in front of us.

"Hear what?" Beomgyu says.

"You're not fully human. Neither are we." Taehyun says.
