âSpill it why are you tailing me?â Ellinor asked bluntly, having already had her suspicions. Belinda looked a bit sheepish, âI just wanted to see where youâd go and what youâd do.â
Ellinor casually folded her arms. âWhy the curiosity about what Iâm up to? Care to be a bit more specific?â
Belinda knew her stalking was out of line and felt pretty rotten about it.
But then she remembered she had a reason, so she puffed up her chest and asked, âEllinor! I saw you coming out of the office of Crescent Societyâs president. Whatâs your deal with them?â
Ellinor didnât even bat an eyelash as she simply replied, âTheyâre old friends of mine from childhood. Is there a problem?â
Belinda was taken aback, her face a picture of surprise, âWhat? Ellinor, youâre childhood friends with the president of Crescent Society? But didnât you grow up in the boondocks?â
Ellinor looked at her, âSo country bumpkins canât make it big? Is it so weird that a childhood friend of mine made it from rags to riches as a corporate bigwig?â
Belinda quickly waved her hands, âNo, no! Thatâs not what I meant; I thought you and the president of Crescent Societyâ¦â
Ellinor finished for her. âThought I was in a romantic relationship with the president of Crescent Society?â
Belinda felt even guiltier, âItâs what Collin told me, he said you and Chase from Crescent Society tied the knot, so I justâ¦â
Ellinor fell silent.
There had been a misunderstanding between her and Theo before, which made Theo think she had married Chase.
So, it was conceivable that Theoâs right-hand man, Collin, would think the same.
Belinda sighed, looking worried, âEllinor, did you know? Ever since you left, Theoâs been down in the dumps. Heâs wasting away! Then, when I heard you married another man, I planned to help Theo win you back!â
Ellinor snapped back to reality and smirked, âYou planned to help him win me back? How exactly?â
Belinda said confidently, âI was going to get a job at Crescent Society first, then get close to your husband Chase, make him cheat on you and get dumped, then Theo could swoop in, and youâd be back in Theoâs arms.
After hearing her plan, Ellinor couldnât help but twitch her lips, feeling utterly speechless.
Belinda really did think differently from normal people.
Ellinor rubbed her forehead, âSo how far along is this grand plan of yours?â
Belinda said, âI got hired at Crescent Society and have been working there for a while.â
So that was it?
So Belinda worked at Crescent Society; thatâs why she saw her coming out of the presidentâs office.
Ellinor looked at the naive girl helplessly. Then how did you get close to Chase?â
Belinda shook her head, âAh! I havenât even gotten close yet. I canât seem to find the chance.
Ellinor, your partnerâ¦I mean, your friend. Your friend is hardly at the company and is always busy working. On the rare occasions when I get to serve him a cup of coffee, he doesnât even glance my way!
Iâm beginning to doubt myself! is my appearance really that unattractive? Have I completely lost my appeal to men?â
Ellinor breathed a sigh of relief, at least Chase hadnât messed around with this girl.
