Ida shot him a cold look, âEllinorâs the one moasting you, donât drag me into this.â
Ellinor was done arguing with them. She checked her watch and saw that there was an hour left before clocking out. Sheâd just make it to the Blanchet Corporation by quitting time if she took a cab.
She put down her coffee and got up from her office chair, âYou guys, carry on with your stuff, Iâm heading out.â
Chase asked, âWhere are you off to. Ellinor? Arenât you eating with us?â
Tm going to pick up Theo from the Blanchet Corporation.â Without turning her head, Ellinor waved her hand and walked out of the CEOâs office Chase shook his head helplessly as he watched the door close, âAh⦠that lovey-dovey atmosphere!â
After coming back to her senses, Ida shot him a disgusted look, âAlright, go back to your office and be jealous there!â
The coffee shop across the Blanchet Corporation building.
Ellinor picked a window seat and ordered a coffee.
She had a clear view of the entrance to the Blanchet Corporation, so she could see Theo as soon as he stepped out.
She hadnât told Theo she was coming because she wanted to surprise him and see how heâd react to her picking him up from work.
How would the straight-laced, serious Theo react when he saw her? She found the thought amusing.
As Ellinor thought about it, a hint of an anticipatory smile appeared on her face.
Suddenly, someone tapped her shoulder from behind.
Who was it?
Ellinor turned around cautiously, only to find a familiar face.
Belinda Wesley collapsed into the seat across from her, panting heavily. She snatched the coffee from Ellinorâs hand and gulped it down before saying, âDamn, Ellinor, Iâm beat! Chasing after you is no joke!â
Ellinor raised an eyebrow at her, âChase me? From where?â
Belinda caught her breath, âIâve been following you from the Crescent Society. My car broke down on the way, and I couldnât get a cab, so I ran.â
Ellinor squinted at Belinda, who was all sweaty. She called over a waiter, âAnother glass of ice water, please.â
âSure, just a moment.â
When the waiter brought the water, Ellinor looked at Belinda with a steady gaze, âSo your car broke down, you couldnât get a cab, and I took a taxi. You shouldâve lost me by then. Howâd you find me?â
âWell⦠Iâ¦â Belinda looked guilty. She sipped the ice water to ease her embarrassment.
Ellinor eyed her sharply. âYou werenât trying to catch up with me, you were tailing me.â
Belinda couldnât come up with a good excuse. She blurted out the truth, âAlright! I admit, at first I was trying to tail you. I lost track of you when my car broke down, but then I realized I was near the Blanchet Corporation. So, I went there to find Theo, but instead, I found you in this coffee shop.â
