James's pov:
"And you're absolutely sure that this is ready and will work?" I ask Remus eyeing the potion in my hands.
"Positive." He nods inspecting Sirius's potion.
"And what if it's not right, or something goes wrong?" Peter eyes the potion anxiously.
"I guess you won't actually die, I hope. But maybe be stuck as an animal or maybe turn into a half animal. I don't know." Remus shrugs.
"WHAT?!" All three of us yell looking at him.
"No thank you, I will not live with ears and a tail for the rest of my life." Sirius hurriedly pushes his potion into Remus's hands.
"I'm only kidding! I'm sure it will be fine. It's just that there are only few registered animagi, so we don't know what could happen if it goes wrong. Although, it is normal when first time turning back human, you have a tail or ears." Remus explains giving Sirius his potion back.
"It's your choice, you already know my opinion. But I'm sure that the potions are done correctly." He reassures.
I take a look at the potion in my hands. It has a brownish color and sort of a glimmer to it. It doesn't have a strong scent, kind of smells like a forest.
Sirius sniffs his potion and scrunches his face "It smells like a wet dog."
"Really? Mine smells like a forest." I hand him my potion and he hands me his.
Sirius's potion is black and has a silver glimmer to it, if you look at it from different angles. I sniff it and pull away at the smell.
"Yep, this definitely smells like a wet dog. You will probably turn into a dog." I hand him back his potion.
He hands me mine. "What if you turn into a bear. Bears live in forests and they're brown." Sirius points out.
"Let's hope it's not a big animal like a bear." I mumble.
"Mine is gray and silverish." Peter inspects his potion.
Sirius gasps "Maybe you'll turn into a shark!"
I burst out laughing. Peter looks terrified and Remus rolls his eyes put hides his smile.
"But what if one of us turns into a elephant or a giraffe? We'll break James's house." Sirius snickers.
"If that happens, we will definitely get caught. And we don't want to get caught." I remind them.
Peter sniffs his potion "It smells like grass and cheese." He claims.
"Maybe a mouse or a rat?" I suggest.
He shrugs.
"Considering how annoying you all are. You'll probably turn into mosquitoes." Remus jokes.
Sirius gives him an offended look. "I am not annoying, and I will not turn into a mosquito."
"Okay enough talking. Let's do it." I announce.
"Okay, I'll count you down." Remus offers.
I nod and take a deep breath.
"3...2...1.." Remus counts slowly.
I raise the bottle to my lips and drink the potion. I scrunch my nose at the weird feeling. It's cold and has a weird texture. Also tastes like wood.
I look at Sirius and Peter who have the same expression on their faces.
I feel sort of nauseous and close my eyes for a second.
"Whoa- what the-!" I hear Remus yell and a thud like he fell.
I open my eyes. I feel like I'm a lot taller.
I see Remus on the floor looking around at us.
I turn away to look at Sirius but instead of his usual appearance there is a black dog. I turn to Peter and am surprised to not see him there. I look around worriedly but hear a squeak. I look down and see a rat. So there's Peter.
I look down at my feet, but instead of my feet there are hooves.
I try to say something but my words are replaced by a weird noise.
Sirius barks in response and wags his tail.
"Okay, this is so weird. James, you're a bloody stag and I'm worried for your flooring, be careful not to damage it." Remus stands up from the floor.
I give him an offended look.
Sirius barks and starts running around the room. He jumps and spins in front of Remus.
"I like you better when you're a dog." Remus admits while patting Sirius's head.
Sirius barks and licks his face.
"Ew, why Sirius?" Remus wipes his face disgusted by Sirius's action.
I take a few steps but I feel my head get stuck. I try to look up as best as I can and see my antlers stuck between the ceiling lamp.
Great
I try to pull and shake my head, but nothing works.
Remus spots me struggling "Wait James, stop. You're going to break the lamp!" He rushes over to me.
"Wait, I'll get your desk chair." He walks over to my desk.
Annoyed with the situation, I pull with a bit more force. Okay, maybe a little bit too forcefully.
I feel my antlers getting out behind the lamp. Satisfied with my self I take a step back.
And the lamp crashes right in front of me.
Peter squeaks and jumps away, almost getting hit with it.
Oops
"James!" Remus shouts.
"What was that?" I hear my mum call from down stairs.
Shit. I look at the others with wide eyes and they all have the same expression.
"Uh.. It's nothing Misses Potter!" Remus anxiously yells back. He runs and checks if the door is locked. "Quick, change back! I can't use the counter-spell, we're not at Hogwarts!"
Easy to say change back! I close my eyes and try to focus on myself as a human, and think about transforming back.
I hear my mother's steps approaching my room.
Come on... Has it worked? Am I back to myself?
"Why is the door locked? Alohomora." My mother's muffled voice mutters from behind the door.
The door opens and I quickly open my eyes and look down to see if I'm back human. In relief I see that my human body is back.
I look at Sirius and Peter who also have successfully transformed back.
"What's all this noise?" My mum steps into my room and stops.
"What happened to the lamp? How did- James why do you have antlers?" My mum looks at me confused.
WHAT?
Shocked I feel the top of my head, and there they are. A pair of antlers. Not as big as they were when I was a stag though.
"I.. uhh.." I hesitate trying to think of a explanation.
"It's because of a candy from Zonko's!" Remus gives my mum a nervous smile. "It's their newest product!"
All four of us nod eagerly.
"Oh, that explains the noises up here. Any candy that makes you bark like a dog?" She laughs and walks over to the lamp and pulls out here wand.
She mutters reparo. The broken lamp gets fixed and returns to it's original place on the ceiling.
"Oh yeah, that was me." Sirius admits anxiously.
"Okay, but keep it down. Your father is trying to work." She points at me and leaves the room, closing the door behind herself.
We wait until she's down the stairs.
And all three of them burst out laughing.
"You should've seen your face when you realized that you have the antlers!" Sirius laughs.
"Remus fix me! I don't want to have stag antlers!" I turn to Remus and shake him by the shoulders.
"At least you weren't a full stag when your mum entered the room." Peter points out.
"Exactly! I think they suit you." Sirius grins.
I turn to glare at him and notice something.
"Sirius, can you turn around?" I ask him trying to contain my laughter.
"What, why?" Sirius asks confused but obeys.
He turns his back at us and we start laughing again.
"What! What is it?" Sirius looks at us confused and then turns to check his back.
His face turns from confusion to shock "Oh my- REMUS!" He shouts and runs up to laughing Remus.
"Stop laughing and fix it! I have a bloody tail! I don't want a tail!"
"I think it suits you." I smirk at him.
