Chapter 18: Chapter 16

In your dreams|James PotterWords: 7544

So, let's say that the quidditch match didn't go as well as planned.

Here I am, running towards the hospital wing with Remus and Peter. I feel like my lungs are burning, but we're almost there.

"This feels oddly similar to last year." Peter comments, out of breath from the running. Remus hums in agreement, also out of breath from the running.

"I definitely hope that it's not as bad as last year." I say swinging the hospital wing's doors open.

There are a lot of people in the room. Most people are just here for their friends. I scan over the beds and finally find the one with a black haired boy.

I sigh in relief seeing that he's in pretty good shape. Next to him sits Sirius whose hair is all messy from the wind and snow.

"Look who showed up!" Sirius grins spotting the three of us. James turns his head towards us and gives us a smile.

"Merlin, you scared me half to death! Are you okay? We were so worried!" I ramble as I pull up a chair next to James's bed.

James props himself better against the bed and groans. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Don't worry about me so much." He rests his head on the pillow and gives me a lazy smile.

"You did fell from the sky, and quite high up mate. I think we have every right to worry." Remus points out and takes a seat with Peter next to Sirius.

"I've been telling him to keep his eyes on the game." Sirius states. He puts an arm around Remus's shoulders.

James rolls his eyes. "Look at the bloody weather out there! It's a snowstorm, how am I supposed to see through that? And if anything it was your brothers fault." He grumbles looking at Sirius.

"The pride and joy of the family himself!" Sirius leered. "Isn't he wonderful, James?"

"I mean, you really can't blame him. It's quidditch, and look at the weather. You can hardly see where you're going, and to fly with a broom." I defend Sirius's brother.

Regulus Black, the younger brother of Sirius. Both of them aren't that fond of each other. But deep down they care. You can see how Sirius worries about him, even though he tries to hide it.

James give me a look. "Y/N, didn't you see how forcefully he flew straight at me to get the snitch? That hardly was an accident!" He scoffs.

I sigh. There's always problems like this when Gryffindor and Slytherin play against each other.

"Okay, I agree that doing that wasn't the nicest thing. But, you also have to understand, actually never mind." I stop mid sentence. "You won't get it through your head because you're too prideful to admit that you lost to a Slytherin." I huff and slouch back into my chair.

"Well yes we lost, but because he cheated. Why would you need to fly into somebody in full speed? It's just a slytherin thing to do. And what's with you defending him? You've defending him instead of me, your best friend. And what's up with you and that other guy, the one named Jared or whatever it was?" James snaps.

I stare at him in confusion. What does Jasper have to do with this? I'm really starting to get annoyed with his attitude

"First of all. Slytherins are not bad people, It's just some of them. And I'm defending Regulus because I was there and it didn't seem like he was doing it on purpose. And second, his name is Jasper and I like to hang out with him. It doesn't concern you who I hang out with."

Remus and Peter are awkwardly looking around the room. Sirius listens carefully at the conversation.

"Why bother checking on me then? Maybe you should go ask Regulus if he got hurt." James sneered.

"Merlin James, you got hit and fell off your broom from high up. Of course I'm going to check on you, because I care! Please get over yourself and think for a moment! I don't want to fight with you, you're my best friend." I cry out as I frantically wave my hands around.

I tend to do that when I'm overwhelmed or when I explain stuff.

There is a silence for a moment. I wait for James to apologize or say something at least. Nothing.

"Forget about it." I sigh and stand up.

"No, wait Y/N." I feel a hand grab my wrist and pull me back. I look back at James who is the one grabbing my arm.

I give him a questioning look and sit down again.

James sighs and closes his eyes for a moment. "I'm really sorry Y/N for lashing out on you like that. I know I can be an idiot sometimes and not think about what I say." He looks at me with guilty eyes.

I smile at him "Thank you for apologizing."

He smiles back at me and adjust himself to pull me into a hug. "And sorry for the Jasper thing. I guess I just get jealous some times." He admits.

"What? James Potter admitting being jealous? How is this possible?" I gasp.

He rolls his eyes.

Sirius clears his throat. "That was kind of awkward if I'm entirely honest."

"Yeahhh.." Remus agrees awkwardly.

"Sorry. And I didn't mean to offend you and Regulus by the things I said about him." James apologizes.

"Nah it's fine. He's annoying anyways." Sirius waves his hand.

"Glad we're over with that." Remus scratches the back of his head.

"I agree. I thought you two will end up not speaking for days again." Peter explains.

James gave me a sheepish grin. "Every couple fights from time to time," he pulls me by the waist next to him "Isn't that right, love?"

I try to stand up again but he pulls me back. "We're not a couple. But yes friends do fight from time to time." I give him a smile.

James frowns.

"Ouch" Whispers Remus while holding in his laughter.

"Friend zoned again, Jamsie." sighs Sirius and pats James on the shoulder.

"Second time this week." Peter mutters.

James gives them all a glare.

I laugh at him "Don't worry, you'll get lucky one day."

-

I lazily drop my books and wand on the desk and sit down. I rest my head against the books and close my eyes. Why do we have to wake up so early for school?

I hear the chair next to me creak. I open my eyes to see James sitting next to me.

I lift my head up. "Madam Pomfrey finally let you out?" I laugh recalling the memory of her not letting James leave.

"I think I annoyed her too much with my pleading and she gave up and let me leave. I'm never going to stay there for two days ever again." He shudders.

I snort. "Such a drama queen."

"I'm not!" He looks at me offended.

Before I can answer professor McGonagall starts the class. I start writing down notes and trying to not pay any attention to James.

James is very good at transfiguration so he thinks that he doesn't need to pay attention. Most of the lessons he tries to find different activities for himself.

Right now he's twirling his wand between his fingers and looking around the classroom.

I feel a poke on my arm but I don't pay attention to it. After few seconds I feel another poke. I keep writing and still pay no attention. And another poke. And another. And another.

I turn to James annoyed and about to tell him off. But McGonagall beats me to it.

"Mr. Potter can you not disturb Miss L/N? I know you've been laying in a hospital bed for two days but control yourself!" Minerva tells him off.

Some people laugh and look back at us where we're sitting.

"Sorry Minnie, I'll control myself. Go on with the lesson." James assures.

McGonagall gives him a look but returns to teaching.

I feel another poke and turn to glare at James. "What?" I whisper yell at him annoyed.

"I just wanted to say hi." He grins and does a little wave.

Are you for real right now?

I give him a 'really?' look and groan in annoyance. "You're awfully annoying, you know that right?"

"I beg to differ." He simply states.

Sorry for any bad writing and grammar! I wrote this chapter quickly and only checked over it once.
