It's getting colder and darker with every day. The leaves have almost completely fallen off the trees. The weather is mostly rainy or windy, basically normal UK weather.
Studying has been annoying as always, nothing new. The marauders have been getting detention and creating chaos around the castle.
Remus however has been looking sick and tired for the past few days. He reassures that he's fine, but I'm not so sure.
I headed towards the great hall for lunch. I told the others to go ahead because some twats had made a mess in Herbology and I got blamed over it. Three guesses who the twats were.
Oh, they of course were over the moon when they found out that they didn't get blamed. Luckily professor Sprout didn't give me detention, I just had to clean it up.
I huff and push open the great hall doors. Everyone was already there eating or finishing up.
I look around trying to find where the girls are sitting. I don't see them on our usual spot, some sixth years are sitting there. I decide to walk more to the front. Maybe they are there.
Finally, I spot all of them sitting together. I march towards them, but my eyes land on a specific group of boys. The four of them seem to be in a deep conversation. They are whispering and checking if anyone is listening every few seconds.
I roll my eyes and continue my walk. They aren't too far from the girls, which sucks but, oh well.
I walk up to the girls and sit down. I throw my bag a bit further away from myself. They all glance up to me and give me a smile. I respond with a tight lipped smile.
"You didn't get detention, right?" Lily asks while cutting some of her food.
"Luckily no. But I'm still mad that they just laughed and didn't even try to get me out of trouble. I mean, it was kind of expected, but still! I always help them, bunch of arseholes." I snarl.
"I could hex them, if you want." Marlene offers, nodding towards her wand that is on the table, next to her.
I chuckle. "Nah, it's fine. Not that big of a deal."
"Alright, whatever you say. But remember, I'm more than happy to do it at any time." She takes a sip out of her drink.
"Here," Mary hands me the salad "eat something."
"Thanks" I smile and put some salad on my plate, along with some other food like potatoes etc.
We finish our lunch and head towards the exit.
"We still have time before our next class. Let's go and hang in the common room maybe?" Lily suggests checking her watch. We all agree and start walking towards the common room. We chat about random stuff and just what's going on.
"Y/NNNN" I hear a familiar voice drag out my name behind me.
James
"Y/NNNN"
And Sirius
"Ignore them." Mary advices as she pulls my arm to walk faster. "They don't deserve your attention, it's like you're babying them around all the time."
"You can 100% hear us, stop ignoring." Sirius shouts.
I sigh "It basically is. They get into stupid and dangerous situations."
"Well, you're not that innocent either." Lily pipes in.
"But I am more sensible." I argue back
It is true, I'm not that perfect either. I've done lots of pranks, sneaking out and other stuff. But I'm like Remus, more sensible.
"True." Lily agrees.
I hear quick footsteps and suddenly, all four of them are in front of us. James and Sirius energetic as always, Remus still looking tired and Peter shy.
"Come on you can't still be mad at us for what happened earlier." James starts.
I simply ignore him, like he wasn't there. I look straight ahead of myself and continue walking down the hallway.
"I told you, we should give her some space." Remus argues with the others.
"Nah. Marlene how are you doing on this fine day?" Sirius asked turning to Marlene. "Good." She answered coldly. "What about you Lily?" He continued. "It was good until you all showed up, except Remus." Lily gave Remus a little smile.
"Ouch. Y/N I have never quite understood why you like to hang out with them. They're mean" James questioned. "Because Potter they're more mature than you four nimrods."
"Last name basis I see. She's pretty mad." James turns and looks at the other boys. Sirius and Peter nod while Remus rolls his eyes.
"Y/N/N we will be sad if you stay mad at us." Sirius fakes a sad face.
"Good. Stay sad." I reply carelessly.
I turn around and start walking in the other direction, leaving the others behind.
I get to walk for maximum 20 seconds, before I'm bothered again.
"What can I do so you won't be mad at me?" James almost begged.
"Maybe give me room to breathe." I mumble.
He ignores my comment completely. "We will make it up to you. Meet us at 12pm in the common room."
â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢
I turn in my bed, trying to find a comfortable position. Nothing works. I've been trying to fall asleep for so long, but nothing helps. I just toss and turn. I check the clock on my bedside table. 11:48pm.
I groan and lift my sheets above my head. James's offer comes into my mind.
No Y/N, don't give in so easily.
But then again, I can't sleep anyway so...
I lift my sheets and stand up from my bed. I grab some clothes and quickly change. I grab my wand from the table and slowly try to open the door. I cringe at the creaking sound it makes. Quietly, I slip through the door and mutter lumos.
I hear some whispering and noises down. The boys must be already there.
"Sirius, shut up, you're going to get us caught!" I hear James whisper yell.
"Well I'm sorry-" He begins but notices me at the end of the staircase.
"Oh Y/N, you came!" Remus smiles.
I nod with a smile. "Only because I couldn't sleep and I was bored."
Sirius snorts "Yeah, yeah, whatever helps you sleep at night."
I look around the room and notice that there's three of them, not four. "Where's Peter?" I quirk an eyebrow.
"He fell asleep and wouldn't wake up." James shrugs.
"True. I screamed into his ear, but nothing happened." Sirius chimes.
I look at him with a confused look. He did what now? "Pardon? You screamed into his ear?"
"Don't even ask," Remus shakes his head and sighs. "But is it really surprising? I'm definitely not surprised."
"Actually, I'm not surprised." I agree with Remus
"We're not as bad as you make us sound. Now," James takes out his invisibility cloak "we should get going, because I really wouldn't like the idea of Minnie catching us and taking away my invisibility cloak."
"Where are we going?" I ask as I slowly lift up the cloak and go under it.
"To the lake," James, Remus and Sirius also hide under the cloak. "The full moon is in two days, so it seems pretty full already. And the sky is clear, we should see some stars also." James explains.
I feel Remus tense up a little, but when I turn to look at him, he just smiles.
"So why can't we go on the full moon?" I questioned again. "Uhhh... ehm.. because" Remus stuttered.
"Because you're mad at us right now and not in two days." Sirius quickly finishes the sentence.
"Okay"
â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢
Finally, we reach the lake. It took us a good amount of time. James kept stepping on my foot and Sirius kept pulling the cloak away from me. We lift up the cloak and throw it aside.
The sky is indeed clear and the moon looks like it's full. You can see the moons reflection from the lake. But it's also pretty chilly, since it's November.
I lay down on the grass and look up to the sky. It's full of stars.
I feel someone lay next to me. I turn my head to see James. Feeling my gaze on him, he turns and looks at me. He gives me a smile and I smile back.
"You're not really mad, are you?" He asks hesitantly.
I laugh "No of course not. I'm just stubborn. But you have to admit, it was a pretty shitty thing to do."
He had a sheepish grin "Well, I thought you're going to start blaming us, but you didn't. You just tried to defend yourself."
"Yep, I'm not a snitch."
He chuckles. We lay in silence for few seconds, looking at each other's eyes. You could see the moons reflection on his glasses, the same way as on the lake. His black hair messy as always.
We hear a laugh and raise our heads towards it.
We see Sirius and Remus near the lake laughing at something.
They see us staring and make their way up to us.
"How's it going lovebirds? Thought we should give you two some space you know." Sirius smirked.
"Could say the same towards you and Remus." I mocked.
Sirius glares at me, Remus clears his throat and James tries not to laugh.
"Shut it, James." Sirius snaps and lays down next to him.
Remus lays down next to me.
We sat in a silence for a minute until Sirius speaks up again.
"That there is Sirius." He points at a bright star in the sky.
"Of course you know where it is," I laugh "But how do you remember it's location?" I ask feeling actually interested.
"Well, you see the three stars in a straight line? This is the Orion's Belt and below it is Sirius. It's also the brightest star also known as the dog star." Sirius explained.
"Wow, who thought Sirius could be so smart?" Remus jokes.
"Hey! I'm pretty smart, if I say so myself." Sirius boasts.
"Sure thing." James assures him.
