Gio's POV:

I've never understood why people think Romeo and Juliet is such a good love story. I mean, what's so great about two naive teens dying in the name of something they didn't actually experience? Why did they have to kill themselves? There was so much more for them to live for.

Yet the moment I lose Rosary, it dawns on me why they cut their lives short (and it's not because they were being dramatic). I think that in the little time they had known each other, Romeo and Juliet became a source of understanding in the other one's life.

While they were together, Juliet could finally be herself without having to worry about what her controlling parents might think or do. For Romeo, being with Juliet meant he could talk with someone who didn't treat him like he was fragile.

Either way, they were able to understand each other, and once they got a taste of how good life could be, neither of them were willing to give it up. They couldn't see a future without the other one in it and so they made sure there wouldn't be one.

So where does that leave me?

I don't have much time to dwell on my thoughts though because as my head lays on Rosary's chest, I begin to hear her heart faintly beating. My body freezes with shock and I listen for her heartbeat again to make sure I'm not going insane.

And there it is; the faint sound of her heart fighting to keep her alive. Without my consent, hope begins to well up in my chest.

"Dr. Williams, I hear her heart beating. She's not dead, do something," I urge.

"Unfortunately that is a part of the dying process for some people. Their hearts can beat in intervals for up to five minutes after initially flatlining. I'm sorry Giovanni."

As soon as that hope came, it disappeared.

"But we will wait five minutes and see if it is still beating."

On instinct, I reach out and grab Rose's hand praying to whoever or whatever is in control of fate.

Five minutes.

I know she can do it.

The next five minutes seem to last five years. I hold my breath when we reach four minutes and thirty seconds. So far, her heart has been beating the whole time with only a few palpitations.

Five seconds.

Thump.

Four.

Thump, thump.

Three.

Thump.

Two.

Thump, thump.

One.

Thump.

I instantly look up to see Dr. Williams and a few nurses running around the room, hooking Rosary back up to all of the machines. Gently, I brush a few strands of hair away from Rose's face and whisper, "It's going to be okay; keep fighting baby."

The next few days seem to drag on as I sit by Rosary's side, praying she continues to improve. Dr. Williams claims that she could wake up any day as she has begun to rapidly heal; I'm honestly getting whiplash with how quickly her condition keeps changing.

I decide to get some work done to try and pass some time because as much as I'd like to forget about it and focus solely on Rosary, I can't. I'm too much of a control freak to let other people be in charge. There's a reason why I'm the boss.

I'm about three angry phone calls, fifteen emails, and two slammed-shut laptops into working when I get a call from my second-in-command, Mario.

"What?" I question.

"We were able to locate and capture Leviathan. What should we do?" Mario asks.

"Hold up, I'll be there in a few," I answer and hang up the phone.

As I get up, say goodbye to Rosary, and kiss her on the forehead, my mind wanders to Mario's words. In the chaos of everything that went down that day, Leviathan was able to escape. But now, thanks to my men, he is going to pay for what he has done. A smile lights up my face at the thought. On my way out of the hospital, I ask one of Rosary's nurses to notify me if anything happens and then, I'm off.

As I unlock the torture room in one of my warehouses, the sound of Leviathan's cries for help surrounds me. Everything falls silent as I step inside and signal my men to stop what they are doing.

"Please leave us to... discuss," I ask my men.

Once me and Leviathan are the only people left in the room, I turn towards Leviathan's beaten and chained body. An evil smirk spreads across my face as I begin to stalk towards him like he's my prey. Because he is. And I refuse to let him survive this.

I only stop once I'm face to face with him and then I simply stare into his cold, beetle eyes. We stay there for a few minutes in complete silence until the coward breaks.

"You're the reason Rosary died," he bites out trying to get a reaction from me. Instead of giving the bastard what he wants, I stand there and continue to glare at him.

"You aren't fooling anyone with your bullshit lies," I respond.

"Well it's no lie how good Rosary tasted," the dirty pig in front of me says while smiling. I feel my inner demons surfacing at the thought of Rosary being violated by her own father. But I refuse to give Leviathan the satisfaction of knowing he got underneath my skin even if he is going to die soon.

"You disgust me. Was it not enough for you to ruin Isabelle's life?"

"Wha- How do you know about her?"

Apparently, he's dumber than I thought.

"It's almost like she was my girlfriend's mother. Oh wait, she was. And by the way, what made you think it was okay to take advantage of anyone, let alone your own daughter?"

"Stop putting the blame on me; I'm not the one in the wrong here!" Leviathan sneers.

"This is almost laughable. Of fucking course you're the one in the wrong!" I fire back.

"You're a monster and if she found out the truth, Rosary wouldn't have ever wanted to be with you."

He cannot be serious right now. Just as I'm about to answer the idiot in front of me, my phone rings. One look at the caller ID and I'm taking out my gun and pointing it at Leviathan. It's the hospital.

"If you so much as breathe too loudly, I will not hesitate to shoot your face off," I growl out and accept the call.

"Hello, is this Giovanni Antonelli?" A receptionist, I'm assuming, politely asks.

"Yes, is Rose okay?" I ask, instantly fearing the worst. In the corner of my eye, I see a smirk light up Leviathan's face though he remains quiet.

"Oh yes! In fact, I was told to notify you that she has woken up and is requesting to see you," the lady on the other end of the phone happily explains.

"Sounds good, tell her I'll be there right away," I answer and hang up the call.

"You didn't tell me she is still alive," Leviathan says with a smile.

"Hmm, maybe that's because you'll be dead soon anyway."

Not wanting to deal with the poor excuse of a father that is sitting in front of me, I leave the room. My men are standing outside waiting for me to give them a command.

"Do whatever you want with him, just make sure he stays alive. I want to be the one to kill him."

"Yes sir," they all respond.

On the drive to the hospital, one thought seems to stand out; while we may never know if Romeo and Juliet felt real love, there is no question that me and Rosary do.

Our love is one that lasts.
