âHubby, are you busy?â Gu Huanhuan asked tentatively.
Wen Chi had noticed that Gu Huanhuan would call him Hubby whenever she had done something wrong.
Addressing him this way now, he guessed she knew she had caused some trouble.
âI just finished, whatâs up?â Wen Chi pretended not to know about the entertainment reports; he wanted to see Gu Huanhuanâs reaction.
âOh, itâs nothing important, just⦠if you hear any rumors, just ignore them,â Gu Huanhuan said nonchalantly.
âWhat kind of rumors?â Wen Chi seemed not inclined to let the matter go just yet.
âWell, donât get angry when you hear it, okay?â Gu Huanhuan still cared very much about his feelings.
âGo ahead.â Wen Chiâs tone remained indifferent, leaving Gu Huanhuan uncertain whether he was happy or upset.
âI was photographed with senior Lu Yiming, and we got embroiled in gossip. Let me clarify, weâre innocent. We were rehearsing our lines, and there were other people present, but they captured just the two of us,â Gu Huanhuan said anxiously.
Confession leads to leniency, resistance leads to strictness.
Gu Huanhuan hadnât intended to conceal it from him; with the news causing such a stir, he was bound to find out.
âOh.â Wen Chi replied with a single word, but Gu Huanhuan knew he was somewhat angry. Anyone would probably be upset in such a situation, and she understood.
âAre you angry?â Gu Huanhuan probed.
âLetâs talk when you get home.â After saying that, Wen Chi abruptly hung up the phone.
Gu Huanhuan was left listening to the âbeep beep beepâ on the line.
It seemed he really was angry. Pouting her lips, Gu Huanhuan decided she would cajole him when she got back tonight.
Because of this incident, Gu Huanhuan couldnât wait to get home.
When she arrived, Wen Chi hadnât yet returned. The nanny was holding Xiaobao, playing in the living room.
Xiaobaoâs eyes crinkled into lines as she smiled upon seeing her. She could already recognize people.
However, she was a little thankless wretch; when her daddy wasnât home, she would cling to her, but if Wen Chi was around, she only wanted to be held by daddy.
Wen Chi didnât get back until around 7 oâclock in the evening. A patient had come in suddenly just as he was about to leave work, so he had been delayed a bit.
When Gu Huanhuan saw him come home, she quickly went up to greet him, helped him with his briefcase, and brought his slippers.
Wen Chi gave her a cursory glance and then went over to Xiaobaoâs little bed.
As if sensing her daddyâs return, Xiaobao laughed non-stop with âgiggles.â
Wen Chi smiled back at her, but he didnât hold her right away because he had just come from the hospital and didnât want to expose her to bacteria before he changed his clothes and washed his hands.
âHubby, are you hungry? Iâll go warm up the food for you,â Gu Huanhuan said ingratiatingly.
Wen Chi nodded, and Gu Huanhuan headed into the kitchen.
When Wen Chi came out of changing, he paused as he saw the figure in the kitchen. Gu Huanhuan had her hair in a simple, neat ponytail, wore pink plain slippers, and was tied in a floral apron, holding a spatula carefully reheating the dishes.
It melted Wen Chiâs heart to witness this; in fact, he had deliberately given her the cold shoulder, hoping sheâd learn a lesson and not fall for someone elseâs schemes again.
She was certainly trying to make amends, which showed she really cared for him.
As she was warming up the soup, she took a spoon, scooped a taste, and tried it herself.
âIs it ready?â Wen Chi asked, âIâm hungry.â
Gu Huanhuan jumped, her whole body shivering, and then she turned to see him and patted her chest, âYou walk without making a sound.â
âYouâre just too focused on what youâre doing,â Wen Chi said, looking at the soup in the pot with his heart stirring.
âHmm, itâs all your favorite dishes,â Gu Huanhuan tenderly cooed.
