Wen Chi drove away the moment Gu Huanhuan left his line of sight. He was also worried that theyâd be spotted.
The younger reporter only retracted his gaze after both the car and Gu Huanhuan left his line of sight. He then scrolled through the photos on the LCD screen of his camera and commented, âSo pure and innocent. I donât think we can find many like her in the entertainment industry nowadays.â
Strange, why hadnât Gu Huanhuan caught his attention before? It wasnât until Director Guanâs âMeeting by Chanceâ that everyone turned their attention to Gu Huanhuan.
Gu Huanhuan did not know that she had been spotted. She was still holding the breakfast that Wen Chi bought for her. She wasnât planning to eat it so she could keep herself trim, but Wen Chi gave her a lecture.
That was expected, of course. Doctors usually paid great attention to personal health.
However, she was very happy inside. It felt good to have someone care about her all the time.
Susie walked in not long after Gu Huanhuan sat down. She was without her assistant this time but there was another person behind her. It was Liu Yiyi, who had also auditioned for the same movie.
When the two of them came in and saw Gu Huanhuan, they treated her like she was invisible.
âMiss Susie, I feel so bad for you. You were supposed to be the female lead, but your role was snatched away just like that. In terms of acting skills, beauty, and talent, youâre way ahead of her.â Liu Yiyiâs words were full of regret.
Susie pulled some favors to get Liu Yiyi in, so it was natural for Liu Yiyi to brownnose her.
âWhat can I do? I can only admit that Iâm unlucky. Besides, sheâs rich and connected. I canât afford to offend her.â Susie said bitterly.
There had been reports saying that Gu Huanhuan came from a good family, but no one knew the specifics. Groundless rumors like that were a dime a dozen in the industry.
âHow despicable. Some people are just so thick-skinned.â Liu Yiyi said disdainfully.
âDonât say anymore. The audience has sharp eyes.â Susie always felt that Gu Huanhuanâs acting skills were not as good as hers. If she acted better than Gu Huanhuan as the second female lead, it would be a slap in Gu Huanhuanâs face.
A sinister look flashed across Susieâs beautiful face.
Gu Huanhuan couldnât listen anymore. Although they didnât mention her name, she knew that they were talking about her.
She found it strange though because no one actually announced that Susie was the female lead of âMeeting by Chanceâ, so how could she accuse someone of stealing her role? Or was she so confident that she would be the female lead?
Gu Huanhuan wanted to stay out of trouble at first, but she was angry and couldnât take it anymore.
A scholar would rather be killed than be humiliated.
âSusie, thereâs no one else here. Letâs make things clear. I won the female lead role fair and square. I didnât steal it from you. Get your facts right and stop accusing me of stealing your role.â
Gu Huanhuan felt really disappointed. She was in such a good mood in the morning, but now she felt like she had just swallowed a fly. She felt extremely disgusted.
âGu Huanhuan, donât be so smug. If it werenât because of the photos of me going to a nightclub, would you be so lucky? Donât you know what youâre worth?â Susieâs tone was aggressive.
âSince you said so, you can confront the director and the producers. Donât slander people behind their backs.â Gu Huanhuan was furious. She had never come across such a thick-skinned person. Susie was being ridiculous in the way she twisted the facts. What made her think that she had the right to do so?
âWhatâs done is already done, so thereâs nothing more to say. But you should watch your back. You wonât be lucky all the time.â Susie warned Gu Huanhuan.
âThank you for the reminder.â Gu Huanhuan said impatiently. She was so angry that she didnât want to lose the temper anymore. She even found the situation funny.
