Chapter-11-"When I am there, you don't need to take care of yourself"
Pauline June's POV
We are still on the way to Nick's house. But all I can think about is what the bet is about. How am I involved in it? Is it all even true? Should I believe Nick? But whatever he said, I can see it in his eyes that it is all true! I should find out about it soon.
"We are here", I heard Nick say as he got out of the car and opened my door. I thanked him. I was about to come out when he offered me his hand to take. I looked at it, then back at him. Should I take it? Even before I can respond, he took my hand and gently pulled me out.
We started walking towards the entrance of his house. This is the first time I am coming to his house. I have once met their parents on the day of his sister, Amelia's wedding. They are such a cute couple. Even in their fifties, they love each other so much. I just didn't meet them then as his girlfriend. The house is so beautiful. It is a villa. We got to the backside of the house.
There is a beautiful green lawn and big trees are acting like boundaries around the walls. Big royal like sofa's are arranged and everyone is present. I am feeling nervous. Nick saw it and pulled me closer, holding me by my waist. I know everyone of his brothers, since we all studied in same school. Does that mean his brothers knew too?
I am sure Tyler and Xander definitely know. Because they are always there when Nick used to take me to lunch with him and they are just one year younger than him. I saw that Amelia and Mr. Knight, I mean Zack are sitting very closely and her brothers are sitting beside her. They are having so much fun. I feel like I am an outsider putting my nose in their family matters.
"Pauline!", I heard Amelia say and looked at her. She got out of Zack's hold and came to come smiling widely. I smiled back at her. I can't stop it. Her smile is so contagious. She is a pure and innocent girl I have ever met. She came and hugged me tightly.
"Hey", I greeted hugging her back.
"I am so happy that you are here! I tried calling you a lot of times this morning, but I heard that no phone is workign with this number. Did you change your number?", she asked with a frown on her face. I glared at Nick and he smiled sheepishly at me. I shook my head at him and turned back to his sister.
"Yeah. My phone broke today morning due to some.... some....", I trailed off.
"Don't try to curse Baby. You can't", Nick teased. I clenched my jaw. I really need to fix this cursing problem.
"Nick!", I hissed.
"Okay. Calm down. Now come a sit with us. I have a very big news to tell you all!", she said excitedly while pulling me with her. I sat beside her as she sat on Zack's lap. Nick is sitting beside me. Tyler and Xander smiled at me, but I just ignored them.
"So what is it Princess?", her father, Vincent asked while putting a hand around his wife.
"Okay here it is", she said and took a deep breathe.
Zack kissed her cheek and she looked down at him. They both smiled at each other with love and Zack nodded his head for her to tell.
"I am pregnant", she said smiling and waiting for our reaction. My mouth dropped open. So is almost others. But not her parents's. His father is loking coolly and her mother is grinning as she stood up.
"What?!", Nick, Xander and Ashton shouted in surprise.
"Yes!", she grinned and her mom hugged her squealing happily. I stood up and hugged her too.
"That's too fast. It has been just a week since you both got married", I heard Nick complain. Zack smirked at him.
"She is my women now. I am sure you won't stop when you will find yours", Zack said and Nick looked at me. I turned my head to other side. I know they are talking about me.
"I am so happy princess!", her dad said as he came to her and lifted her off the ground to swirl her aorund. Seeing them made me remember my dad. I ahve to meet him today at six in the evening.
"Me too dad! Thank you", she said and he put her down. All of her brothers hugged her, including Nick.
"I can't believe my little sister is now going to give birth to other baby", Ryan, her second brother said. The irony is, Nick's best friend name is Ryan and Nick's first brother name is also Ryan.
"She is", Ashton said while hugging her. She grinned. I smiled at all of them. They are such a happy family. I saw that Mr. Witmore is kissing his wife and everyone groaned. They pulled away.
"Oh please dad! Not now!", Tyler said. Mrs. Witmore hid her face in his chest as her husband smirked.
"What? It is such a happy occasion. Our little pricess is pregnant. I get at least a kiss from my wife for that", he said.
"How is Amelia getting pregnant and you kissing mom about it connected?", Tyler asked.
"Come on. Your beautiful mother gave birth to your beautiful sister, who is now going to give birth to another beautiful baby. It's all because of your mom. Doesn't she deserve a kiss?", he said and kissed his wife on her lips again. We all laughed at them. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to see that it's Nick.
"Nick, what are you doing?", I hissed at him as he tried to kiss my cheek. Tyler and Xander are watching us.
"Why are you always so moody these days. Give me back my lovely Baby girl", Nick demanded. I reolled my eyes at him.
"Stop it", I oredered.
"What?", he said and kissed my cheek.
"Nick?", I heard Mrs. Witmore call and gave us both a curious look. All eyes are on us. Amelia is smiling at us like she knows something. Tyler and Xander gave us both knowing looks. Nick coolly placed his hand over my shoulder in front of everyone. I put my head down not wanting everyone to see my red face.
"Yes mom", he replied.
"What is happening here?", his mother asked while pointing to us both with a small smile on her face.
"I know you guys already met her. But now meet her as my girlfriend", he said and I glared at him.
"Girlfriend?! Finally!", she said and came to me to hug me. I hugged her back and she pulled away.
"I am so happy that he got someone after all these years. It's good that he stopped his playerish ways!", she said and I heard Nick groan while shifting on his legs uncomfortably.
"I knew it! I knew it from the starting!", Amelia squealed and jumped excitedly. Zack stopped her.
"Angel, careful. We are having our baby in your stomach now", he said smoothly and she gave him an apologetic look before they kissed.
"Oh for God's sake! When is PDA going to stop in this house?!", Ryan shouted. We all laughed.
"Okay. We need to go now. I have an important meeting today in the afternoon", Nick said to them.
"We? Should you both go?", Mrs. Witmore asked Nick.
"Yes", Nick answered.
"But why? Is she working for you?", she asked. I smirked at Nick.
"Yes", he answered looking here and there.
"What?".
"Mom, she is my P. A".
"Oh we know", I heard Xander tease.
"But she joined near you just two days ago after Zack removed her from her job right?", Amelia asked looking really confused.
"Yes".
"Then, how can she be your girlfriend so fastly?", his mother asked. I just stood there. Sweat broke on Nick's face. They got him.
"Wait! Why did Zack remove her from her job?", his father asked. I am looking at Nick with a big smirk on my face with my hands folded near my chest.
"Your son told me to do so", Zack answered looking at Nick. Nick is looking at the trees like they are giving him the entertainment noe.
"I knew it!", I said glaring at him.
"What is happening? Why would you do it Nick?", his mother asked and I saw that Mr. Witmore is having a smug look on his face, like he knows everything and took a sip of his wine.
"Mom, I....", Nick trailed off.
"What?", she asked again and Amelia is looking at us with curiosity. Zack said something in her ear and an understanding look crossed over her face. She grinned at us. I turned to Nick. He fell in his own pit.
"I know her before she is my P. A! Okay?! I told Zack to do so, so that she will not have any option but to join in my company! Now happy! We are leaving now", he said taking my hand. Mr. Witmore raised his glass of wine towards Nick, like he is saying all the best, with an amused smile on his face.
"Nick!", his mother called. He started walking outside.
"Bye mom! I will call you later!", he said while pulling me outside with him. I heard a bunch of laughs.
"That's my son!", I heard Mr. Witmore say in the as we passed the front door and Nick opened the car door for me as we got to the car. I sighed and sat inside. Nick got in his seat and I started laughing suddenly. Their family is the best one that I met till now. They all however pulled his strings and made him sweat.
"Why are you laughing?", Nick asked with an amused smile on his face.
"You sweat so much you know. They know how to make you nervous", I said trying to control my laugh.
"Okay stop it now", he ordered as the smile disappeared on his face.
"You should have seen your face back there", I said stopping the laugh.
He smiled sarcastically at me. I laughed at him and looked ahead. We are in the traffic.
"What is this important meeting about?", I asked him.
"You don't worry. You just sit there beside me. It's about the new textile company that we are buying. Also stay away from Trent", he warned.
"Trent? Who is Trent?", I asked while looking at him.
"He is the owner of the comapny that he is going to sell to us", he explained.
"Oh".
"Don't talk with him. I will always be there with you".
"Nick, I am not a small kid. I can take care of myself. You can do your work without bothering about me. Also if I don't have anything to do with the meeting why should I attend it? I will just sit in the cabin".
"No. You should be there in the meeting room. When I am there, you don't need to take care of yourself, I will do it. Just stay away from Trent".
"Nick please", I pleaded him.
"No. Now come on", he said as he parked the car in the cellar of the company building and came out to open my door.
"Nick, I forgot to tell you. I should go out today at six in the evening", I told him while walking inside the building.
"What? Where?", he asked. We got inside the lift and Nick clicked the button.
"No. I want to go there alone", I said sighing. The doors of the lift closed and it started moving.
"Baby girl, you know I won't let you. So tell me", he demanded. Beast!
"To visit my dad", I answered looking down. The lift stopped and we got out.
"Oh. We will", he said and turned me to him. He kissed my lips lightly before walking towards his cabin. All the events that happened today morning came into my mind and I stopped at one question.
Does Nick really love me like he said?
