Chapter 223:
Collin flattered himself by the assumption that Harlee cared for him.
He had just received a slap, and she already felt sorry for him.
He figured she was just pretending to be indifferent, as stubborn as ever.
âHarlee, you havenât eaten yet, right? I know the perfect place. Let me take you!â Collin suggested eagerly.
The surprise registered on Harleeâs face was soon replaced by disgust.
She then sneered.
Collin was just a disgusting man.
Harlee elegantly lifted her leg. Ritchie instantly got the hint and blocked Collin.
Collin stood there, watching Harlee move further away. The sting of the slap lingered on his cheek, so while he was furious, he could only glare at Ritchie, not daring to get physical.
As Collin watched Harleeâs retreating figure, his determination to win her over intensified. With confidence, he said, âHarlee, no matter how you act, youâll end up with me!â
Inside an extended Lincoln, Barbara George, the George familyâs hostess, watched with disgust. She always looked down upon Collin, an illegitimate child born out of her husbandâs affair. She had arranged for Collin to get engaged to the daughter of the Gill family out of kindness. Yet, here Collin was, snobbish as ever, eagerly dumping the Gill family daughter for Harlee, whom he once looked down upon until he learned she hailed from the influential Sanderson family.
âMom, regarding the Sanderson familyâ¦â Freyja George, Barbaraâs biological daughter, said.
Barbara remained composed.
âDonât worry.
Collin will land himself in enough hot water. We just have to sit back and wait for him to fully infuriate Miss Sanderson.
By then, the George familyâs shares will revert to us.â
As Adamson George, Collinâs father, favored Collin despite Collinâs apparent lack of business acumen, Barbara had begun planning to seize control of the George family assets. She didnât mind a divorce from Adamson, but she certainly wasnât about to walk away from the money.
Freyja sneered, âI had seen Miss Sanderson at the banquet.â
âDoes that fool Collin really think he stands a chance with her? Heâs living in a fantasy!â Freyja, the eldest daughter of the George family, was more capable than Collin. Yet, Adamson refused to let her join the company and even tried to marry her off to some man just to bring benefits to the family business.
Fortunately, she had a wise mother who had planned everything for her and her sister.
âFreyja, if you get the opportunity, develop a strong bond with Miss Sanderson. It will only benefit us.
But be genuine.
Donât let her sense any ulterior motives, or it could backfire harshly.â Barbaraâs gaze was intense and piercing.
âI get it.â
