Chapter 8: The Bad Boy is My Enemy(8)

The Bad Boy Is My EnemyWords: 15667

I muted the tv as Alex came into the living room. It was ten AM and I expected him to be still looking like he just woke up. However, he didn't. He was completely ready and had packed bags at the door.

"Where are you going?" I stood up, following him to the kitchen.

"The boys and I are taking a road trip." He told me and I gasped, getting ready to overload with excitement, but Alex Parker cut me off.

"Before you ask - no you cannot come." He placed a slice of toast into the toaster and grabbed the peanut butter from the cupboard.

"What?! Whyyyy?!" Alex turned to me while I was mid strop, whining and dragging out my words.

"Because you're a loser." I rolled my eyes and the smirk that accompanies his charismatic, gorgeous eyes fell onto his lips.

"Not fair!" I pouted and this time It was Alex's turn to roll his eyes.

Why was it every damn time he was going to do something fun, I wasn't not allowed to go?! We had this same argument each time and each time I end up going. I hoped this time followed in suit.

"Quit whining, my mum will look after you"." His toast popped and with one smooth flick of the wrist, his peanut butter was on his toast evenly and he was taking his first bite.

"I'll call Grayson!" I threatened him and his face contorted into features that proved Grayson was the weak spot.

"I'll let you come. On one condition!"

"Anything!" I grinned widely and clasped my hands together as though I was begging.

"Say; Alex Parker is a sexy beast and is way better than my loser of a self. I love him so much!" He grinned and my face dropped.

"No way." I narrowed my eyes.

"I'll see you when I get back then yeah?" He ruffled my hair and proceeded to walk into the next room.

"Wait.." I let out a deep sigh .

I couldn't believe I was about to say this..

"..Alex Parker is a-" I hesitated momentarily, getting ready to swallow my pride as Alex folded his arms, an amused looks playing on his features.

"..sexy beast and is way better than my - " I sighed before choking out the last few words.

"Loser of a self..I love him so much."

Alex: 1

Max: 0

"Why thank you loser. Go get your bags." I grinned and rushed up the stairs. A road trip was well worth the mini defeat Alex had now got over me.

I shoved my clothes and extra necessities into my duffel bag and rushed back down the stairs just in time for the boys to be pulling up. They were being extra rowdy, purely from excitement.

With Grayson beeping the horn in rhythm, Kyle sat in the back- well, hardly. More like resting his legs on the seat and sitting on the window, more or less his whole body hanging out and Jace and Tara singing at the top of their lungs to beautiful girl, laughing and being completely out of key.

My whole body jolted with excitement as I swing the door open and practically ran to the vehicle as they cheered from the inside. Alex jumped in the front and I squashed into the back with the other three.

"Told you you'd let her come dude." Grayson grinned and Alex shook his head, rolling his eyes in defeat.

~~~
"You know what we haven't done in a while?" Kyle said as he came out of the service station toilet.
"What's that?" I asked and the smirk each of the bad boys shared crept onto his lips.
"Something illegal."
"Not again!" I whined.
"Oh cmon! You've only ever broke into a swimming pool, you're such a good girl. A goodie goodie!"
"I am not a goodie goodie!" I crossed my arms and soon I felt Grayson's arm slither around my neck, I didn't even have to look, I just knew now.
"Prove it..Goodie goodie." Grayson taunted me.
"Oh I'll prove it.." Challenge accepted.
~~~

The car ride was extra squishy and I was practically sitting on Kyle, but he didn't seem to mind.

"Any luck with the ladies yet?" I made conversation as all he had done was tap the screen of his phone for the last thirty minutes.

Kyle let out a dry laugh and shook his head. "None."

"Well that's your fault." I nudged his shoulder and he copied me.

"My fault?" He gave me a puzzled look and I rolled my eyes. Boys.

"Yep. I know plenty of girls who obsess over you at school but you never pay attention to the." I told him.

"Maybe I only have eyes for one girl." He looked down at me and my heart melted.

"You do?" I asked, eyes wide and vulnerable, ready to take everything in.

Wow, I did not expect Kyle McCall to come out with something quite as lovely as that.

"Nah, who am I kidding!" He laughed. And now I saw the similarity between Kyle and Alex.

"Idiot."

"Goodie goodie."

I was going to hit this boy.

~~~
Some hours later we pulled up in the drive way of Grayson's family log cabin. It was the only one in sight, with a beautiful porch and a fire pit in the front. To the left was a huge lake.
We were surrounded by a forest of trees, it was quiet and looked rather beautiful if I was honest. Although, I could imagine the darkness of the trees would scare the hell out of me at night.
The log cabin door opened up into the living room, with cosy sofas, a fire pit inside and wooden stairs to the right leading to the rooms.
Tara and I agreed it would be much more fun if we had a girly sleepover and shared a room. Kyle and Jace shared another and Grayson and Alex shared the last.
"Are we really just going to leave our stuff here while we go out? Anyone could come if it looks like people are staying here!" I pointed out to everyone, however, nobody except me actually seemed to care.
Jace was the one to speak this time, flinging his arm around the waist of his girlfriend and pulling her closer. "Theirs nobody here though Max."
"That's what you think." I mumbled and then carried on . "What if when were sat at the fire pit tonight bears come?!"
"There are no Bears Maxy." This time it was Kyle, when I refused to give up my stance he continued. "Or are you too much of a goodie goodie to have a bit of fun?" His smirk grew and Alex looked at him as if to applaud him.
I groaned and followed the boys and Tara into the woods, dragging my feet hesitantly. Neither of us had any idea where we were going, but I' was pretty sure each of the boys had one thing on their mind. Trouble making.
That being said, I somehow had to prove that I was not a 'Good girl.' , but how?! I was not a bad person. I didn't break the law and I could only imagine my mothers horrified glare if she ever found out I got into trouble. I'd be locked away forever, never to see my friends again.
So what could I do?
Vandalism? Maybe.
Breaking and entering? I could have done it.
Steal? Nah
Streak? No way!
Ugh this was harder than I thought...
I picked at the branches from the trees we were walking through, breaking twigs up and throwing them down out of habit.
Tara and I walked in front of the boys, gossiping about schools and how she went to a school only ten minutes away from ours but her parents refused to let her move as they thought Jace was a bad influence.
As I was about to reply with my comment on understanding her parents views, but knowing Jace really wasn't a bad guy, I was rudely interrupted, but not by words - oh no. By my own scream as I hurtled toward the floor as my feet were swiped out from underneath me. When I hit the floor with a thud, Alex broke into laughter.
"Jeez Cupcake, you have GOT to stop falling for me." He held out his hand to help me up, which I refused and helped myself up.
"Jerk!" I glared at him and each of the boys looked amused.
"Weasel."
"Imbecile."
"Blockhead." I gasped, I am not a blockhead!
"YOU FAT LARD." I yelled and he was in fits of laughter once again, yet this time I could not help but join him and the rest of them. I dusted the mud off my clothing and palms and made a mental note to strike Alex back soon.
We soon reached the end of the forest and were welcomed into a busy street of houses and cars. It was becoming slightly dark yet not completely and we headed in the direction that Alex picked.
We decided to take a trip into the closest shop and found snacks for later tonight, such as marshmallows and crisps.
That's when I saw it. That's when I knew what I could do to get rid of the title 'Goodie goodie.' It was not great, but it would do. It would prove to Kyle that I was not a complete good girl.
I picked up eggs, flour and toilet paper secretly and bought them, carefully shoving them into my bag without the gang knowing. Grayson filled a bag of junk food and we were on our way again down the streets. Now it was completely dark.
~~~

"We're here ." I told the boys and Tara. It took a while to convince them to follow me and now that we were stood outside a big house with all the lights out, they were looking at me like I was crazy. When I saw a black BMW parked in the drive way, I knew I had chosen the right house to mess with.

"What exactly are we doing here cupcake?" I smirked and pulled out the three things I would use to destroy this relatively big garden and each of their faces lit up with excitement.

Except Tara's, she was doing exactly what I'd be doing if one of the boys were showing me the three objects and that was thinking 'I can't believe I'm letting them drag me into a load of trouble again.

Alex pulled out his phone and flicked open his camera. "I think we should all remember this prank that makes Max officially one of us."I stick my tongue out and held up my items as his flash blinded me and I pretended I actually wanted to destroy their lovely garden.

'Officially one of us.' Alex had said. I couldn't stop my stomach feeling warm with happiness.

Here goes nothing.

I whispered "I'm so sorry." and squeezed my eyes shut momentarily before I rushed over to the trees.

I threw each of the gang a toilet roll and we tried to contain our laughter as we threw long parts of it into the trees and littered the grass. I had to admit, it was fun, but I couldn't help feeling guilty.

We threw eggs at the house and at the trees and ran around the garden like complete idiots.

I had just one toilet roll left and I walked over to the gorgeous car, the rest following and watching eagerly.

I pulled out my lipstick I brought with me and wrote 'you've been pranked xoxo' on the front window neatly. Now it was time to ruin it completely.

I gave everyone an egg and I threw the first one at the car, it splattered and the yolk ran, the rest followed in suit and the worst possible thing happened.The car alarm sounded and the lights flashed.

I watched in horror as the upstairs light flicked on and by now Alex was trying to get me to run, but I had to finish my task.

Ripping open the flour, I threw it messily over the car and then added toilet paper.

As the door opened, we were panicked and sprinting down the path and out of the garden, down the street as cop cars sounded in the distance. We raced into the pitch black forest, only our phone flashlights lighting our way as we panted heavily. We didn't stop until we reached the cabin.

I collapsed on the floor as we all breathed loudly "that...was worse...than track." I panted.

"I didn't think you had it in you Maxy, I guessed you're not as much of a good girl as I thought?" Kyle grinned obnoxiously, he didn't seem as fazed as me by the running, in fact, he looked like he hadn't actually ran at all.

Looking at the boys, I realised they were hardly panting at all and it was only Tara and I practically dying. Embarrassing.

"That was the most fun I've had all week." I grinned and then I realised, it probably shouldn't have been.

Since living with Alex I had been chased by police twice now, yet never before in my life until then, bad role model? I would say so.

"I suppose it was okay ..for you of course." Alex threw me a cheeky wink.

~~~
Jace got a fire started, since he was the only one who knew how, thanks to boys scouts when he was ten. The rest of us watched him unhelpfully.
It was midnight, yet I didn't feel tired, probably because I was still overly hyped from my awesome prank.
When one was lit nicely, we pulled out the marshmallows and each hovered one over the fire, twisting it slowly. Roasted marshmallows were without a doubt my favorite.
"Somebody tell a ghost story?!" Tara clapped her hands excitedly.
"What so you can get scared and creep into mine and Jace's room?" Kyle teased and earned a glare.
"Lame." Alex dismissed the idea and Grayson gasped exaggeratedly.
"Ghost stories are NOT lame!" He shook his head and shoved a marshmallow into his mouth, then spoke with his mouth full of the melted white froth, which was a disgusting sight. "But let's not scare the ladies aye." He shot Tara and I a wink and I crinkled my nose.
"Well it's almost one AM, I'm going to get some beauty sleep." Tara Informed everyone as she stood up and leant down to peck Jace's lips.
"I'll come too." I stood and waved goodnight to the boys as I followed behind Tara inside.
"Yeah well, it'll take a lot more sleep than Tara to make you beautiful Maxy." Alex remarked. In return, I flipped him the middle finger before closing the cabin door behind me.
✖️Alex Parker's POV✖️
The girls headed to their room, leaving just us boys around the fire.
"So Alex, what's the deal?" I looked at Grayson confused, yet Kyle and Jace seemed to know exactly what Gray was talking about.
"What deal?"
"Don't play dumb mate. Maxy" Kyle answered this time and I leaned back into my chair.
"No deal." I replied.
Jace scoffed "That was funny, move onto the next joke please would you."
I took a moment to answer, choosing my words carefully. " I don't know what you're talking about guys."
"Do you like her?" Grayson asked and I laughed loudly.
"Of course he likes her, it's obvious." Kyle shook his head and my laughter was cut short.
"You guys are so wrong. I can't stand Max. The sooner her mother is home the better." Each of the boys gave me a look they'd never given me before, a disapproving look.
"Alex mate, stop being a douche. You and I both know that even when her mom comes home, she's still going to be one of us." Gray's facial features told me he wasn't not joking.
"Not happening."
"Okay if you can't admit you like her...answer this honestly at least. You've enjoyed her presence. Don't try to deny it." Jace also looked serious and when I glanced at Kyle, he did too.
"Fine! It's been fun I guess." I groaned at the words leaving my mouth and tugged lightly at the front part of my hair.
"So you don't like her?" Kyle asked me as each of us stood up, putting out the fire and getting ready to head to our rooms.
"Nope." I popped the P for emphasis.
"So you wouldn't mind if Tara and I switched rooms tonight..."He replied and my heart stopped.
I pushed my tongue against my right molars, my mouth curving into a smile that couldn't believe what Kyle had just said.
"I'll be gentle with her, if you only care about her as a friend." Kyle said, taking a step closer to me.
"That's the only way I care about her." I confirmed, my eyes on Kyles, my hands stuck to my sides.
"I'll trail my hand down her thighs...I wonder if she'd like it when I kiss down her neck." Kyle's tongue swiped his lips.
"Don't you even think about touching her, Kyle!" Before I knew what I was doing, I was shoving at Kyle's shoulders.
"So you do like her." Kyle's smirk I saw at least a thousand times a day played on his features and I sat down again, shaking my head.
"No."
