Chapter 44: ~43~He Is Everywhere

OverprotectiveWords: 16583

Lately, my asthma has been really acting up. After the night Dad came over we pretty much had a regular day. Dad decided to start with Dylan since he might be the easiest. It was going to take a little more work to get through to Justin, and Jason and Jacob didn't really care if he talked to them.

In the end, Dylan ended up saying two words to him the entire time which weren't very nice words. Dad left and we had pizza for dinner again. The remaining school days leading up to the weekend were pretty much the same.

Jacob told Jason about the mysterious guy and Jason said he would look into it which he definitely did. He actually came to school with us in his work uniform with his supervisor to look for the guy but we didn't see him. I found that timing to be oddly coincidental.

On top of that, I still hadn't seen Sally. It's like she just disappeared off of the face of the earth. I don't know what happened to her, I don't know where she could have gone. She hasn't been answering any of my texts or phone calls. She was just...gone.

It worried me a lot more to know the circumstances. The day after she told me what my Mom was doing, she suddenly went missing. There was no doubt in my mind that my mother had something to do with this. I just needed to find out what exactly it was that she was doing.

But it would have to be much later since I am stuck in bed having an asthma attack. I woke up this morning coughing and wheezing. It wasn't a severe one as it could be sometimes, but it still sucked. It was totally ruining my weekend. I had this great, but a crazy idea to actually have a fun and relaxing weekend, but it's not off to a great start.

Besides if it wasn't this ruining my morning it would have most likely been my brothers. So now here I am just laying in bed. I didn't have my inhaler near me, I couldn't call for anyone cause that would have taken too much out of me. I couldn't get up, cause then I would probably end up collapsing to the floor.

I held my chest as another round of coughing coursed through me. They were always so painful. My bedroom door opened and Dylan's head popped in. "Lisa, can you please stop making all that noise? What are you doing?" he asked as he looked in.

He saw my miserable state and his eyes widened. "Lisa! Are you having an attack?" he asked rushing over to me. "W-what does i-" I started to say but another round of coughing cut me off. It felt like my chest was being ripped open from the inside.

Tears rolled down my face as it was really difficult to breathe. "Jason!" Dylan yelled out sitting me up in my bed. "What!?" Jason yelled from somewhere. "Come here, quick!" I kept wheezing hoping for this to go away at some point.

"What do you w-" he stopped abruptly once he got into my room. "Get her inhaler," he said taking Dylan's place next to me. "Okay Lisa, try to take some deep breaths okay?" he said. I was trying, but that was near impossible. "I-I can't," I strained out.

More tears slid down my face as it was getting harder to breathe. "Hurry Dylan!" Jason held both of my hands. "You can, okay. Just breath in and let it out slowly." I tried to do what he said, but another wave of coughing got me.

He rubbed my back as I sat up again. The pain in my chest was increasing. Dylan ran in with my inhaler. We would definitely have to get these refilled again soon. He handed it to Jason who shook it a couple of times.

"Alright breathe out," Jason said. I breathed out then clamped my mouth around the mouthpiece of the inhaler. I felt the cold air hit my throat and held for a little before breathing it in. "You're alright sweetie," Jason said continuously rubbing my back.

I could feel the medicine working like magic. After a minute I took another hit from the inhaler. The wheezing was starting to subside. We did that 2 more times before it had mostly subsided. "Do you feel better?" Dylan asked from the edge of my bed. I nodded still not able to talk.

Dylan sighed running a hand through his hair. "Man, that's scary every time," he said. "Yeah tell me about it," Jason mumbled wiping at my tears. "You alright?" he asked pulling me in for a hug. I hugged him back not wanting to let it go.

"Yeah. This just really sucks," I said earning a slight chuckle from Dylan. "I really wish you didn't have to go through this," Jason said kissing my forehead. Dylan nodded in agreement. "It's so bad, I wouldn't even wish it on Grayson," I mumbled into Jason's chest. They must have heard because they both chuckled.

"Too bad it happened this morning. I was going to teach you how to swim," Dylan said. I shot up but groaned at the pain in my chest. "Don't worry, we will do it another time," Jason said looking at me.

They made it sound like I actually wanted to go swimming. I am deathly afraid of the pool. Unless it's the shallow end there was no way I was stepping a foot inside of it.

"There is no need for that," I said. My voice sounded hoarse and I cringed at the sound. "You have nothing to worry about," Jason said smiling at me, but I saw a hint of mischievousness in it. "You are definitely going to learn so don't even try to protest," he finished giving me a semi-stern look.

I groaned. Why me? I was perfectly fine without swimming. There was no need for me too. "But why?" I asked. "It's a safety precaution, Lisa," Jason said running a hand through my hair. "Yeah like if someone pushes you into a pool, or you slip near a pool and no one is around. We can be sure you won't drown," Dylan explained.

I could see where they were coming from but I just really didn't want to. "You know I heard drowning is a terrible way to die. You are alive for most of it and you feel your body losing oxygen-" Dylan was cut off by a slap upside the head by Jason.

"Shut up! Don't listen to Dylan," Jason said glaring at Dylan then turning to me. "As long as we are around you aren't going to drown. But you don't have to think about that right now. Just take it easy for today, " he said.

I nodded. It's not like I had any fun ideas planned. I hope you noted the sarcasm. Jason kissed my cheek and left. Dylan kissed my forehead. "Glad you are feeling better." He started to leave but stopped and turned around.

"It also feels like your heart is about to explo-"

"Dylan!" I shouted as loud as my current state would let me. I threw a pillow, but he dodged it and closed the door.

"Jacob, I need a haircut," I said. We were on the way to the shop to get some movie night snacks. "Yeah, I agree," he said glancing at me. I rolled my eyes. "But no one will take me to get one. What am I supposed to do? Cut it myself," I asked looking up at him.

"Well yeah, or I can cut it for you. I learned a lot by watching Jason cut Justin and Dylan's hair."

"No! None of you are touching my hair. I need to get it professionally done," I said folding my arms above my chest. Jacob gasped. "Are you saying Jason is not a professional?" he asked with a hand on his chest.

"Not for my hair!"

"Wow, Jason is going to be heartbroken," he said shaking his head. I rolled my eyes. "Stop being annoying," I said slouching in my seat. He laughed, "It's just so fun to," he said pulling into Walmart's parking lot.

I noticed that it started to sprinkle which made me smile. I love the rain. I love the scent, the feel, the look, everything about it. We walked into the store and I got a cart. "Alright we are going to need two carts by the look of this list," Jacob said scrolling on his phone.

I groaned. "Why couldn't we just order in? They have that pickup feature now," I said. "It's not the same," was all he said as he walked towards an aisle. I followed him adding some things in the cart that I thought we would need.

In no time we filled up the first cart. It was filled with large snack bags, drinks, frozen food, even more pillows. That last one was Dylan's idea. I have no idea why since we have more than enough at home, but we got them anyway.

"Jacob I am tired of walking," I groaned out. I was still tired from earlier. I don't even know why I volunteered to come. I was just so bored sitting in bed. "We are almost done. We just need some-" Jacob squinted at his phone.

"Is this some sort of typo?" he asked. I looked up at him. "Let me see." He lowered the phone so I could see. "That is definitely Justin," I said laughing. He, for some reason, wanted us to get stuffed animals.

"Why would he want that?" I asked. "I don't know. It's Justin," he said. We went to the toys aisle and got some stuffed animals. I picked out a giraffe because I think it represents my brothers quite well. I got a look-alike one for Justin, a gorilla. It was perfect.

After another several minutes, we finally made it to the checkout line. I didn't even want to look at the total because I would probably scream.

It started to rain a lot harder since we came in. You could hardly see anything. We parked the trolley under the shade to not get wet. "How are we supposed to get all of these things in the car now?" I asked.

It was bad enough that we had about a million different items, but it was worse because now it was raining and the car was parked across the lot. Jacob sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Fantastic," he mumbled.

"Okay, I'm gonna bring the car here. Watch the trolley and don't move," he said. I nodded and watched as he ran out into the rain. I knew I should have just stayed home in my warm comfortable bed. It was cold out here now and I was starting to get wet despite being under the shade.

I looked around huddling near the carts. I was so tempted to eat one of the bags of chips right now, but Jacob would probably catch me before I could open it. A familiar voice startled me. "Lisa?" I turned around to see Liam.

My eyes widened as I immediately looked for where Jacob would be. "What a coincidence," he said smiling down at me. I gave him a nervous smile. If Jacob caught me right now I would be dead. I took his hand and pulled him into the store.

"Woah, what's the rush, blue?" he asked chuckling a little. I stopped near a rack of clothing and turned around to face him. "My brother is here. I can't be seen with you," I said. He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion until realization hit him. "Oh, your brothers," he said.

I nodded. "Well, can I at least get a hug?" he asked giving me the puppy dog eyes. I smiled and hugged him. He hugged back and I could smell the wonderful scent of his cologne. It smelled so good. It reminded me of a warm feeling that I never want to leave.

"LISA!" A loud voice startled me out of the hug. Shoot! "I gotta go," I said smiling up at him. I was about to leave when he stopped me. "Text tonight?" he asked. I nodded and waved to him as I went back outside.

Jacob visibly relaxed when he saw me. "I give you one simple instruction not to move, and you can't follow that?" he asked starting to pack the groceries. "Sorry, I thought I forgot something," I said.

Good thing he was too preoccupied to realize I didn't bring anything. I decided to help him to make this go by faster. I picked up all of the light things because I was not trying to break something.

We finished and I hopped into the car. I still managed to get soak and Jacob was even worse. It was like he just came out of the pool. "Did you go swimming?" I asked laughing. He glared at me. "You didn't have to maneuver around a bunch of old people just to get to the car," he said.

"What are they even doing out? It's pouring," I said glancing at the people as they ran across the parking lot to get the safety of their cars. "Yeah, well they looked like they were enjoying it."

"Well, you know what they say. You only live once," I said leaning my head on the window. I screamed as Jacob started shaking his hair splashing water everywhere. "Stop," I said as he got some water in my eye.

"What? When will I get to do that again? You only live once," he said smirking at me. I glared at him and did the most childish thing ever and stuck my tongue out. "Oh boy, not that," he said over dramatically. I playfully rolled my eyes. "Whatever," I said.

We sat in silence as Jacob maneuvered the traffic. He scrunched his eyebrow and seemed to be in deep thought. "Is something wrong?" I asked. He squinted into the rearview mirror. "Yeah, this person has been tailing us for the last couple of blocks," he said increasing the speed a little.

I looked at him for a little. "Well, maybe he is going the same place as we are," I said trying to think of the thousands of other possibilities. "Let's see," he mumbled to himself. We suddenly took a turn into an unknown neighborhood.

"What are you doing?" I asked. "If he follows us that's no coincidence," Jacob said watching to see if the car turned too. Sure enough, the car turned down the same street. Now I was getting worried. "M-maybe he lives in this neighborhood. Turn down another street," I said turning around to look at the car.

It was a simple green car, nothing special about it. "Don't do that, Lisa. He may not know we are onto him."

"Well, if he is following us, what's the difference?" I asked turning to look at him. He ran a hand through his hair frustratingly. "I don't know. Just don't let him see you," he said glancing at me. I nodded and sat back down. What if we were being followed? What if the attacker wanted to kill us? What if-

"Lisa, calm down," Jacob said. I realized I was starting to hyperventilate. Jacob placed a hand on my knee. He took a turn down another random street and the car turned down the same street. "Oh my god he is following us," I whispered to myself.

Jacob parked on a curb and the guy parked behind us. "Stay in the car. I'm going to see what this guy wants," he said. I held onto his hand not wanting him to leave. "No! What if he tries to hurt you?" I asked looking up at him.

Jacob placed his hand on both sides of my face. "I can handle myself. I don't want whoever this is to follow us home. If something does happen, lock the doors, stay in the car, and call 911," he said.

I nodded reluctantly and he went outside in the pouring rain. He was definitely going to have a cold after this, and most likely me too. I watched through the rearview mirror what was happening. I could barely see because of the rain, but I could see Jacobs outline.

I was so worried the guy would do something to Jacob, I could feel my heartbeat in my ears. Jacob knocked on the window and the guy stepped out. I could barely see his face because of the rain. They exchanged a few words, then Jacob suddenly punched him.

He seemed really angry but didn't do anything back. Jacob pointed at him, said something else and stormed back to the car. I watched as he got in and started the car. "What happened?" I asked when Jacob didn't say anything.

"Our lights were out," was all he said. I gave him a confused look. "He followed us to tell us our lights were out?" I asked. Jacob nodded. I furrowed my eyebrows. He could have beeped at us or something. Not try to follow us home. "So why did you punch him?"

Jacob looked at me, then back to the road. "Jacob, tell me," I said looking up at him. His knuckles were starting to bruise, but it didn't look too bad. "It's the same guy," he said. His knuckles started turning white from gripping the steering wheel so hard.

I thought for a minute before I remembered the only person he could be talking about. I was at a lost for words. He shows up at the movies, he shows up on Jacob and I's walk, he apparently works at our school, now he is here following us?

What on earth could he possibly want from us? I slouched in my seat. Can this day get any worse? "Well, did he say anything else?" I asked. Jacob shook his head. There was obviously something else he wasn't telling me.

We got home in no time, thanks to Jacobs speeding. "Finally. I was starting to think you guys decided to have your own movie night," Dylan said from the living room couch. "Jason we need to talk," Jacob said going upstairs. I knew what he was going to talk about obviously. I just couldn't believe this guy was still following us.

We had yet to know a valid reason, and that was worrying me. I had no idea what we were going to do about school, but I hope we figure something out soon.
