Earâpiercing gunshots echoed in the interrogation room.
Ockham and all the police officers present were dumbfounded.
Everyone anxiously looked toward Haylan, their expressions grave.
âHahaha! Die. Haylan, die!â
Joe roared with laughter, seemingly crazed.
He was sure of Haylanâs death after this one shot and was perversely excited.
âDid you think Iâll die so easily?â
Joe had not been laughing for more than two seconds when he suddenly heard Haylanâs cold voice.
Everyone hurriedly looked over when they heard Haylanâs voice.
To their astonishment, Haylan was still standing, unscathed.
âHow⦠how is this possible?â
Joe stared at Haylan in disbelief.
He fired at close range and could not believe Haylan dodged the bullet despite its fast speed.
It was unbelievable.
The others also looked at one another, suspecting they were hallucinating.
Everyone wondered how Haylan had managed to dodge the bullet.
âYou thought you killed me even though you fired so slowly? Arenât you being too naive here?â
Haylan asked.
âBastard, I refuse to believe I canât kill you,â Joe roared, aiming his gun at Haylan again.
However, Haylan kicked and sent Joe flying before Joe could fire his second shot. Slamming against a wall and his expression twisted by pain, Joe spat out blood, and the gun in his hand fell to the ground.
Haylan then looked at Ockham and asked, âWell, you saw what happened just now, Mr. Ockham.
Sergeant Joe wanted to kill me just now. Isnât that premeditated murder?â
Ockhamâs gaze was cold as he immediately ordered, âOfficers, cuff Joe!â
Although Ockham was not happy about Haylan hitting Joe in public, Joe fired at Haylan and tried to murder Haylan in front of so many people. It irked Ockham that Joe had acted up even with him here.
Fortunately, Haylan had dodged quickly and was fine. If Haylan had been shot to death before Ockham, a secondâclass police superintendent, his career would be over too.
Following Ockhamâs orders, two police officers stepped forward and handcuffed Joe lying on the ground. They lifted Joe from the ground and pressed him against a table.
Joeâs face remained ashen throughout the whole process.
Haylan looked at Joeâs despairing expression and said calmly, âSergeant Joe, you were wrong to underestimate us, the people of Longhard Kingdom, let alone discriminate against us.
âYour greatest mistake, however, was accepting Bernardâs money.â
âDid he really accept the money?â Ockham asked.
âYes, Mr. Ocklyam. You can check his bank account. I guarantee youâll find a large sum of money there,â Haylan answered.
Without saying another word, Ockham immediately picked up his phone and made a call.
A minute later, Ockham ended the call. With a dark expression, Ockham stared coldly at Joe as he cursed, âBastard, just you wait! Youâll be receiving a prison sentence for this!
âOfficers, take him away and lock him up for the trial!â
In pain from Haylanâs kick, Joe immediately panicked when he heard Ockhamâs orders. He hurriedly knelt on the ground and begged in a trembling voice, âMr. Ockham, I was wrong. Please give me another chance. I wonât do it again!â
As a sergeant, he had arrested and imprisoned many criminals over the years.
Joe knew those criminals he had arrested would take revenge against him once he was imprisoned.
He would meet a brutal end then.
Ocklian sneered and scolded, âYou wonât do it again? Joe, as a sergeant, you know the law. Yet, you still went ahead and broke it. You accepted bribes, maliciously accused others, and even deliberately tried to murder someone before me! How can I give you another chance after what youâve done? Take him away!â
Hearing Ockhamâs cold and hardâhearted words, Joeâs face turned ashen as he fell to the ground with a dull and despairing expression.
He knew it was over.
Everything was over for him.
Losing all his arrogance from before, Joe was dragged away by two police officers.
After dealing with Joe, Ockham walked up to Haylan and said, âMr. Jaber, itâs my fault for not disciplining my subordinates well and making you suffer. Donât worry. I will compensate you as the law dictates. Now, thereâs someone who wishes to see you. Please follow me.â
