Chapter 10 of 33

"The aftermath"

Love Left Me, But I Stayed137 words~1 min read

I thought missing you would be the hardest part.

But it was the emptiness that followed.

The quiet mornings,

The stillness of a bed too big for one.

No more footsteps in the hallway,

No more coffee cups left on the counter,

No more laughter slipping through the cracks.

It wasn't just you l lost—

It was the version of me

That existed when you were here.

And so, I had to learn

How to wake up in my own presence,

How to fill the spaces you left, How to exist

Without you.

Author's Note*

Heartbreak isn't just about losing someone—it's about losing the version of yourself that existed with them. I had to learn to live in my own silence, to find comfort in my own presence. And that, somehow, was even harder than saying goodbye.
