"That was a good plan you thought up, Beth. Very smart." She looked up from her phone at Meili who took a seat at the table across from her.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." She clicked her phone off and set it down.

"Getting her drunk, taking her picture, and posting it on an anonymous account all while pretending to be her friend... I admire your work." She moved a piece of hair over her shoulder, "I just have one question though."

"And what's that?"

"Did it hurt when they dragged you up from hell?" Meili smiled, but she knew it was fake. It was a nice shady comment from her... touché.

Bethany didn't get a chance to answer before someone slid into the seat beside her.

"What the hell, Bethany!" Theo threw his hands up, and she rolled her eyes at the second use of the word.

"You know too?" She scoffed, "It's not even a big deal."

"Not a big deal? What if she gets expelled?" He glared at her.

"She won't. It wasn't like she did anything at school." Beth paused, "You two better not tell her anything either."

"I didn't." Theo whispered.

"I won't, as I said, I admire your work." Mei smirked, "I mean, if I were in your position I probably would have done the same thing."

"You two are sick." Theo gave them both a look.

"Doesn't mean I agree with you doing this to Ella though. She's your friend, Beth." Mei added, leaning forward across the table. Bethany rolled her eyes, laughing.

"You two both know 'friends' don't exist in our world. You can't trust anyone," She paused, "And it just so happens to be that anyone includes me."

Bethany stood up, grabbing her phone and handbag, then walked off. Theo looked to Mei.

"When did she change?" He asked her. When Mei didn't answer he walked off too leaving her by herself.

Mei looked across the courtyard to see Sebastian hanging with a bunch of the lacrosse and golf boys.

When he caught her gaze he said his goodbyes and approached her. He was smiling dangerously, enough to make any sane girl swoon, and somehow the school uniform he was in made him seem even more charming than before.

"Do you enjoy staring at me?" He asked her, and she raised an eyebrow.

"Actually, I've only been doing it because you're so ugly that I can't look away." She answered as he sat beside her, "It's like looking at a train wreck."

He smiled.

"The guys were telling me how you're one of the most gorgeous girls in school, and I'm lucky I got accepted into your little... circle. Is this true, your majesty, am I lucky?" He asked, and Mei rolled her eyes.

"The world works in mysterious ways, Sebastian, and I'll tell you the truth," She turned toward him, "You know nothing about ours. You aren't ready for it... all the lies and deceit, and secrets. It eats you alive."

"Don't tell me what I know, Meili, I'm the son of a marquis. I know everything about secrets." He replied, something flashing behind his eyes, "Lying is like a third language to me, and deceit was something I learned of when I was just a child. I know exactly how mysterious the world can be."

He looked away from her.

"Since you obviously like to jump to conclusions I can only guess that you yourself are still to immature to understand. You walk and act like you're so much better than everyone else, but really I know it's to cover up the fact that you're not perfect. You aren't the perfect little princess everyone expects you to be, and you know it. You want more than this life of cheating and money and superiority."

"And how do you know this, Mr. Marquis." Mei raised an eyebrow, surprised he had the guts to tell her off. It impressed her.

"Because," He shrugged like it was obvious, "I want exactly the same thing."
