Hope's POV~
After breaking into the school, I go to Lily's room. But she's not there. It looks the exact same as it was when I left. But it also looks like she hasn't been here in a while, meaning she's with her mom in Europe, having the time of her life, not thinking about me. Which is good. She shouldn't think about me. To everyone else, I don't exist, why wouldn't she act like that too.
I grab a bag from her closet and put clothes in it. I had always had a small pile of clothes in her room for when we did movie nights and stuff. I also pack the prism Lizzie lent me, which I found in the twins' room.
After that, I go to the bus station. It just seems right to leave. While waiting I pull out the prism. "Hey, this seat taken?" I look to my left and see Lily, making me smile. "Lily" "How do you know me? Sorry, too soon? There's no way I would ever forget you." she asks laughing, making me give a light chuckle as well. "You're just saying that because you know I want to hear it." I reply and she shakes her head. "That's not how this works. I'm kind if here to tell you the things you don't want to hear right? Besides, the real Lily remembers you, Hope." she comments and I look down. "Yeah, I guess so. I just really needed to see you. To hear your voice, your laugh." I say and she nods.
"Well, I'm happy to be seen. Well as happy as the magical holographic manifestation of your subconscious can be that is." She says and smiles. "So, what's going on in that pretty little head of yours Hope?" she asks looking at me. I smile before answering "I really missed your eyes." "Well, of course, my eyes are extremely dreamy. Just look at how they shine in the light of this bus stop we're at" she shoots back and bats her eyelashes. I just laugh before saying, "Yeah okay, I forgot how accurate this was."
"Well, that's because you know everything about me. Which is why you know what I'm about to tell you. Why are you leaving? Don't you think that I'd want to see you, Hope? I would want to know that you were back Hope. I thought you died, you heard my voice the night you jumped into the pit. We talked about me not leaving you. And you're doing just that. You leaving town is a stupid move and you know it." Lily says looking me in the eyes, I just shake my head. "I think you'd be furious with me for leaving you." I reply and she just shakes her head. "You and I both know that that's a lie. Hope I love you, and you love me, so don't leave without even seeing me first."
"You're not even here Lily, you're in Europe with your mom and Lizzie." I say and she stares at me blankly. "Are you sure? Because you only checked my room and the twins' room. You didn't check the docks, or the library, or the room where the piano that you gave me is in." "Okay, okay I get it. I didn't really look." I say looking at her. "Why? Why didn't you really look, Hope?"
"Because I was scared of seeing you with someone else like how Landon was with Josie!" I yell and she raises an eyebrow, waiting for me to explain further. I sigh, "Seeing them together made me realize that a lot has changed since I came back. And I don't think my heart can take it if I see you with someone else." When I said that, I started crying. It hurt to even think about, let alone see. "If you can answer this question correctly I'll stay." I say and she shakes her head "I don't there's an answer I can give you that will make you leave-" "Are you happy? Is everyone happier now that I'm gone?" I interrupt her and she doesn't answer.
"Right." I say nodding my head. "No. I'm not." She says and I shake my head "You don't know that, I haven't seen you-" "Exactly, Hope... You haven't seen me. So I'm answering based on the memories you have of every time we face timed and skyped over all the breaks when we weren't together. I was sad, because I didn't have my best friend with me." She says and I just look down. "Could you uh, could you give me a minute I don't really want to cry my eyes out in front of you the first time I see you, even if you are fake." I ask and she disappeared.
Then the bus comes. When it's almost to the stop, something throws it on its side. Looking at the monster, it's a troll. "Oh crap." is all I can really say at this moment. Guess I'm not leaving.

I've been tracking this thing for about a week. When I found its blood in the woods I tracked it to Mystic Falls High. Fun. Walking in, it looks like everyone is in class, thankfully. I follow it's purple blood trail to a janitor's closet. But it's no insight. I move to go into the janitor's closet when a voice stops me, "Arent you a little short for a janitor?"
I stop and look at the guy that said that. "It's nice to know I'm not the only one trying to hide out on the first day of school." "Oh, I wasn't. Did you just quote star wars? I only noticed because my girlfriend references it sometimes. And I was looking for the principal's office actually." I say looking at the mystery guy. "I did reference it, your girlfriend sounds cool. I'm new to, but I think you're in luck, that's him right behind you." he replies and I turn around. It's Ric.
"Hi. I'm principal Saltzman. Who are you?" He asks and I freeze for a second. "Uh.. Hope. Marshall."

"You are a blank slate miss Hope... Marshall. Parents are Tom and Kathleen. No transcripts from your last school." Ric says and I nod. "I think they must have been packed away or something. Like I said, we move around a lot." I replied lying through my teeth. "Mhm. Well, if you are going to be here in Mystic falls, then you're gonna have to go to school." "Well then I guess it's a good thing I'm here then isn't it." I sarcastically remark. Then the bell rings. "Can I go now?" I ask, standing up.
"You know uh. I've got three daughters. One is actually in trouble. Point is, I know when they're hiding something from me. So if there's uh, anything going wrong at home, or if you need to talk to someone, just know I'm here okay?" Ric asks and I just nod my head. "I'm fine." is all say before walking out of his office.
When I get into the bathroom, I start tearing up and breathing heavily. It's really hard, having him not know who I am. "Boy problems?" looking up in the mirror a girl is standing next to me. "uh, girl problems actually. She's kind of a monster right now." I say secretly referring to the troll and she nods, going to wash her hands. "Oh my god. Say no more. We'll fix you up, make her jealous. I have an extra shirt in my locker, and I've got hairspray, lipgloss, and new eyeliner. Maya" she says pulling a few things out of her bag. "Hope. Thank you. Weird question, by any chance, have you noticed a terrible smell coming from anywhere in the school?" I ask and she laughs.
"I think everyone has. Boys' locker room." She says and I nod.

Walking in, I scrunch up my nose. "Teenage boy plus monster. That's a special combo." I say and find a purple blood trail. I go to follow it but someone grabs my shoulder. On instinct, I elbow them, kick their legs out from under them and go to hit them but stop when I see it's Ric. "Woah Woah! Okay, seriously. Who are you?" He asks and I help him up.
"I'm a vampire hunter. And I-I came across a creature." I say and he crosses his arms. "What kind of creature?" "A creature that's big enough to flip over and empty bus. It's green, it's ugly, and it smells absolutely terrible, so I'm going with a troll? And it's hiding somewhere inside the school." I say and he's doing that fave that say he doesn't believe me. "Uh-hu. And how do you know that?" He asks putting his hands in his pockets.
"Because I wounded it. It's nocturnal so it hides out during the day. I found a legend that says I just have to pierce its heart." I tell him and he gives me his face that says 'Hope stay out of it' before saying "Listen you're not doing anything. You're just a kid. If there's a monster loose in my school, I'll take care of it." "Yeah, no offense, but I've been trying to kill this thing for a little over a week, and nothings worked."
"Well if you really are a vampire hunter then I'm sure you've heard of Alaric Saltzman? Yeah. I know what I'm doing." He says and tries to walk away but I simply reply "Yeah. You're very famous around here... But you're gonna need my help." This makes him turn around. "I have put kids in danger before. And I'm not going to do that again.-" when he says that the bell rings and he clears his throat before saying louder so the guys coming in can hear "Yes, of course, we'd love to have you try out for the team. All are welcome. But in the meantime just go to class and... Stay there." He whispers the last part and then walks away.
I go to walk out but the guy from earlier speaks, "So you going out for kicker or are you just stalking me?" this makes me laugh. "I think it's pretty clear who's stalking who here. Besides, if I went out for the team it'd be for QB1" this makes all the guys in the room say "ooooo" then I walk out.

Later, I mixed together a potion that, when used with the right spell is basically a flash grenade, blinding people or monsters for a little bit.
I followed the monster's blood trail to the basement and found Ric on the ground. I rolled the potion to the troll's feet and waved my hands at it saying a spell "Sol" and then converted my eyes and flashed. Ric threw his arrow to me, "Hope!" and I use my powers to stab the arrow into the trolls heart.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and agree with your troll theory." he says standing up and walking to the trolls body. "Yeah well, it's nocturnal so I figured I'd make some artificial sunlight." I say and then he speaks again. "You didn't say that you're also a witch." "Look I'm just here to kill this monster. Then I'll be on my way before this gets any more complicated." and then I jinxed myself. "Um..." looking to the voice, Maya is right there looking scared to death. "Shit." Is all I say.

"The sound was a busted water pipe. And then Dr. Saltzman" "Principal Saltzman" "My bad, Principal Saltzman, shut off the water and took care of everything." MG finished compelling Maya. After she went to class, he came over to me and I held up my hand. "Ah. Don't even think about it." he looks to Ric and he shakes his head. "Uh-uh okay, if he trusts you so do I. By the way, I don't normally do this, I'm not trying to take anyone agency or whatever. I have to go, I have a study date, now actually. Oh but uh- Dr. S. There's an issue that they're having with Lily, they could really use you on keeping her contained." MG says and leaves.
What the hell? What do they mean keeping her 'contained'? What's wrong with her?
"Uh look, I'll be back in a few hours after school lets out to help you clean up what's probably a dead troll." I say and stand up. "You're really not phased by any of this are you?" Ric asks and I just shrug. "I mean I guess that story you told me about the black pit and the monsters makes a lot of sense. I was glad to hear it stopped. I'm sorry that it's happening again." "Well, it's not your fault." He says and I just look away. "Right." Is all I say before I leave. Because it is my fault. They didn't come back until I did.

I couldn't go onto the Salvatore campus to find Lily. There were too many students around. So I had to wait until nightfall, then I went back to clean up the troll.
"There's uh, something I want to ask. You know when we were fighting, how did I know to throw that bolt to you? It was like muscle memory. We've fought together before, haven't we?" He asks as we go downstairs to the troll. "What? That seems totally impossible" I say and he fires back quickly "Yeah except I live in a world where a creature names Malivore exists that can erase people from memory." I just shake my head and go to walk to the dead troll. Only it's not there. "Ummm." "Okay so... Not a troll" Ric says walking up behind me and seeing no troll.
Later that night, I found the monster in town square trying to go near Landon. I throw it back with a spell and punch it with my werewolf strength. But it throws me across the grass. It picks me up by my face and goes to stab me with its weird pointed finger when Ric shoots its hand with a crossbow making it drop me. I light its hair on fire and it reveals an eye. It's a cyclops. "Hope! Eye!" Ric tells and throws me his crossbow. I take it and shoot the cyclops in the eye, and it disintegrates.
After killing it, I go to walk away, and Landon sees me. I just ignore him and follow Ric. "Surprising resemblance between a troll and cyclops." I laugh and nod my head. "Look, I know you're not going to stay, so... Here." he says, handing me his crossbow. I put it in my duffel bag and walk away, sitting but the big statue in the town square, I can't help but think about what could have happened to Lily. I know something is wrong. But I can't find her to help her.
Then, Landon walks up to me. "Hey, we saw each other earlier right?" he asks walking over to me. "Yeah, I was just on a walk clearing my head." I respond and he sits down. "Rough night?" "Yeah actually, uh, relationship trouble." I say looking down, he does too. "Must be contagious" "Why you too?" I ask and he nods. "Yeah I'm with this really amazing girl and then all of sudden everything is super complicated. Things were great, and then things went to hell with her younger sister, and it's like I'm trying to be this perfect boyfriend and she's trying to be this perfect girlfriend and it's just not right you know."
"Sometimes you have to open yourself up enough to not be perfect around each other." I answer and he nods slowly letting it sink in. "What about you?" he asks waiting for me to share. "Uhum, my uh, my girlfriend is in some sort of trouble. I can't find her and her family is treating me like I don't exist so I don't know how to help her." I reply to playing with my hands. "Well, maybe you should make sure they know you're there. She's your girlfriend you deserve to know what's going on with her. Here, this might make you feel better. I got, I don't know why, I didn't drink any of it, I didn't want a milkshake and it's probably all melted by now but still. Peanut butter blast, whipped cream on the bottom. My girlfriend's sister makes them sometimes." He says handing me the milkshake.
"I hope your night gets better." he says and then walks away. After that, I can't help but cry. I have no idea what to do.

I walked into Ric's office and knocked on the open door. He looked up at me and stood in front of his desk. "Um... My names, not Hope Marshall. It's Hope Mikaelson. I'm Klaus and Hayley's daughter. And I know you don't remember this, but you're the closest thing I have to a father now. And the entire world jas forgotten that I exist. Except for the girl that I love, and I have no clue where Lily is or what happened to her, but from what MG said it's not good. And I don't know what to next." I say with tears coming out of my eyes. He just hugs me. "It's okay Hope. We'll figure this out. Together."
After a few minutes, I stopped crying and asked the question I've wanted to know since I got back. "What happened to Lily? Why did MG say she's being contained?" this question makes him sigh and rub his face.
"After you jumped into the pit, Lily broke. When I got back from picking up Landon, she beat the crap out of him then snapped his neck. She said it was Landon and I's fault that her girlfriend, who we don't remember, died. She had said that someone named Hope Mikaelson jumped into the pit, but since she was the only one to remember, no one believed her. Then, she couldn't take the pain anymore. So she shut off her humanity." I close my eyes and cover my mouth. It's so much worse than I thought.
"She went on a killing rampage. She even went to New Orleans and got your family to help try and find a way to bring you back, but after about two months they gave up. And she went on another killing spree in the Bahamas, until Damon Salvatore and Bonnie Bennett caught her, and locked her up here. Now we're trying to get her to turn her humanity back on. But nothings working." As he finishes his phone rings. He answers it and the look on his face is bad. "What?" I ask and he looks horrified. "Hope. I need your help. You might be the only one that can bring her back. But we have to go. Now!" He says and grabs my hand running out of the office.

Lily's POV~
A week. They've had me in this stupid mini prison for a week. Lizzie and Josie have given up coming here. They know nothing will get me to turn my humanity back on. I just wish everyone else would see that too and let me out.
I'm sitting on the bed reading a book, when the door opens. Kaleb walks in, grabs me, and speeds away. He lets me go when. When we get into the woods. I see Josie, Lizzie, and MG there. I laugh dryly. "If this some kind of friendship intervention, then give up now because it's not going to work. I've killed vampires older than both of you combined. So leave me alone or I'll kill you too." I say and go to walk away, until Kaleb speaks. "MG, do it." Turning around, I see MG speed behind Josie and bite her neck.
"You know he can't control it. So the only way you can get him to stop, is to show that you care. Show that you have humanity, and save your sister. Or else there won't be a Gemini merge in six years." Kaleb yells at me and I stand there a second too long. Because once I get to Josie, she's dead. "No!" I yell and fall to my knees with her in my arms. Only a glammer spell wears off. And the person I'm really holding is Landon. I shove his body off of me and stand up.
"I really should have known that it wasn't really Josie. I mean, Lizzie would never agree to that. But now, for that, I'm gonna become your worst nightmare." I say with venom coating my voice, and I run, and start attacking Kaleb. He just runs away. "Game of chase makes the kill more fun Kaleb!" I yell and run after him. While I'm chasing him I hear MG call Alaric. "Dr. S. We did something really bad. We tried something to get Lily's humanity back on and it didn't work and she's trying to kill us. Kaleb has her distracted but we really need help here." after that, he hangs up.
"A distraction huh? For what?" I ask, stopping in front of MG and I have my hand wrapped around his heart, making him groan in pain and freeze. "This!" I turn to where the voice came from and am met with Lizzie knocking out with a giant branch.

Third Person POV~
When Lily wakes up, she has magical cuffs on her wrists and she's still in the woods. "Oh good. You're awake." Lily hears a voice say and she turns to it. This makes her scoff. "Wow. You know that is low even for Lizzie. Way to go. You guys went into my room, looked at a picture of Hope and put Landon in a glammer spell to look like her? I mean, now you really must be stupid. In fact, I think you're stupid just for being in here with me. No humanity means no regrets, Landon. And I certainly wouldn't regret ripping to shreds even with my humanity. Even more so now that you're pretending to be the person that you basically killed."
The look on the fake Hope's face is one of pain. She tried to come closer but Lily just took a step back for every step she took forward. "Lily, listen to yourself right now. This... This isn't you." Hope said walking closer, resulting in Lily taking yet another step back. Lily just laughs dryly and shakes her head whilst replying "That's ironic coming from someone who's pretending to be someone you don't even remember. And by the way. You all made one crucial mistake when you knocked me out.-" Lily breaks off the magical cuffs. "See, when Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Damon used these on me, they were smart enough to inject vervain into me first. You didn't. Which means I have my strength, and thanks to that, I have my magic." suddenly she throws her hands out and everyone goes flying back to the ground.
Groaning, everyone got up. "Sorry Lily," Kaleb said before speeding over to her and kicking her leg, breaking it. "AHHH!" She screamed and landed on her knee. She went to stand again, but when she did, Hope grabbed her by the sides of her face. "Get off of me!" Lily tried to push her away but it didn't work, instead, Hope showed Lily a memory.
~In the memory, Hope's POV~
Summer break started about a month ago. I've been having a lot of fun with my mom when she's not doing alpha business with the vampires and witches.
Today, however, is one of those days when I'm by myself. I was on y way to Russo's when I got a face time call from Lily. Smiling, I answer. "Hey, Lil" she smiled too. "Why hello Hope, how is your very sunny day?" She asks noticing I'm outside. "It has been kind of boring actually, my mom had alpha stuff to do with the witch, vampire, and human factions so I've been alone all day." I explained to her, walking into Russo's.
"Well, I wouldn't worry about that anymore" When she said that it wasn't through the phone. Looking up, there she was, standing next to my mom. "Lily!" I yell and go hug her. She starts laughing. "Hi!" I pulled away and started firing questions at her, "What are you doing here? How did you get here? When did you get here?" this made her laugh even more.
"Hope, calm down. To answer your many questions, I missed you so I came to visit. I got here the normal way obviously, a plane. And I landed a few hours ago, your mom picked me up." She answers while motioning to my mom, who was smiling really big. "Mom?" I look at her and she just walks over and hugs the both of us. "I may have lied. I didn't have any alpha business, I was getting Lily. She called me about a week ago and asked if she could make a surprise visit. And I agreed." I just hug her again. "Thanks, mom! Come on Lily let's show you around, New Orleans" I say and drag them both out of the restaurant.
Later that night, Lily and I were in my room watching a movie. She had her head resting on my shoulder, but she was being quiet. Looking at her, she was sleeping. Smiling, I kissed the top of her head and turned off the movie before falling asleep.
~End of memory, Third Person POV~
When Hope opened her eyes, she saw that Lily was crying. Lily opened her eyes and looked at Hope slowly. "H-Hope?" she asked with a pleading voice. Hope just smiled sadly and nodded. " It's me, Lil, it's me" At that moment, Hope just pulled Lily into a hug, not wanting to let go. And Lily started crying even more. "Oh my god. H-how are you back? I spent months looking for a way to bring you back." Lily asked looking up at her best friend.
"I'll explain everything later." Hope replied shaking her head. Then Lily pulled away and saw her bloody hand. Which made her remember what she did to all those people, and almost did to her friends. "Oh god. I-I killed all those people. God, I t-tortured them and then killed them in f-front of their families." Lily started shaking her head. "Hey, that wasn't you okay?" Alaric tried to say, walking over to her but she just backed away quickly.
"No-no it was me. I did that. I'm a monster. And a cold-blooded killer." once Lily said this, she sped away, leaving everyone to wonder where she went. Hope started walking the way, Lily went, "I'll go find her." at this, Lizzie speaks up, "Um no offense to whoever you are, but I think someone who knows my sister should go find her."
"Lizzie, Hope does know her. Better than anyone I think. Go, find her." Alaric said and then MG connects the dots. "You're the girl Lily talked about. The one that jumped into Malivore? Hope Mikaelson?" he asked and Hope just nodded. "I'll explain later. For now, I have to go find my girlfriend." Hope replies before walking off into the woods, when a voice stops her. "Hope-" turning around, Alaric is the one that called her. "Thank you. For bringing her humanity back. What did you show her?" Hope smiled a little, "A memory only she and I would know about." With that response, Hope walked off.

Hope's POV~
This might be bad to even think, but thank you, Kaleb, for breaking Lily's leg. I feel bad for thinking that because it hurt her, but because of the way Kaleb broke it, she was bleeding. Which made it easy to track her. I lost the blood trail about 10 minutes ago which means her leg healed, but with the direction she's heading, I knew where she was. Walking up to the dock, there she was, sitting at the edge looking at the water.
Sitting down next to her, I just looked at the water as well. Not really knowing who would speak first. That question was answered when Lily sniffled and spoke, "You know you're a hypocrite right?" she asked looking at me. "Not even 24 hours after our conversation about you being afraid I would leave you, you did the same thing to me. And yeah, I know it was to save everyone but it still hurts Hope." when she said that I started tearing up as well. Because she was right.
"I figured that, it was better for you to be mad at me and be safe than to be happy and in danger constantly." I replied looking down. "That's the thing Hope, we're always going to be in danger. Our whole lives. Because we're different. And no matter what there will always be hunters, and monsters, and other supernaturals trying to hurt us one way or another. And I'm so happy that you're back, I really am. But I don't know what to do." hearing this, I look at her. "What do you mean?" I ask quietly not really wanting the answer.
When I asked this, more tears came out of her eyes. "I killed people Hope. I couldn't handle the pain of losing you so I shut it off. And who I was without my humanity was my father. Not the sweet one who would dance with me, and take me to paint stores and watch princess movies with me. But the evil one. The ripper or killed people for sport and didn't care about anything or anyone but the satisfaction of the kill. I became a monster." by the time Lily finished saying that, she was sobbing.
Not knowing what else go do, I just hugged her, tight. And she was hesitant at first, but eventually, let me. After about 45 minutes, Lily fell asleep. I carefully got up and carried her to her room. When I tried to put her down on her bed, she wouldn't let go, instead, her hold on me got stronger. Giving in, I laid down with her. Her head was on my chest and her arms were wrapped around my waist.
Unconsciously, Lily nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck, making me smile and kiss her forehead. After I used my powers to turn off the lights, except for her butterfly nightlight, I was about to fall asleep when I heard Lily whisper in her sleep "I love you" I smiled before answering in the same tone, "I love you too little star." and then I fell asleep.
(A/N)- What do y'all think? Happy that Hope and Lily have found each other again or should I have kept them apart a tad bit longer?
Also if you don't like the song for this chapter I was also contemplating using When The Parties Over, by Billie Eilish.
Ship name for Hope and Lily is still pending btw, if you guys have any ideas for it, lmk we can have a vote or something.
