Charlotte Adams, though respected in the human race; admired and feared by those at the top of the pyramid, those who lead that pyramid have their eyes on her.
Some have diverse intentions, but most only want her head.
She has done nothing to them. Perhaps it is simply a millennial grudge that even they cannot understand, perhaps it is a lifetime inheritance. Or maybe itâs just something deeper but simple: the grudge.
Charlotte knows this, and she also knows that being in this place is very dangerous for her. Even though she has been here for a long time, she still doesnât understand how far these guys can go in their plans against her. She still doesnât manage to go deep into the mountains, let alone understand how much the Hill Clan influences this side of the world.
But she is sure it does, and the Religion of Prosperity is a clear example of that.
Thatâs why she knows her stay here is a danger.
âBut I canât leave. I guess itâs time to be patient.â She sighed and looked back.
"I didnât expect youâd like to see me think, Mia."
Mia Holmer smiled. "Itâs a little different when youâre thinking, Lady Charlotte. It feels a bit unreal. I guess I wanted to learn from you."
"Hahaha, thereâs one person youâd love to see think, then. Even though heâs always thinking, heâs so charming that you could get lost in him when heâs thinking deeply and lost in his thoughts. I wonder if heâs lost that habit of his of getting lost in his thoughts."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Mia Holmer moved forward to sit across from Charlotte, a curious look adorning her face.
"Who is he? Itâs a little strange to hear you talk about a man, let alone in that way."
"Only one man in this world could make me talk like that about him. You know him." Charlotte sipped her tea as she finished her words.
"Who?" Mia asked, confused.
"Matthew Dietrich."
Miaâs eyes widened like saucers. "Him? This...Lady...do you know Matthew?"
"What makes you think I donât? Iâve told you about him on several occasions."
"You are..."
"Iâm human, right? Even more, I am at the top of a pyramid among humans and a deadly enemy of vampires."
Mia nodded toward her, but Charlotte simply smiled and looked further behind her.
"Mia, you should know that I allow you to be closest to me because of one of your actions that I did not command you to do some time ago."
Miaâs surprised eyes slowly dimmed as she tried to remember what Charlotte was referring to.
âAn action she didnât order...â She thought, unable to remember.
Charlotte spoke again.
"That day when Sorcerers and Divine Knights met in the Spirit City. That day, you allowed Matthew Dietrich to escape safely. Since that day, you have at least a part of Mattâs trust. And that same part of the trust he has in you, I have in you."
Mia shook her head, confused. "I donât understand what youâre referring to or what you mean."
"Why donât you try some of that tea you have there? It might have the answer." Charlotte said, smiling a little.
The glass in front of Mia was the glass Matthew had just used.
Mia frowned at the sight of it, but it was something Charlotte herself had told her. She couldnât say no.
Finally, she grabbed the glass and went to take a sip. Although the tea was cold, she was sure that all Charlotteâs teas would be delicious, so she quickly prepared herself to enjoy the taste.
Yet, before she had even put her lips to the glass, a strange aroma came to her.
At the same time, one of her spirits was revealed by this aroma.
"Itâs that vampire who is attached to the Spirit Essence, Mia." Said the spirit to her ears.
Mia had figured it out, too.
"Matthew was here?" she asked, in shock.
Charlotte smiled, "He was sitting where you are less than one hour ago. Thatâs his favorite tea, too. I only make it when heâs around."
Mia Holmer felt confused and stared at the glass for a long time.
Charlotte had to speak to snap her out of her thoughts.
"Donât be surprised. Matthew is my husband, and we have been for a long time, although this is something not many people know. We went through thick and thin together, even going through death together. Thatâs why I trust you because he trusted you."
Mia looked at her, confused, terrified, and in immense surprise.
The statements that the greatest woman the race had ever had was issuing at this moment were shocking. They could cause tremendous shock throughout the worldâs population.
The most talented woman in the human race was married to the most talented man in the vampire race.
Who could believe it?
Thatâs why Mia had a hard time processing the information.
But she understood one thing.
She quickly stood up and bowed to Charlotte.
"My Lady, thank you for your kindness and trust in me; I swear on my life that I will never reveal that information to anyone, not even the sisters." She was firm as she spoke, creating a smile on Charlotteâs face, and she leaned back against the chair.
"Thatâs fine, but I didnât tell you just because. Mia, the time is near."
"What time?" Confused, Mia raised her head to look at her.
Charlotte sighed.
"We are just pawns in the chess game of a great force. Everything we are going through may have been planned. And we donât know if that force is an ally or an enemy, but itâs most likely an enemy force. And the time for those guys to move is getting closer. If I told you that, itâs because I want you to do several things for me."
"What is it, my lady? I will do whatever you say; I have sworn allegiance to you before; you only need to order me."
"This will be the most important and dangerous mission I will ever issue. That is why I can only give it to you. Although the reality is that there is a high probability that the mission will go wrong, thatâs why I will let you choose what to do."
Mia had never seen Charlotte talk like that before. Maybe that was a bad omen, but she nodded. "Whatâs the mission?" she asked, and Charlotte beckoned her over.
"Come closer." She spoke.
Soon after, Mia came closer, and Charlotte whispered a few words in his ear.
Word after word was more stupefying than the last.
Mia didnât know how to react because Charlotte had told her too many important things.
Several of those things involved her own life, but the mission also put Charlotteâs life at risk.
âThe lady, so far, has never been wrong... But this mission... Itâs dangerous.â Mia thought.
She wasnât afraid of challenges, but when someone was truly facing death, she would doubt even her own beliefs.
Thatâs nature.
But surprisingly, Mia wasnât doubting right now.
Along with the mission, Charlotte also mentioned several other very important things that only Charlotte and Matthew know. So she was entrusting her with a high-level and highly confidential mission, so it must be important.
And the confidence Charlotte was giving her was that he would not leave her alone; she had a squad that would help her.
After thinking about it for a while, Mia nodded.
"Iâll do it. But I need time."
Charlotte smiled. "I need time, too. He needs it, too."

"He?"
"Matt. Do you think Iâll leave you alone after telling you so many secrets? I trust you; Matt does, too. We both plan this mission, so heâll do his part, too." Charlotte smiled.
Her words drastically changed the situation in Miaâs mind.
âI see... It was a test.â Mia thought, somehow feeling satisfied with her answer.
