.
Chapter 61 Maeve heard the sound of the door opening, and a dim light illuminated the room.
âMaeve. Sergioâs voice was low.
Maeve pretended not to hear.
Sergio raised his voice. âMaeve!â
Maeve furrowed her brows but still didnât open her eyes. âWhy are you disturbing my sleep?â
âGet up!â Sergio sounded angry.
Maeve got up in frustration, staring at Sergio. âHave you gone mad?â
Sergio rushed forward, catching Maeve off guard, and pinned her down on the bed.
The dim light from the door cast an ambiguous feeling on Sergioâs figure.
Maeveâs breath hitched but eventually calmed down. âWhat do you want?â
âWhere were you tonight?â Sergio asked.
âI was having dinner with friends.â Maeve shrugged.
âWho?â Sergio pressed on.
Maeve frowned. âI donât think Iâm obligated to tell you. Donât forget, we are just using each other.â
âIs that so?â Sergio suddenly sneered.
Maeve realized something was wrong but Sergio tore open her nightgown before she could react. âYouâre legally my wife.
Shouldnât you fulfill your duties as a wife?â
âHave you lost your mind, Sergio?â Maeve gasped.
Sergio was about to tear Maeveâs clothes when she slapped him.
The slap echoed in the room, earning them a tense silence.
Maeve spoke coldly, âSergio, Iâm not your plaything!â
Sergio tensed on top of Maeve and his chest heaved violently from his previous actions.
âGet out!â Maeve pointed to the door. Her eyes watered, and Sergio wondered if they were out of anger.
Sergio regained some of his senses and left Maeveâs room.
After the door closed, Sergio rubbed his temple. He must have been crazy to do what he just did.
After a while, Sergio turned around and reached for the door handle. He hesitated but ultimately didnât enter the room.
Inside the room, Maeve silently locked the door from the event. It seemed Sergio was pissed by what Chapter 6.
happened earlier today. She needed to be more careful in the future.
The next morning, Allle, who should have woken Maeve up, was nowhere to be found. Maeve went downstairs. âAllie?â
Her calls went unanswered, and she noticed Serglo on the couch.
Sergio wore a white shirt and was drinking coffee with an aloof look as if nothing had happened last night.
Maeve asked, âWhereâs Allie?â
âI gave her a day off,â Sergio answered.
Maeve huffed. âThen what am I supposed to eat for breakfast?â
Sergio looked up. âCanât you cook for yourself?â
Maeveâs face fell.
âIf you canât, you can always beg me. Sergio hummed.
âFucking asshole,â Maeve cursed to herself.
Sergio must be targeting her because of what happened last night.
Maeve went to the kitchen and took some eggs and bread from the refrigerator.
