Chapter 62 Sergio didnât expect Maeve to actually cook. He put down his coffee and looked in her direction.
Maeve remained expressionless. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and never had to set food in the kitchen.
In her past life, after she married Serglo, she heard Hailey say that the way to a manâs heart was through his stomach. So, she began experimenting in the kitchen despite not cooking before.
But in the end, Sergio never tasted her cooking. After all, Sergio loved Clara more.
After breakfast was ready, Sergio noticed she hadnât prepared any for him and frowned. âWhereâs mine?â
âMake it yourself.â Maeve rolled her eyes.
Sergioâs anger flared. âMaevelâ
Maeve ignored him and tore into her bread. Since she no longer liked Sergio, she didnât need to go to such lengths to please him.
âIâm done,â Maeve said after finishing her meal. She took her dishes to the kitchen and grabbed her bag, ready to leave.
Sergio asked, âWhere are you going?â
âI have classes in the morning.â Maeve clicked her tongue.
âTake the day off,â Sergio demanded.
âAre you crazy?â Maeve reached her limit.
Sergio had been acting strange the entire morning. First, he gave Allie the day off, then made her cook breakfast, and now he wanted her to skip class.
After a while, Sergio spoke, âWhatâs the deal with that piece of land?â
Maeve thought Sergio wouldnât ask. No wonder he was acting so strangely today. It turned out it was all about profit.
Maeve shrugged. âI sold it.â
âYou sold it? To whom?â Sergio cocked a brow.
âThatâs none of your business.â Maeve huffed.
âMaeve!â Sergioâs voice turned cold. âDo you know how much that piece of land is worth now?â
âI donât, but Iâve held onto that land for far too long. Since the opportunity arose to sell it, I did,â Maeve said nonchalantly.
âYou!â Sergio gritted his teeth.
Maeve was pleased seeing how angry Sergio was.
Chapter 62 âWhatâs wrong, Mr. Brooks? Didnât you always hate that land? Yet you suddenly think itâs valuable?â Maeve sneered.
Sergio bit down his anger. âWho did you sell it to?â
Sensing Maeveâs silence, Sergio asked again, âDid you already know that the land would be part of a green city project?â
He had thought about it all night and couldnât come up with any other possibility. Only a fool would spend ten billion dollars to buy land in the sewage district! He had thought Maeve was crazy, but now he felt she might have done it intentionally.
âDonât horse around, Mr. Brooks. I donât have your insight or vision. How could I have planned this far ahead? I just bought the land out of spite. Youâre overthinking it.â Maeve looked sincere. For a moment, Sergio doubted himself and thought he really was overthinking it.
Since Sergio fell silent, Maeve didnât want to waste anymore time. âCan I leave now?â
âNo.â Sergio shook his head.
âWhat else do you want?â Maeve glanced at the time. This place was quite far from Amenam University. She was going to be late if she didnât leave now.
âIâve told Larry to get a day off for you. Youâll come shopping with me,â Sergio informed.
âShopping?â Maeve glared down at Sergio as if he was an idiot.
E Sergio couldnât stand that look. He stared coldly at Maeve and explained, âItâs all an act for the public. Do you think showing affection at the press conference was enough? Did you know the rumors about you meeting some man in the nightclub had caused a huge stir?â
