Chapter 30

I nod in agreement and the nurses and doctors head to the farther corner of the room to talk. There is a knock on the door and a medical technician walks in. He greets me and proceed to the farther corner of the room where everyone was. The medical technician carries a luggage-like bag and starts pulling out apparatuses. Elliot leans to me, âHey, what do you want for lunch or uhm dinner?â he asks me. I slowly stand up and Elliot helps me up.
âYour mom is excited for you and me to consummate this marriageâ I tease Elliot.
âWeâre working on that.â Elliot smiles at me âSo, what did the police say?â I ask Elliot lets out a breath, âWell, speaking of that, we would need to get home sooner. I am not confident that we stay here any longer. Weâll fly out maybe on Thursday instead of Sunday. Iâll just give you time to regain your strength before we fly back home.â
My face fell. I thought we would be spending more time together. When we leave to go back home, we will not be seeing much of each other. Elliot will be busy with the business and school and I will be busy with school.
âElliot, I donât want to go home just yet. I like it here. I like spending time with you. I just---â I trail off.
Elliot cups my face in his hands, âIâm sorry to have to cut the trip short but we need to goâ
âWhat happened with the police that made you decide to leave?â I ask him He sighs heavily, âIâm just taking extra precautionsâ he tells me, âI just donât want you to get worried or paranoidâ
I look at him, âI promise I donât be. Letâs just stay until the end of the week, please?â
Before Elliot gets a chance to answer me, there was a knock on the door. Elliot stands and opens the door to see two police officers and a man in a black suit. I hear them but I could not decipher the whole conversation. All I was able to pick up was they were going to ask me questions. Elliot says something and I see him shaking his head. The policemen conversed with him some more. One of the officers gestured to me and Elliot took a glance. Elliotâs shoulders drop and makes way for the officers to enter the room.
âMrs. Smith, Iâm officer Saetang and this is my partner officer Chen.â The first officer greets me. âThis is detective Huang. He will be handling your case. We are here to gather information on what things, to help piece everything togetherâ she says. âWe would just like to ask you a few questions, if that would be alright?â she asks me.
âYeah, sure, no problemâ I tell her.
The Educator ï¤Chapter 29: 29 She pulls out a block pad and a pen, âMrs. Smith did you notice anything odd around?â
I shake my head, âNoâ
âWere there any face who seemed a little off or suspicious?â
âNo, not from what I rememberâ I tell them âWhere them people who you talked to as your stay at the hotel went on?â she asked.
I shake my head, âNo, no one except the people at the front desk and at the hotelâs room serviceâ
âAre there people in particular who you feel like would try to invade your hotel suite? Someone whom youâve gotten into a fight before, a person who is in debt to you or vice versa?â
I shake my head, âNoâ She continues to write on her pad and shifts her position to her partner.
