Chapter 707
Marrying
Chapter 707
MissusBacchus: [Stop talking about it! Dale just accepted a new drama and is about to start filming. How could he possibly have time to have a child? His schedule is packed!]
GossipGuru: [Come to think of it, itâs not exactly a disaster, is it? At his age, getting married and having kids isnât such a big deal.]
MissusBacchus: [Letâs not focus too much on the private lives of celebrities Letâs focus on their works!]
When Dale saw these comments, he finally heaved a sigh of relief. âGood lord, this was simply too much! If I had known, I wouldâve sent someone else to handle it,â he thought. Now, having finally sorted things out, he returned to the factory and heard the distant sound of a baby crying, as well as Katherineâs voice. His heart skipped a beat. âWhatâs going on? What did that idiot Maliah do this time?â
When he entered, he saw the baby crying uncontrollably while Katherine was pounding on the cupboard door, weakly pleading, âPlease, give me the childâ¦â
Katherine had just woken up when she heard the babyâs cries. She was frantic. Maliah was about to speak but was stopped by Dale, who set his things down and quickly pulled Maliah aside, signaling the henchman to hand the child over to Katherine.
Katherine, clinging to her last bit of strength, dug her nails into her flesh, trying to stay awake. When she looked up, she saw a man wearing a mask holding a baby, who was only wearing a diaper. Katherineâs heart ached immediately. âGive me the child.â
The burly man handed the baby to Katherine and also gave her the bags on the floor. Katherine understood. She quickly got up, dressed the baby, changed his diaper, and prepared a bottle of milk. Finally, the babyâs crying ceased, and Dale sighed in relief. He watched Katherine in secret, seeing that her entire focus was on the child, and felt a bit at ease.
Once Katherine had put the baby to sleep, she looked at the several men before her and said tremblingly, âWho are you? Do you know whose child this is? Why did you kidnap the child along with me?â
âCut the crap!â one of the men barked. âYouâre getting on my nerves. Sit back down.â
Fearing for the childâs safety, Katherine found a corner of the room and sat down, cradling the baby in her arms. She remained alert and watchful, every muscle tensed as she kept a vigilant eye on the men. The baby seemed to sense that Katherine meant no harm, and with a contented yawn, he gradually relaxed and fell asleep peacefully.
Katherine was extremely distressed, thinking, âIf they find out that the child is missing, they will definitely be worried sick. Matthew, your son is missing. Why havenât you come?â She urgently wished for someone to come and rescue them.
Katherine glanced around. They were in an abandoned factory, desolate and silent. She pleaded to the men keeping watch, âPlease, I know youâre doing this for money, but the child is innocent. Canât

you let us go! Iâm from the Santos family. I can offer you a lot of money. The childâs parents are wealthy too. If you let us go, I wonât say a word!â
The men looked at each other. Just as one was about to speak, a voice from outside shouted, âGuys, itâs bad. Matthew has issued a cityâwide search. Theyâre coming our way!â This was disastrous. They were even more afraid to return the child now, their panic palpable. They could already imagine how terrible it would be if Matthew caught them.
Daleâs heart pounded. Though he hadnât witnessed Matthewâs ruthlessness, he had heard about it. He was just a smallâtime film actor, not a match for the Grant family in terms of resources, and they were holding their precious baby in captivity. It was a disaster. He glanced at Maliah, who was pale with fear, and knew she was in a panic too.
Maliah, terrified, quietly withdrew to a corner. At that moment, her phone rang, startling her. It was Owen. She quickly answered, trying to steady her emotions before speaking. âDad, whatâs the
matter?â
âYou havenât been up to anything outrageous lately, have you?â Owen asked.
Maliahâs heart skipped a beat, but she denied it. âDad, what are you talking about? I havenât done anything. Iâve been very wellâbehaved lately.â
Good. Matthewâs son is missing, and the city is in a state of alert. If this is somehow related to you, I wonât be able to protect you. Youâd better behave yourself!â
âYes, Dad.â She hung up abruptly, too afraid to say anything more. If her father knew it was her idea, even the Anderson family might not be able to protect her. She tugged at Dale and asked, âWhat should we do now?â
âWe canât return the child now. Thatâs essentially suicide,â Dale said with a somber look.
âWhat do you suggest we do, then?â
Dale gritted his teeth. âItâs all your fault for causing this mess. Now we canât get rid of him, and keeping him will only cause more trouble. Itâs a disaster!â
Maliah sneered. âAnd now you blame me? If you hadnât thought of forcing yourself on Katherine, would I have been involved? Dale, if this isnât resolved properly, weâll both be doomed!â
Now, with Katherine and the baby with them, they found themselves trapped.
