Chapter 1522

Immediately, Madeline had a lot of questions in her head. However, she did not have answers to any of them.

After sitting on the bed silently for some time, she finally went to change and wash up.

When she was washing up, she saw her true face in the mirror. The light in her eyes became slightly duller.

She put back her mask and left her room to look for Eloise.

Coincidentally when she walked past the corridor, she saw Jeremy walking out of the study.

The man’s tall and slender figure was walking over elegantly. His extraordinary aura and temperament went straight to Madeline’s heart.

At this moment, Madeline’s eyes met Jeremy’s.

Madeline’s heart started racing for some reason after recalling what happened in the study last night.

However, after looking into Jeremy’s eyes, Madeline did not know how to avert her gaze any more.

Her heart was beating frantically, but the man seemed unmoved. His lively eyes were looking into hers calmly.

Madeline started to feel even more confused about what happened last night. Jeremy’s calmness was causing her to wonder whether it was all a dream.

Perhaps she was too focused on looking at him, so Madeline did not notice the decorative frame on the wall.

When she was about to run into the frame, Jeremy reached out and grabbed her shoulder to pull her into his arms.

His familiar scent invaded her chest in an instant, and Madeline felt her cheeks heating up.

When she heard footsteps approaching them, Madeline finally came back to her senses and got away from Jeremy’s embrace.

She looked at him, and his deep eyes swept across her eyes. He looked so calm, but it made Madeline super apprehensive.

“Daddy.” She heard Jackson’s bright voice soon after, and his tiny figure appeared while holding Lillian’s hand. When he saw Madeline, he greeted politely, “Hello, miss.”

Lillian furrowed her adorable brows when she heard that and shook her head. “Mommy.”

The little princess looked at Madeline seriously. It was as if she was correcting Jackson for calling Madeline ‘miss’.

Madeline was trying to ease the strange atmosphere between her and Jeremy. When she saw that, she walked over to say hello to the two children.

“Good morning, Jack and Lily. Go have breakfast now. Your daddy will take you to school later.”

Jackson and Lillian nodded obediently. Then, the siblings walked to the stairs hand in hand.

Madeline let out a sigh of relief in secret. From the corner of her eyes, she saw Jeremy still looking at her, so she lowered her head.

“Mr. Whitman, you should bring Jack and Lily downstairs. I still need to take care of Mrs. Montgomery, so I’ll see you later.”

“Okay,” Jeremy replied softly. His lazy voice fell into Madeline’s ears, and it became a rhythm that played with her heartstrings.

She hurried over and did not notice a small smile blossoming on Jeremy’s lips.

Madeline brought Eloise to the park for some fresh air as usual. In the afternoon, she watched as Eloise finished her lunch before chatting with her. After that, they went to the courtyard for some sun.

The way Eloise looked at Madeline was benevolent and gentle. Sometimes, Madeline would wonder if Eloise knew she was her precious daughter. However, Eloise still looked a little dumb at times.

When it was almost dusk, Madeline went to Adam’s place for half an hour to do the gel treatment.

After it was done, the effects were as good as before and the red marks faded away temporarily.

Madeline was more than happy to have achieved this result.

She wanted to talk a little longer with Adam, but she received a call from Jeremy.

He said he had left an important document in his study at home, so he wanted to ask Madeline to help him get it and deliver it to Whitman Corporation.

Of course, Madeline would not decline this request. She quickly went back to Whitman Manor and took the document Jeremy asked for before heading to Whitman Corporation.

The employees were getting off work at this hour and the offices of different departments had their lights off. When Madeline went to Jeremy’s office, she saw that the lights inside were on.

She took a deep breath, adjusted her mask, and strode over.
